The hunters have breached shadow Hollow defenses. Has Magnus finally found Lyra, and is the legendary shadow fang among the invading forces ?

Chapter 14

"The hunters found Shadow Hollow."

The words struck the chamber like a physical blow.

For a heartbeat, nobody moved.

Then chaos erupted.

Warriors rushed for the exits.

Orders echoed through the halls.

Weapons were drawn.

Battle horns continued sounding throughout the hidden city.

Ronan's face became a mask of cold fury.

"How many?"

The guard swallowed hard.

"Thousands."

The room fell silent again.

Thousands.

Not a hunting party.

Not a scouting force.

An army.

Magnus hadn't come to capture Lyra.

He had come to destroy Shadow Hollow.

Ronan turned to his captains.

"Defensive positions."

The warriors immediately sprang into action.

Within seconds, the chamber was nearly empty.

Only Lyra, Ronan, Mara, and Elara remained.

Lyra rose to her feet.

"I'm coming."

"No."

Ronan's response was immediate.

Her temper flared.

"No?"

His silver eyes locked onto hers.

"They're here for you."

"Exactly."

The words echoed through the room.

"If people are risking their lives because of me, I'm not hiding while they fight."

For a moment, Ronan simply stared at her.

Then, unexpectedly, a faint smile appeared.

The smile vanished just as quickly.

But Lyra noticed.

"So stubborn."

Mara laughed.

"That's the nicest thing you've said all week."

The city had transformed.

The peaceful streets Lyra had seen days ago were gone.

In their place stood barricades.

Armed warriors.

Archers lining rooftops.

Families being escorted into underground shelters.

Fear hung in the air.

But something else existed alongside it.

Determination.

These people weren't running.

They were preparing.

As Lyra followed Ronan toward the northern wall, wolves moved aside.

Their eyes followed her.

Not with pity.

Not with judgment.

With hope.

The realization unsettled her.

Why were they looking at her like that?

As if she could save them.

As if she knew what she was doing.

Because she didn't.

Not even a little.

When they reached the wall, Lyra's breath caught.

An army stretched across the valley below.

Torches illuminated thousands of warriors.

Pack wolves from multiple territories.

Banners waved in the night.

Stormfang.

Ironclaw.

Silvermoon.

And many more.

The sight was overwhelming.

Magnus had united them all.

Against her.

Against Shadow Hollow.

Against the truth.

A chill ran through her.

Then she saw him.

At the front of the army.

Mounted on a massive black horse.

A man in dark armor.

Watching the city.

Watching her.

Even from this distance, she could feel his hatred.

Magnus.

The enemy finally had a face.

Miles below the wall, Magnus smiled.

"There she is."

The Shadow Fang stood beside him.

Hidden beneath a black cloak.

Silent as always.

Magnus's eyes narrowed.

"Interesting."

The assassin said nothing.

Magnus chuckled.

"The heir awakens."

His smile faded.

"Kill Ronan."

The Shadow Fang finally looked up.

"And the girl?"

Magnus's eyes hardened.

"Bring her to me."

Back atop the wall, Lyra couldn't look away from the army.

Something felt wrong.

Terribly wrong.

Then her instincts screamed.

Move.

Now.

Without thinking, she lunged toward Ronan.

The Rogue King barely had time to react.

A black arrow sliced through the air.

Passing exactly where his heart had been a split second earlier.

The arrow shattered against the stone behind him.

Silence.

Shock.

Every warrior froze.

Ronan slowly looked at the arrow.

Then at Lyra.

Then toward the darkness below.

The realization hit everyone simultaneously.

An assassin.

The Shadow Fang.

Already within range.

Already hunting.

Ronan's jaw tightened.

"Get down!"

A second arrow flew.

Then a third.

Then ten more.

Battle erupted instantly.

War horns sounded.

Archers returned fire.

The siege had begun.

Amid the chaos, Lyra felt something strange.

A pull.

A whisper.

Like moonlight brushing against her skin.

The sensation grew stronger.

And stronger.

Until she heard a voice.

Soft.

Ancient.

Familiar.

"Lead them."

Queen Selene.

Lyra's pulse quickened.

The voice echoed again.

"Lead them."

Suddenly, the fear disappeared.

Not entirely.

But enough.

She stepped forward.

Toward the wall.

Toward the battle.

Toward the army below.

Silver light flickered around her fingertips.

Small at first.

Barely noticeable.

Then brighter.

Warriors nearby turned to stare.

Ronan's eyes widened.

Even Elara looked shocked.

The silver light spread.

Flowing across the stone beneath Lyra's feet.

Across the wall.

Across the city.

Like moonlight awakening after centuries asleep.

And every wolf in Shadow Hollow felt it.

The courage.

The strength.

The hope.

The city fell silent.

For one impossible moment.

Every eye turned toward Lyra Blackwood.

The rejected mate.

The banished wolf.

The last Moonborn heir.

And far below, Magnus's smile vanished.

Because for the first time in centuries...

The power he feared had returned.

Lyra has unknowingly awakens her first moonborn ability : inspiring and strengthening those around her.
