Nico The first week has gone by quickly, without incident. She has warmed up to me and even sits next to me at lunch. Today is Friday and we both have mechanics together. I can’t believe how much she knows about cars. Nadia said she has shown our wolves a thing or two when repairing some of the jeeps. I am woken up music blaring. I look at my clock and find its six in the morning. We have plenty of time to get ready for school, why is anyone up this early. I head out into the hall and stop as I hear her laughter again. I peak into my sister’s bedroom and see the girls giggling as Natasha and Nadia are picking out their school outfits dancing to whatever song is on the radio. I now know why the music is so loud; it’s so my sister can feel the beat. I am not sure Ahsoka has ever been this happy before. AhsokaI felt it again today. That spark that travels throughout my body when our skin makes contact. I just don’t know what it means. AhsokaI listen carefully as he explains what he calls the shadow world and that he and his family are werewolves along with many others in this community. He says vampires, fairies, witches and warlocks are also real. He continues to explain how he is the leader of his pack called an alpha and that there are several packs throughout the United States as well in other countries. Always there but never seen. AhsokaI can’t believe werewolves are real. Mr. Petrov said vampires and witches are real too. I am questioning everything I have ever known to be a myth now. Ahsoka I follow Nadia out the front door and see there are four Jeeps with their tops down. How many cars does this family have? I notice a few huge guys get in the first two Jeeps while Nico’s parents and little brother get in the third jeep. Nadia ushers me to sit in the back with Nico. I can’t help but smile. “Why are those guys following us,” I sign to Nico pointing to the other two jeeps full of people.“Those are guards. Your guards, Max and Shaun, are there along with one for each of my siblings. We’ve been having rogues attack lately so we are just being cautious. Nothing has ever happened on pack territory in a long time but we always take precautions.” I stare out the front window as Natasha drives down the windy road towards the lake. NicoI am over the moon with how comfortable Ahsoka seems to be around me now. She still flinches but doesn’t pull away. I hope I can make her feel safe to not flinch anymore. I know that will be a long time before that happens. I have many walls to get through and it took all summer for her to be comfortable around us. As I walk back towards the rock I can hear arguing. I groan as I recognize that voice as Vicki’s. I reach the top just in time to see Vicki shove Ahsoka hard enough that she falls off the ledge into the water. Max and Shaun try to grab her but they miss.“What the hell Vicki! I told you to stay away.” I look over the ledge waiting for Ahsoka to pop up.“Whatever she’ll be fine.
