Lena’s POV

I woke up earlier than I expected. The sunlight coming through the curtains hit just right in a soft and golden glow.

My body still ached from the night before, and I didn’t mean physically—I was emotionally wrung out. My brain had barely rested. Between the chaos with Ivy and Briar and the new rules of living under Arlo’s roof, sleep had been more like a suggestion than an actual activity.

The house was quiet, which was weird. I wasn't used to waking up in a quiet environment.

Seriously, the girls next to our room, she lived alone but was straight up annoying, sometimes, I felt like going over to her and rip out her heart right from her chest but each time I actually go there to tell her to quiet down, she would say something in that Scottish accent and my anger would just go ‘poof’...so fucking annoying.

I pulled on a sweatshirt and socks and crept down the stairs like some half-dead raccoon in human form. I expected silence or maybe a cleaning robot or something high-t

  • The Alpha’s forbidden Flame   Chapter 67

Arlo’s POVLena had been avoiding me since yesterday, she just snatched the ring and left without a word, at least a no would have done it.This morning I literally caught her tiptoeing out of the house around seven am and Lena was not the type to be out of bed before ten. I tried to tell myself that she just needed space or something but it was starting to feel like she’d used that space to build a wall between us and I wasn’t the kind of guy to beg for attention, but damn, I missed her.I had only one place to go, to vent out my anger since Briar had been quite busy chasing a pussy. What happened to bros before whores? What happened to brothers first? Well, Briar had made sure to break that pact in a thousand ways that could not be sewed back. I drove back to vixen club, the guards didn't stop me like usual, I walked straight into my VIP room. The hostess came in and poured me a drink. She sat down beside me and engaged in a rather lengthy conversation. If I wasn't wrong, it fe

  • The Alpha’s forbidden Flame   Chapter 66

Lena’s POVI sat in my office the next morning, staring at the ring Arlo gave me. I hadn’t said yes, but I didn’t say no either.I let out a sigh, unsure of what to do. My brain felt like it had run five marathons. How did I even get here?I twirled the ring between my fingers, over and over, as I sat behind my desk. My phone was pressed to my ear. Ivy was on the other end.“You didn’t say anything?” Ivy asked, clearly annoyed.“I just… I froze,” I muttered. “It felt too fast. I mean, I love him—I think—but how am I supposed to think about marriage when my whole company is falling apart?”There was silence for a few seconds.“Lena,” Ivy finally said. “You don’t have to give him an answer right away, but don’t keep him hanging forever…Arlo is not a patient man, and how do I know that? well, thanks to Briar, he sings it everyday.”“I know,” I whispered, pressing my hand against my forehead. “I just need time.”“Hey,” she whispered. “Can I tell you something but you have to swear that

  • The Alpha’s forbidden Flame   Chapter 64

Lena’s POVI went straight to Arlo’s place after I left the office. I couldn't think straight after what happened in the company. The employees were going on strike on my face day, it was obvious they loved Megan or they just believed that Megan would come back so they don't want to be on her bad side. When I walked into the house, the first thing I smelled was garlic and onions. I can never get tired of living with Arlo. He was just undeniably a good cook. I walked in, throwing my bag on the table and staggered to the kitchen. “Hey,” he greeted but didn't look up. He was at the stove, flipping something in a pan. “You’re late. Dinner’s almost done.”“I'm sorry, I had to go see my lawyer,” I revealed, gulping down a bottle of water. “How was your day? I overheard you talking to Briar this morning, "What do the elders want?” He didn’t answer. I couldn't tell if he was just too focused on the food he was cooking or he just didn't want to answer me.“My lawyer,” I said again. “He sa

Lena’s POV “Welcome to Croft Enterprises. Now, either get in line, or get out of my building,” I snapped, throwing the files at the secretary. Her mouth opened to retort but I held up a hand to shut her up. “I told you, Megan isn't the boss of this company, so it's either you work for me or get the fuck out.”“You think you can talk to me the way you like?”She hissed. “I have worked for this company for almost ten years, long before Megan took over this company.”“And I will forever be grateful for your services,” I forced a smile. “That's why I'm offering you a fat envelope for your retirement.”“You would destroy this company in days and I know it, you are not fit to lead.”“It's my company, not yours so whatever I do or how I run the company is not your goddamn business.”She inhaled deeply, and stormed off. “She's such a bitch,” I eyed and walked away, Nathan followed me immediately. The office looked exactly how I left it years ago—white walls, glossy floors, glass desks…ev

  • The Alpha’s forbidden Flame   Chapter 62

Arlo’s POVThe council elders summoned me early that morning. I already knew what the meeting was about because the elders never call me except it was something they had something to use against me. They didn’t even bother using the council hall—they came to me. That alone told me how serious this was.The moment I stepped into the sitting room, I saw the anger on their faces with tight lips and a stern glare. I walked to my seat, ignoring their disapproving stare. I cleared my throat, placing my hands on the table. “This better be good,” I said, my eyes darting to each of them. The elders exchanged glances as if silently nominating who would speak first. “I didn't come here to catch up, you called me, so can we get this meeting on so we can move on with our lives.”The main elder, Elder Eron, rose from his seat and gestured to the others.“We appreciate you seeing us, Alpha Arlo.”I nodded once. “What is this about?”“You know why we’re here,” one of them said flatly. “This scan
