CHAPTER SEVENTY ONE

Xaden's pov

I heard the whimpering of the stallions as soon as I got to the stable. Just behind me, I heard the giant pounding of a stallion's hooves. Probably Xavier. True to my thought, I caught his reflection from the Mirror Blade that dangled from my hands. Danya was strapped across him.

But all that didn't capture my attention as much as the woman that stood before the man--Dwayne, who laid helplessly on the floor.

As soon as the stable boy reached me, he gasped. "My lord... He..."

On the floor, Dwayne laid, his eyes were swollen. His left hand turned to the back and his little finger was broken off.

All that didn't surprise me as much as his skin did. Just like moons ago, Dwayne's skin had turned snake-like, only that today, all the scales were scattered and dusted on the floor beside him.

Confused, my eyes went to Violet, who had moved away from the defeated man and was on her knees before another person that laid unmoving on the floor.
