Chapter one

Tomorrow was the day of my wedding and I was excited, so excited even. Of course, every woman should be excited at the thought of her upcoming marriage, shouldn't she? And truthfully, I really couldn't wait for tomorrow to arrive.

My parents, who were the Alpha and Luna of the Juno Pack had betrothed me, at very young age, to the Alpha of a rival pack as a treaty and to end the war between the two packs. The knowledge of this had always been with me for as long as I could remember and I always knew what purpose I would have to fulfill in my pack.

Even though I was the second child of my parents, I was brought up in a rigorous way and given the Alpha training along with my eldest brother, Harry. That being said, I had Alpha blood in my veins and I could as well have been called an Alpha female.

The man I was betrothed to was an aging man who was the Alpha of the rival pack. I had grown up visiting him so I knew him well. I knew his character and he knew mine. He was a bit reserved but friendly all the same and he had come to accept my eccentric behavior after a while.

I also knew one thing about my betrothal to the Alpha of the rival pack. Since he didn't have a child, I was trained just like an Alpha because I would be the one to lead his pack after he was gone. And this was because he didn't have a child, so I, his wife would be the one to continue his reign after his demise.

Since today was the day before our marriage to each other, it was also the night of the bachelor and bachelorette party. And that was the reason I was going to his room to call him. His friends were already waiting for him in the living room.

All his friends were like him, gentle and friendly and they were unlike me and the people of my generation. I was even wondering about what they would do on this night, since it was a bachelor party. I knew that they wouldn't behave like the people of my generation, that was for sure, but I didn't know what they would do either. I could not even begin to imagine what men like my soon to be husband and his friends did for fun. They seemed like people who didn't have anything to do for fun except maybe read books and play chess.

Now since his friends were waiting for him to show up, and they had the looks of people who shouldn't be kept waiting, I had to go and call him for them. He hated being interrupted but this was a different issue on its own and it was really unlike him to be as late as this to anything, even though it was just his friends he was meeting with. He had never ever been tardy since I had knew him, and I knew that he wasn't going to cultivate it as a habit just now, this advanced as he was into age.

When I got to the front of his room, I hesitated. I really didn't want to disturb him because he didn't like to be disturbed but on this issue, I just had to. His friends were already waiting for him and even though I didn't know what they had planned for the bachelor party, at least he needed to see them so that they could do whatever it was that they wanted to do.

And this was the reason I knocked on the door. I wanted to interrupt him from whatever he was doing but I wanted to do it in a gentle manner so that was why I knocked softly on the door of his quarters.

About ten to fifteen seconds after my knock, there was still no response so I had to knock again. When there was no response at all after my second knock, I frowned.

What is going on? I asked myself. Why isn't he answering his door? Could he have fallen asleep? Well, I doubt it because he knows how important today is and he knows that his friends are coming even though he probably doesn't know that they have arrived. So he can't just keep them waiting like that. But what if he has fallen asleep even though he didn't mean to? I had better check on him to be sure. I wouldn't want to jump into conclusions.

Due to my train of thoughts, I decided to enter into his room even without an invitation. He usually didn't like it when people barged into his room just like that. In fact, he abhorred it so I had always made a point never to do it since I didn't want to displease him.

But today, at this point, I just had to do it even if it meant risking his displeasure or anger. There were people waiting for him and time was ticking away. He probably wouldn't even be angry when I told him the reason for my action. He would even take it in stride. I knew him well enough to conclude on that.

I gripped the knob of the door, and I twisted it, trying to push it open but it didn't budge. The door of his room was normally never as hard to open like this. And because of the way the door inched open a little, I could tell that it wasn't locked from the inside nor from the outside.

Gathering all my strength, I shoved the door hard and it gave away. When I finally got it to open completely, I could see that the cause of the difficulty in opening the door was because of a shoe that had been lodged in a corner of it. On closer inspection, I discovered that it was one of the Alpha's shoes.

What could his shoe be doing by the door? Why weren't they on his shoe rack like the rest of his shoes? This was probably the one he had been wearing since morning so maybe he had kicked it off his leg as soon as he entered the room.

I stepped fully into the room, making my way from the living room of the Alpha's suite to the bedroom. The lights were out but I could still manage to see what was in front of me. When I got to the bedroom, everything was pitch black. So much that I couldn't see anything. So I fumbled for the light switch in the darkeness and clocked it on.

My gaze immediately went to the figure on the bed and I screamed. There was the Alpha, my soon to be husband, lying on his bed with a spilled cup of tea by his pillow and he was even foaming at the mouth.
