That evening Lilly and I went for a walk, she’s been so grumpy lately and I’m afraid I know why, she misses Rochelle and so do I, more than I care to admit. As we reached the bottom step, I scooped her up and tossed her in the air. Her sweet laughter rang out like music to my ears and a genuine smile curled on my lips as I caught her. That special moment of both of us forgetting who we were missing was completely shattered by a female voice, “Awe, that was so sweet.”

I turned my head over my shoulder to see Monica typing on her phone and I could hear the swoosh of the message being sent. I snatched the phone from her as she protested loudly for me to give it back. On her phone was open messages with a picture of Lilly and myself that she had just snapped and the writing under it, “see how much fun we are having here, she already calls me Mommy.”
