~Lyra POV

I had my face pressed against the wooden door and I held onto my dress. My heart raced as I was eager to hear the conversation that came from the other side of the door.

Earlier that morning, I heard that my father the alpha of the silver moon pack was having a meeting with the high ranked wolves and….it had something to do with me.

I knew whenever the meeting was about me, it never ended well. It would either end with a fight or my father beating someone up. Gradually, the rumors about how protective my father was about me began to spread and they started saying things against him.

They said I wasn't worth the stress…because I was HUMAN. Unlike my father who happened to be an alpha, I was just a human always wandering around the village with nothing good to offer. No one needed to tell me before I knew that they all didn't want me around.

They said I would end up bringing humans who would take over the village and destroy them.

No matter how hard father tried….they didn't believe I wouldn't betray the pack.

“We can no longer keep Lyra among us,” someone said. I recognized that voice and it belonged to no one else but Beta Bryce. He hated me the most. I could tell from his cold voice.

“And what is that supposed to mean?” Father asked.

“It's either she dies or she leaves the village completely,” Beta Bryce added and my heart hit my chest. They would only tell my father that I was being a burden, but never had they said anything about me having to leave.

I had no where to go and they knew it.

“Where is all of this coming from? Do you realize that Lyra is my daughter?” Father reminded.

“Alpha Lord, Lyra has nothing to offer the pack!”

“She is still my daughter!”

“Lord, Lyra is nothing but a burden. All she does is bring down the pack one way or the other. Our soilders would be more effective if they do not always have to keep an eye on her!” someone else said and I had tears streaming down my face.

“The ineffectiveness of the soilders has nothing to do with Lyra being protected!” Father sneered.

“Lord, only if you chose to ignore it. We all know that Lyra is nothing but a waste of resources. We all know that protecting her is nothing but a waste of time. She's just going to die off one day like every other human, without a purpose or any use for us!”

“Do not call my daughter, useless!” Father growled and I could sense the anger in his voice.

“The pack is gradually going weak, Lord. Maybe is she were a wolf we would have married her to one of the alpha's son in another village and with allies, our pack would be stronger,” beta Bruce said and…he was right.

“What if she were a son? Then would you still marry her off to one of those sons?” Father defended.

“At least you would have a child that would continue your legacy. Your name and bloodline wouldn't vanish after your death.”

“Lyra would get married when the time comes!” Father seethed.

“No one is willing to marry Lyra. They say she's weak and she has nothing to offer them. Not even the omegas. From our own village are willing to get married to her. We cannot afford being weighed down because of her, your highness. She has to go,” Beta Ryder said.

I held my mouth, preventing myself from making a sound as I cried. At that point, I wished I had not come to listen to their conversation.

I asked my father why I wasn't married yet, but he told me that he was the one rejecting all the men because they weren't good enough for me. I didn't know I was the one who was being rejected.

If he had just told me the truth, it wouldn't hurt this much.

“Do not talk to me with such disrespect, Bryce just because my daughter is not like us!” Father yelled.

“All of this wouldn't be happening if you hadn't married her mother in the first place. Everyone tried to convince you but you didn't listen, saying your child would be one of us…but there she is. She's nothing but a weak and helpless human!” Beta Ryder persisted.

“Do not talk about her mother! She died for your sake! She died because of all of you!” Father yelled.

I heard beta Ryder's scoff. “she didn't die because she tried to stop the curse. She died because was too weak to handle the stone,” Beta Ryder reminded.

Father was silent.

I could tell that those words hurt him.

He told me my mother died because of a stone that's as said to have placed curses on the people in the village. She died trying to eliminate the stone and instead of appreciating her, they said she died because she was weak.

“My daughter remains with us. She must be protected and she must be adored because she is my daughter!”

“I am afraid Lord but the decision has been made. I guess you understand what that means,” Alpha Ryder said.

Better than anyone else, I understood what that meant. Father was indirectly being threatened. Everyone knew how strong Beta Ryder was and the only reason he still remained humble to my father was because my father helped him while they were younger.

I knew if Beta Ryder tried to overthrow my father because of me, he would have everyone else on his side and my father's chances of keeping his position would be slim.

“I'll find something to do about it,” Father said.

I ran back to my room and buried my head into my pillow. My heart ached as what I had just heard ran through my mind. My father was scared of losing his position and I knew what that meant.

I would be forced to leave the pack.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

Loud knocks landed on my door.

“Come in,” I answered, trying to wipe my tears, thinking it was one of the maids but I was wrong. It was my father.

I couldn't hide it. “what have you come to tell me? That I should leave the pack as soon as I can?” I asked and father came to hold my hand.

“No, Lyra. I have come to tell you that you would be getting married.” He answered.

LUCIEN'S POVDan's snarl is so sharp it slices through the corridor, echoing off the stone walls like claws.Aurora rolls her eyes, because of course she does, arms folded, chin tilted in that "I'm allergic to accountability" angle she's perfected since we were kids. And me?I'm standing right between them, pulse thundering, chest tight– still stinging from her words."You're lecturing me about happiness? Tell me, how's the search for your mate going?" Her mocking pout. "Still no trace? Poor you."She said it like she was flicking lint off her sleeve. Like it meant nothing. Like she didn't just cut me with the one insecurity I never admit out loud.I swallow hard. Not because she's right– the moon goddess and I are on okay terms after all– but because it's Aurora. My twin. My own blood. And somehow she always knows exactly where to strike. But right now?Dan looks one second away from dropping professionalism and ripping her throat out, consequences be damned. And honestly...a tiny pa

AURORA'S POVI've always been too little.Too much. And somehow, never enough.Too loud for my mother.Too sharp for my father.Too ambitious for my pack.Too calculating for my brother.Funny how that works.Even as a child, I could feel it– this edge inside me. Like a blade humming under my skin. They tried to dull it, polish it, hide it. "A lady doesn't speak like that, Aurora." "A future Luna needs grace, Aurora." "Lucien sets a good example, Aurora."Lucien. Lucien. Lucien. My twin brother.Born minutes after me, but somehow always ahead. The golden child. The favored heir. The "balanced" one.I remember my father's words the night he announced Lucien as next Alpha:"Your brother is steady. You are...spirited."Spirited.The nice way of saying unstable.Unpredictable. Dangerous. As if those weren't the exact qualities that made an Alpha great. When our parents died, I thought– finally. my chance. My birthright. But no.The pack elders bowed their heads to Lucien within hours.Mi

DAN'S POVThe forest is too damn quiet. Not the peaceful kind of quiet– no. This is the kind that presses against your ears, squeezes your lungs, and makes your instincts scream something is wrong.Very wrong.I tighten my grip on the flashlight as it cuts a narrow line through the darkness. Warriors move ahead and behind me, their forms shifting between shadows."Commander Dan." Kade calls from somewhere near the left side of the patrol line."Tracks lead further north, she must've gone through the ridge."I nod, my throat burns just hearing the words. ' She must've gone.' She shouldn't have gone anywhere. Not alone. Not in this state. Not when the world is ready to tear her apart for being human. My jaw clenches.I don't give a damn if she's human.Never have.Never will.Lyra has more spirit, more courage, more fight in her little finger than half the wolves in Silverkeep combined. Anyone who says otherwise, deserves their jaw realigned.Still...I wish she hadn't run. I wish she'd

ETHAN'S POVI wake up to silence.Usually Lyra's scent is the first thing that hits me, the faint warmth I've gotten used to– her warmth, soft, grounding– is gone. My hand reaches out instinctively, finding only the cold indentation on the sheets... nothing.I sit up so fast the room spins. "Lyra?"No answer. My heart shutters. A sick, sharp panic slices through my chest as I throw the blankets off and stand.I scan the room sharply, my chest tight. The cloak she wore last night– gone. Her boots– gone. Her small traveling bag– gone.My pulse spikes, pounding through my skull. "No. No, no, no–"I'm throwing on my shirt and boots in seconds, as I tear through the room.Bathroom? Empty.Balcony? Empty. The wardrobe? Her scent lingers but faint. Too faint. My wolf is pacing beneath my skin, restless, snarling, panicking. She didn't just step out– she's gone... she's left. And she left without me.A tremor runs through my hands. My wolf digs it's claws into my skull, howling, snarling, des

LYRA'S POVThe moment we cross into Silverkeep, the air grows heavy. The scent of authority, of judgement, hangs thick in the wind. Wolves in dark robes line the entrance to the council hall, their gazes sharp and assessing as they watch us arrive. No warmth. No welcome. Just scrutiny.Aurora walks a few steps ahead, flanked by two guards. Her wrists are bound with silver cuffs that shimmer in the light, but even then, she moves with her head held high, her eyes burning with that smug, poisonous confidence. It's like she believed this is her grand stage.I'd thought I'd gotten used to hate– glares, whispers, judgement– but this is different. This is the kind of silence that strips you bare.Ethan's hand brushes against mine as we enter the massive chamber. "Stay close." He murmurs. His tone is calm, but his eyes? Storming. The council chamber is enormous– walls carved with old runes, the crest of every major pack embedded in the marble floor. At the far end sat the council of elders:

ETHAN'S POVMy stomach sinks as I take the envelope, and break the wax, scanning the contents quickly after sending the guard away.'To Alpha Ethan Blackwood of the Ravenwood pack.Reports have reached the head council concerning the legitimacy of your Luna's nature and position. You and your Luna are hereby summoned to appear before the council of elders within 3 days to provide clarity and evidence regarding these claims. Failure to comply will result in an inquiry by force.–By order of the high council of Alphas.'The parchment crumbles slightly in my hand.Lucien's voice is quiet. "They're calling you in."I nod, my chest tightening. "They want proof. They want answers."He studies me carefully. "What are you going to do?"I look toward the empty space around us...the one which held the pack few minutes ago."What I should've done from the start." I say softly, but my voice hardens. "Protect her. No matter what it costs."Because one thing is certain– Aurora had gone too far.And
