Ares POV

I knew there was a possibility this was going to happen. However, if I ever wanted to be free from my past, from my mistakes. I had to come clean. I had to ask for forgiveness.

I knew Ripley couldn’t give me that, I didn’t expect him to come back with an army. But when I saw those red eyes piercing into mine, I knew why they were here.

“Keep Jamie safe,” I mind linked Carson.

“Always, I promise,” he responded through the mind link.

I didn’t want to tell Jamie what I was going to do, she would never let me go. And I can't blame her.

Every step I took was harder than the one before. I took a deep breath before kneeling down. Waiting for them to come out of hiding. They must know we are alone here, this isn’t a trap we set for them.

Slowly five wolves emerged from the dark forest. Their Power radiated from them. I can't remember the last time I was surrounded by wolves with these auras, not in this life.

They bared their canines, snapping and growling in my direction. I
