"Hey... Logan?" Sadie grabbed my arm as I pushed her back, getting up towards the bathroom door.
"Where are you going?" She sounded annoyed, her voice turning all squeaky, but I barely heard her over how fast my heart is beating. Who the fuck is stupid enough to try it on with my sister? "We aren't done!" she exclaimed, her hands on her hips as I turned to look back at her.
"Calm down, Sadie. You're acting a little desperate." Her eyes practically popped out of her sockets as I hid my smirk, focusing back on the door to unlock it.
"You can't be serious!" She slammed her hand against the door before I could fully open it, her eyes glaring daggers at me. I moved her hand away like it was a wet sock and watched as it fell to her side. I gave her my biggest, brightest smile.
"Where is Lola? I bet she wouldn't act this way?" I wiggled my brows before Sadie gasped, then finally shoved me out the bathroom door before it slammed shut behind me. It was a cheap shot, pitting her friend against her, but it worked.
The dark halls were filled with bodies of people dancing or looking for a place to be alone. Of course, Violet seemed to be nowhere in sight. Typically.
I peered around every corner looking for where my sister might be. A few couples became rather annoyed as I tore them apart. They didn't say anything—the thunderous look on my face was enough to keep them quiet. I wonder if Sadie cornered me into the bathroom so Violet could sneak off with some weaselly fucker? I wouldn't put it past my twin to try something like this. She does it to our parents constantly, but it's different. She has never done something like this to me.
I climb the stairs to the upper floors, checking through the open plan for anyone who has blonde hair like my sister. I catch Sadie grumbling to Lola and Heather—goddess knows what she tells them—but when their gazes travel up, I know it was definitely about me.
I catch Olly still chatting to some girls. Looks like he is telling them the story of when we went hiking and my dad pretended to be a monster and came out of a cave chasing us back down a hill. The girls seem to be laughing, so I carry on up the stairs. I see Violet's posse spread out through the crowd, so I know they are trying to find Violet to warn her.
I'm going to kill my sister when I catch her.
The landing is quiet as I make my way up to the top. The first bedroom belongs to Sadie's little sister if the pink My Little Pony decorations are anything to go by. The room is also empty, so I'm guessing Sadie had her sister stay somewhere else before the party. Hmmm.
The next room is a study, I'm guessing for Sadie's dad. There are a few documents in terms of routes for patrols and shifts. There is a door in the far corner which, when I investigate further, I find two guys tucked away in various states of undress. One covers himself with a towel as if I didn't catch who it was already. "As you were," I grin, closing the door before they begin arguing about who was supposed to have locked the door.
Still, as my footsteps creak along the wooden floor, I feel the hairs rise up on the back of my neck. Violet has to be close. There are far too many people downstairs. Olly wouldn't let her pull something like this. Even if he was scared of my twin, he would have come and found me to let me know what was going on. I open the next door. The lights are off with the covers moving on the double bed. Grunts and moans fill the air. I see fucking red.
"What the fuck!" I roar, pulling the covers back to find the couple screaming as they try to cover themselves. I realize instantly that Violet isn't one of them, so I toss the covers back to them.
"Sorry," I mumble after I close the door behind me, my fingers raking through my hair. There are two doors left, and so help me goddess if my sister is behind one of those doors.
The first one I try is locked, which instantly pisses me off. If she thinks I'm going to see reason by the time I catch her, she has another thing coming. I knock the door down, seeing a group of girls snort some white powder that makes their cheeks flush, their eyes glaze before they fall to the floor in what I assume is bliss. I check them over, looking at their pulses, relieved Violet isn't caught up in this shit. Most of us haven't even gotten our wolves yet—something like this is seriously dangerous. Part of me wants to tell my dads so they can stop the supply, but I don't want to be that guy who rats out on his pack.
I pocket it away for now, not wanting to deal with it until I know what Violet is up to and who she is with. I reach the last door at the end of the hall. It's not locked, and at first there doesn't appear to be anyone in the room. The bed is still made and doesn't look like there is an ensuite I need to search. I'm just about to close the door when I hear a soft sigh.
My gaze swings further around the room until I spot it. Oh hell no.
"Are you fucking kidding me." I rip the guy off my sister who has her half-dressed on top of the wardrobe. She screams at me to let him go as I grab him by the shirt and shove him to the floor before he meets fist after fist.
"Logan, have you gone crazy? We weren't doing anything." Violet screams as I hear a satisfying crunch of the guy's nose breaking. He has the sense to keep quiet and takes the beating as he should.
"Weren't doing anything? Violet, I can see your fucking bra you tried to rearrange, and your panties are still dangling from your ankle!" I punch the guy again, who gurgles on the floor. Violet shuts up at that point, redressing as quick as she can before she pulls me off him. "That's enough. You're not fucking killing him because he decided to kiss me!" She is seething. I can't believe she is this mad. How can she not see this guy is using her? He didn't fight back once because he knew he crossed a line.
"Violet, what is his name?" I demand as she blinks at me, her eyes veering to the left to scan his face. I grab her chin to keep her gaze fixed on me. "Do you not know? Violet, you're not going to waste your time for someone you don't care about and who the fuck doesn't respect you enough to go about this properly. I'm not stopping you from dating or being with someone. But you aren't some cheap slut like your friends." Her green eyes round before narrowing into slits.
"Fuck you, Logan." She takes one step towards the idiot on the floor, and I grab her wrist before tossing her over my shoulder. She screams like a banshee as I storm out the bedroom and down the hall through the party. The music stops, and everyone turns to stare at us. "The next one of you fuckers I catch near my sister will suffer far more than a broken nose. Do you all understand!" Silence fills the room as several people nod before I storm out with Violet on my shoulder.
We make it outside before she wriggles free and shoves me away. "What is wrong with you? Why did you embarrass me like that? No guy is going to want to come within three miles of me after you threatened everyone. I can't believe you did this!" Violet shoves me again, her nostrils flaring before she starts storming off down the garden where Lola and Sadie follow after her.
"Vi, wait up," Sadie says, reaching my sister as she gives me a dirty look. "Nice going, Logan," Lola taunts, although she still looks at me like I'm a fucking snack.
Harriet comes out behind them last, her shrewd eyes looking me over. "I guess the goddess doesn't give with both hands after all. Good thing you're pretty, Logi." She blows me a kiss before skipping to catch up with my sister who is getting into Lola's car as they drive away.
Fuck.
I storm back into the house, pulling the cord to the DJ booth. "Party's over." I grab Olly before we begin the walk back to my house. "You still want to be me?" I ask as Olly runs to keep up.
Apparently, he had more punch than I first thought because he rushes over to the nearest tree, falling to the floor before puking everywhere. "Perfect. Just perfect."
Violet will already be home and no doubt spun some web to my fathers about what happened. They always take her side. "Come on, Olly, let's get you back. Don't want to miss all the fun." I tease, even as we walk through the pack, my stomach tightens in knots.
Logan"You're such an asshole! You know that, right? How am I supposed to show my face at school now?" Violet yells at me in my room, and the tendrils of a hangover are setting in. "Look, you're right. I overreacted, but you're not innocent in all this. Why? You had Sadie corner me so you could make out with some guy you don't even know. That's fucking manipulative, Violet!" She pouts for a moment, but her gaze softens before she shakes her head."I just wanted to feel like a normal girl. I don't want no one to come near me because they are worried one of our dads is going to skin them alive. Now they have to worry about you too.Everyone puts me on a pedestal. Sure, I don't hate it all the time. But some days I don't want to be 'Violet Reynolds.' I just want to be me." I pulled her in for a hug. I knew what she meant. There was so much pressure with being the alpha heirs, and whilst Violet wasn't in the direct line for alpha of the pack, she was still looked at as a role model. If we

LoganSadie was hosting a house party tonight like she did whenever her parents were out on patrol. Why my dads never made the connection to not leave a child on their own for the night was beyond me. Perhaps Sadie persuaded her parents to switch so she could host a party. Who knows.Olly stood beside me in the kitchen where a punch bowl was currently being spiked by goddess knows what. Two kegs sat to the side with a stack of cups, and several of our friends were currently drinking straight from the tap. Tad was DJ for the night, the tunes blasting through the house with the disco lights flashing in time to the beat. Several people were already dancing despite it still being early.Violet was off with her clique of friends. The core trio kept looking my way, and as much as I wanted to tease my sister that her friends were trying to get close to me, she wouldn't believe it anyway. I'm sure she would say in her bratty voice that they didn't fancy me as they remember me eating paste or
RileyThe rest of my shift seems to drag. A few other customers come in for birthdays or anniversary arrangements. Nothing interesting and nothing exciting. Another drab day.I force myself to head to the shops looking for something to have for dinner. Although I only have £20 in cash, so it won't buy a lot. Plus, I need to get some cleaning supplies. Something for the mold that keeps coming back like a plague.I used to be the gamma of this pack. Respected. Now as I walk down the aisle, I see a mix of sympathetic and proud faces. They think they are better than me. As a pack, we should stick together, be there during the hard times as well as the good. Since our world has started to change, it is like we have lost that side of ourselves. Everyone is out for each other. Taking and claiming what they want.If anyone looks at me with pity in their eyes, I think I might very well scream. But now that I'm not close with the alpha family anymore—no one cares how they treat you. This is wha
RileyMy short drive into the main pack square only takes 10 minutes from the school. I have always loved the Silvermoon pack with its snow-capped mountain backdrop and dense green trees that keep us shielded and protected from the rest of the world. It's almost enough to give the illusion that all is right in the world—almost.I park round the back of Flora and Fauna, ducking in through the work entrance, hoping Mr. Jones won't notice I'm a few minutes late. I shut the door so I don't make a sound, tiptoeing across the staff quarters and the back workroom where we prep most of our displays."Riley." I pause, my eyes closing as I hear his gruff voice. I spin to see the back of my boss clipping some rose stems rather aggressively. "Yes," I squeak, chiding myself for acting like an errant child instead of a grown-ass woman. "You're late again. That's 6 times this month. If you can't handle the hours, let me know and I'll find someone else." He peers at me now, and my stomach drops. I ca
Riley"Olly, how many times must I remind you to stop snoozing your alarm? You'll be late for school!" I yell, pulling open the curtain so a bright, blinding light enters my teenage son's room. Olly groans, pulling his duvet up above his head, grunting "5 more minutes."He is 17 going on 5 with the way he is acting. "I've picked up another shift at the florist today and I can't be late. Get up!" I growl at him as the duvet moves along with all his clean laundry tumbling onto the floor. Not that there is any floor to see. This is my own fault. I have spent so much time focusing on Olly that I have babied him to the point where he has been able to get away with this for far too long. It doesn't help that he looks more and more like his father each day. That's both a blessing and a curse."If you want breakfast or a ride to school, you need to get up now," I grumble, picking up a few items of clothing before chucking them into the laundry basket."Mum, I'm up, calm down," Olly mumbles, s
