Chapter 11

Lisa

I sat beside Klaus, and the only reason why I hadn't been scolded and kicked out was merely because Klaus was seated by my side. To these men, my status as the Alpha's bride meant nothing to them. All they could see when they looked at me was an omega who wasn't worth anything, and that was evident in their eyes. To them I was nothing more than one of the hungry ladies that roamed the streets, I had only gotten lucky, and luck didn't matter to them one bit.

All five of the elders before me had smiles on their faces, but their happiness had nothing to do with me. They were merely happy that Klaus had found his mate, and that they wouldn't have to worry about getting disbanded and losing their worth to Icarus.

"We've gotten the mating ceremony done, is she with child yet?" One of the elders asked, his greedy eyes wide with expectations.

"Not yet, we've decided to take things slow for now. Lisa is not yet accustomed to this type of life yet." Klaus answered before reaching for my hand under the table. I tried to keep them away from him, but he grabbed my hand before I could slip either of them under my dress. Gently, he squeezed my hand before flashing me a warm smile, one that I was forced to mirror just for the sake of the situation.

"Take things slow? Need I remind you that you need an heir before the year runs out. Icarus is not someone we can take lightly." Another elder spoke up. He had his eyes fixed on me in an unpleasant manner, but I didn't flinch. I maintained eye contact, determined to not yield to his toxic masculinity.

"I understand, but I'd rather not discuss this any further. An heir will be produced when my wife is ready." Klaus said with a sense of finality, and only then did the older men buckle to his words. With that, the meeting had ended, and in less than ten minutes they were all gone from the room.

Klaus and I remained seated while the elders filed out of the place, and he didn't speak until he was certain they were gone.

"You heard them didn't you? I need to produce an heir soon." Klaus said with his eyes focused on mine. I already knew this was going to be the conversation he was going to initiate, and I still didn't want anything to do with it. He had been acting nice for the past twenty four hours, but even a fool would know that it was all a game. People didn't change overnight, and Klaus definitely hadn't changed. He didn't like me, and all of this was probably a plan to make me reconsider punishing him anytime I got pregnant.

I remained silent, unwilling to partake in this conversation in the slightest of ways. I had already made a mistake with my choice of words earlier today, and I wasn't about to play into his palms a second time today.

After a minute of silence, Klaus let out a sigh of exhaustion before getting up from his seat. I knew that I'd have to say something soon, if not Klaus would definitely get aggravated. But at the same time, I had no idea what I was supposed to say. I didn't want to carry his child, and I wanted nothing to do with him at all. The man I wanted was currently hospitalized, and now that I had basically submitted myself to Klaus, my options were very limited.

"Aren't you going to say something? You're just going to sit still?" He questioned in a tone that suggested he was getting infuriated. I honestly didn't expect him to really seek my opinion, and it was a bit surprising that he had left the room after I had laid out my threats. I expected a beating, but that hadn't been the case. At the time I had been serious with my words, but afterwards I came to realize that I possibly couldn't harm myself for a year straight just because of him.

Once more, the room fell silent, and after five minutes of sitting in utter silence, I finally managed to lay out my opinion for him.

"I..I will have your baby—"

"Brilliant!" He exclaimed without letting me finish. He leaned in to hug me, but after realizing his own action, immediately retracted his outstretched arms.

"But—"

Klaus paused and his brows arched ominously. He hadn't let me finish, and had immediately jumped to conclusions when he heard my first words. I had an idea, one that would make us both happy. He would retain his throne, and continue to be with the woman he loved, while I would bear him a child and be with the man I loved.

"What is it this time? You want to threaten me again?!" He inquired, visibly annoyed.

"No, it's not anything like that." I answered sharply before turning away from his fiery gaze. "I have a proposal, one that would be great for the both of us." I said, and his look of disdain suddenly became a look of curiosity.

"What proposal? Don't keep me in suspense, speak up already!"

I took a deep breath before finally laying out my thoughts to him. "I'll bear your child, I'll give you an heir. But after that, I want you to let me and Mark go. We'll leave the pack, and you can come up with a lie that we died. You'll have an heir, and you can be with Maeve, she's not a let down like I am."

An eerie silence hung in the air the moment I concluded my sentence. It was unlike the other moments of quietness, and that alone was enough to make my body shiver in fear. Perhaps my suggestion was a bit demanding, a lowlife like me couldn't possibly tell the Alpha what to do and what not to do.

I felt Klaus's dark aura spread across the room and engulf me, and in that moment I knew I had made a mistake. I had promised not to love Mark a few hours ago, yet here I was speaking about running away with him to the very man that I had sworn an oath to.

"What did you just say?" Klaus demanded in a cold, yet authoritative tone. He advanced slowly, yet steadily towards me and all I could do was glare at him with pleading eyes. I wanted to apologize, but the words got strung up at the back of my throat. My heart was pounding erratically, and it felt as though my soul would leave my body with each passing second.

"You've got some nerve Lisa Thornberry, perhaps I underestimated the guts you have." He commented, but I remained silent. He finally reached me, and with his thumb and index finger clasped to my jaw, Klaus turned my face to meet his own. And then, in a low threatening tone, he assured me that nobody else would ever have me.

"You're my mate, you belong to me, you exist for me! It doesn't matter what you do, you'll never be able to escape that fact, you'll never be able to escape me!"

Chapter 15Icarus I had expected her a lot sooner, but even this timing was perfect for me. Although hurt and full of rage, I could still tell that Maeve was being extremely cautious of me. Klaus had probably warned her to stay away from me, but she had grown too desperate, and had clearly ignored those words of advice. "It's been far too long Maeve, what brings you here?" I inquired while I gestured for her to settle beside me. She obeyed, but didn't exactly sit on the designated spot I had pointed out for her. I knew why she was here, and I knew exactly what she wanted. I had walked into her crying on the day of Klaus and Lisa's mating night, and I had taken my time to exploit her at that moment. She had pushed me away, but that was after I had planted seeds of doubt in her head, and dropped down my address for her. Maeve was in love with Klaus, that much was evident, and she was an obsessive lover. Klaus on the other hand had only agreed to be with Maeve just to foster a good re

Chapter 14Lisa "I....I..it's you!" I squeezed out in a fake enraged tone. "You take me away from the man I love, keep me locked up in this place, and then you ask me who hurt me?"Klaus shrunk back in shock, he hadn't expected my answer, and definitely didn't expect my outburst. He had been genuinely worried for my safety, but for Mark's sake this was the only option I could come up with. Klaus couldn't know that I had gone to visit Mark, he wouldn't take that information very well. And he couldn't know that Mark was the reason I was crying, that would only make things worse. "Push me away all you want, you still can't change the fact that you're my mate, and I'm yours!" Klaus shot back at me. "When are you going to accept reality and move on?!" He yelled before turning away from my teary eyes. At first I assumed it was a bloodstain, but after close observation, I finally managed to confirm that it was indeed lipstick. It was stuck just behind the collar of his shirt and I was cer

Chapter 13Lisa The moment Klaus left the room, I immediately jumped down from the bed and hurried to the clinic once more. I just couldn't sit aside while Mark was busy fighting for his life. With the help of some guards, I was able to find my way to the clinic. And the moment I arrived, I raced straight to Mark's room without asking for the nurse's permission. Mark was awake when I arrived, and unlike before, he wasn't coated in bandages and syringes. His healing speed had regained its output, and most of the injuries were already gone. I had a bright smile on my face as I approached his bed, but the same couldn't be said for Mark. At first he pretended like he hadn't seen me enter the room, and when he could no longer ignore my presence, he turned his face away from me. "Don't do that Mark, we both know I didn't have a choice." I pleaded with him, but he wasn't exactly listening."What are you doing here then, if you didn't have a choice? You shut me down for him! You've clearly

Chapter 12Klaus After my discussion with Lisa had ended, I took her back to the room, and after showing her the most affection I could, left the room for the study. Since her arrival I had been working from home, and it hadn't exactly been easy. Even though I didn't exactly care for her, I didn't want to leave my newly wedded bride for work just days after our wedding. She wasn't fully accustomed to the place, and with Maeve roaming the castle, I just couldn't leave her alone just yet. "Any recent developments?" I inquired from Damon as I settled behind one of the tables. Damon had already gotten to work the moment I dismissed him from the dining table. At the moment he was the one running everything about the company, and he was doing a terrific job. "Not much, except for the fact that we might lose a valuable investment if you don't return to work soon. • The Alpha’s secret baby   Chapter 10

Chapter 10KlausI stared at her in anticipation for a reply. It was a difficult thing to ask of her, but it was necessary for my plan to work out. It would be impossible for her to love me if she remained romantically attached to someone else. I wanted to be the main focus of her love life, and for that to work, it was necessary that the idea of Mark becoming her lover in the distant future was completely vanquished."Do you promise that Lisa? You can't love him, nor can you accept his love. We're married now, we should focus on each other." I urged, and only then did she manage to speak. "What about Maeve? Will you continue to love her?" Her voice was a whisper, yet it was heavy with emotions. I hadn't expected her to throw that question at me, yet I was happy she did. I might be playing a game with her at the moment, but it wouldn't be fun if she wasn't playing along. I started my reply with a simple shake of the head. "Now that we're together, Maeve is no longer my lover." I cla

Chapter 9LisaWithout care for the people in the room, I rushed towards Mark's unconscious body and lifted him into my arms. Tears gathered around my eyes as I inspected his wounded body. He was still alive, but wasn't doing very good. His body was already cold to the touch, and death would become inevitable if he didn't get medical attention soon. "What did you do? What did you do to him?!" I questioned roughly as my tears began to drop. "The guards found him trying to sneak into the castle. And when he was caught he had the audacity to fight back and soil the name of the Alpha. Normally I would have beheaded him by now, but since he's a friend of yours, it wouldn't be fair to execute him without letting you say your goodbyes." Klaus answered coldly, his voice empty and hollow as he spoke. It was more than clear that he meant every word he said, and he was ready to kill Mark the very moment I let go of him. "Please don't hurt him, he's the only one I have left." I pleaded, and on

  • The Alpha’s secret baby   Chapter 8

Chapter 8Lisa I woke up feeling cozier than usual. A familiar warmth wrapped around my body, and all I could do was let myself drown in its comfort. However, just as I was about to close my eyes a second time, I suddenly became aware of a strong arm draped protectively around me. Turning cautiously, I found herself face to face with Klaus. He was seraphic as always, even in his sleep. I took a minute to admire every arc of his face, before finally returning to reality. Frantically, I raced out of bed, and only then did Klaus's eyes open lazily. "What did you do to me?!" I yelled out as soon as he sat upright on the bed. With a look of shock, I inspected myself thoroughly, and after two minutes of silence and skepticism, I finally came to conclude that he hadn't touched me. "What were you thinking? That I took advantage of you in your sleep?" Klaus asked with an arched brow, a look of disgust etched on every corner of his handsome face. It was wrong for me to jump to conclusions t

  • The Alpha’s secret baby   Chapter 7

Chapter 7KlausLisa pushed back against me anytime I attempted to get closer. I could smell her fear, yet her determination to keep me away prevailed over her fear of me. She wasn't as weak as I had made her out to be, and a part of me was proud of her. I had watched her confrontation with Maeve from the window and had sent Rudolph to fetch her. I expected her to sit still and take Maeve's bullying, but she had actually fought back, and for that brief moment I felt proud of my mate for the first time. "I won't let you do what you want with me! Even if you go on with this, I'll keep killing your babies until the day I die!" She yelled out in a shaky tone, and only then did I pull away from the unrequited embrace. I glared at her with rage in my eyes. Did she just threaten to kill my children? Maybe I had heard wrongly, surely she hadn't developed the guts to threaten the Alpha. "What did you just say?" I questioned in a calm, yet serious tone. I wanted to make sure I had heard her
