Nuisance

“I think we all need to calm down” My mum said, looking at everyone in the room. It landed on me. The fear in them palpable.

“Mum” I shook my head, not really knowing if I should just shut the fuck up or if I should say something.

“Manain, now is not the time” He said, looking at my mum with anger but my mum was not phased. Everyone knew the story of how my mother and the Alpha loved each other before she found her mate. He was not going to dare lift a finger at her, but that did not stop his brooding.

“Then…” she said, looking at him with a raised brow. “Would you rather shout? Would that solve the problem?” the look on his face showed that if anything, my mother speaking to him that way made him even more angry but she did not seem to mind.

“Do you have any idea what she has done?” he growled.

“Honestly, with the way he treated her all these years? It would have done worse” my mum said, rolling her eyes like some teenager.

“She embarrassed the Alpha’s family Manain!!! my family!!!” You could see the veins popping at the side of his head.

“So? What do you want to do to her?” she said, looking at him with fear mixed with anger in her eyes.

“She broke the law manny” He said in a whisper, beating around the bush. “I am sorry.” he got up, leaving the house almost immediately. Some guards rushed in, taking me by the arm before i could even think straight.

“Wait, I can explain” I started, trying to get out of their hold but nothing. Their grip was like steel, making it almost impossible for me to get out of. “Ethan!!!” I rushed to him, hoping that he would at least understand.

“Please… I swear!! it’s not what it looks like” his face was white, as though he had seen a ghost and did not know how to react

He said nothing, letting me drag  me away like I was some piece of trash.

I was thrown into the cell, eating dust as I landed on the floor.

“Fucking listen to me!!!!!” I screamed, banging on the door. For someone to let me out  but none came.

I sat on the floor for what felt like hours before the main door to the cellars opened.

I looked up, rushing towards the door to see Ethan standing there.

“Ethan, I swear. I can explain” I said, trying to process what the hell I was even going to say

‘I ran away from you because I was scared that you would be disgusted of me? I thought you were going hate that I was your mate so I ran away before you could reject me publicly?’ the more I thought of excuses, the more nothing seemed to make sense.

“You watched me go out of my mind and yet you never even said anything” he said.

He did not sound mad, he did not sound angry.

I think that even made it worse.

“When you said I should reject you….” his voice came out a whisper but I heard him either ways I thought you were just acting out” his eyes widened as he came closer to me, coming into the light so that I could see him properly.

“Anya” he called, something in his voice making me look away from him.

“If you want to reject me, then just do it. Your father is going to have my head anyways, so there is no need adding anymore torture to this” I looked at him through my peripheral vision, watching how his eyes widened as though he was not expecting me to say that.

“You.. you really want to reject me?” his voice was uncertain with a hint of fear, as though he was afraid to ask it but he needed to ask it either ways,

I looked back at him now, fully. “look, I am ready to forgive you for this, let’s just… let’s just put everything behind us” he said, shaking his head as though to get the whole thing behind him. “I will forgive this and then we can complete the mating bond.” he said, sounding a bit more confident as I did not say anything.

“No” I said after a ling pause, making sure that I was looking straight at him.

He blinked. His eyes widening a bit.

“You.. you can’t be serious” he looked at me like I had grown another head. “is this what you want? For us to severe the bond?” the fear in his voice was becoming increasingly difficult to hide.

I looked at him for a long while, my mind, for some reason dragging me back to that night.

“You looked at her with warmth in your eyes Ethan” I said, a humourless laugh flying out of my mouth.

“What?” he said, a look of confusion was plastered across his face as he spoke.

I shook my head. “Am I sorry about hiding it from you? Yes. Am I sorry about disgracing the alpha family this way? I absolutely am but don’t think for a second that I would, even for a lifetime want a second chance at us. You blew it” was all I said, the chains that were on my wrist itching me.

“You are crazy you know that? You know what would happen if you keep up this way?” I turned my back to him already tired of the back and forth. “don’t you fucking…”

“Let’s face it!” I snapped, cutting him off from whatever bullshit he was about to say. “You don’t love me. Heck! I don’t even think you know what that means. You just like the idea of having one.”

“you are fucking ridiculous” he said, rolling his eyes which just angered me further “I am fucking asking for a second chance! I messed up and…”

“I am glad that you can at least acknowledge that. But I am sorry, I don’t want to be with someone who acted like I was nothing but a nuisance to them!!”
