Chapter Eight

Arya was sure that anger and irritation had mixed up in her blood because she almost couldn’t describe what she was feeling. While the other gathered around for the bonfire; she refused to join them and decided to go for a walk in the woods instead.

Her parents, Eileen and then Brad.

What the hell was wrong with all of them? Why did they all have to choose one day to infuriate her or turn their backs on her? They could have easily picked different days so that on every day they choose to go bonkers she would have a backup and someone to talk to.

She checked her phone for the hundredth time and there were zero missed calls from her parents. She had sent them both a messages earlier apologizing for going against their wishes and saying mean things to them. They had gotten to Mount Mollejo and seeing the serene; she thinks she’s going to have a very good time. She asked them to call her back and even attached a picture of her and her tent.

And that was over five hours before and Arya was sure her mom would have gotten home so she would have seen the text and yet she refused to reply. The thoughts felt like stab to Arya chest and tears welled up on her eyes again but she refused to cry. Arya didn’t remember feeling so bad in just one day, her day started off bad with her parents going host on her and then worse when she and Eileen had an argument and even worst with another argument and she couldn’t find words to describe it when Brad also decided to go bonkers on her. She had never felt the need of a restroom like ever before. get herself locked up in a restroom door and cry her eyes out. Arya didn’t even remember feeling like that in her entire life. In fact, she had never felt the need to cry.

If she had cried before, they were always tears of joy. Of Eileen sweet and heart-warming gifts, of Brad’s mushy gifts and her parents unending care and support. They always made her cry by giving her something she relay wanted and yet those most important people to her in her entire life all choose one day to treat her like crap.

Arya chuckled lightly before shaking her head. She was going to cheer up. She opened her I*******m app and started scrolling through.

Going to her favourite I*******m celebrity’s page and clicking on her videos and then watching them brought a smile to her face. She swiped to her video and realized that she had a hard time loading the videos.

“Ugh! What terrible network” Arya complained while standing to her feet raising her phone and trying to walk around to find network which obviously she couldn’t find easily.

“What a stupid mountain” Arya complained again, not realizing that she was walking further and further into the mountain woods.

Arya stopped felling a cold chill course through her body; looking around her, she immediately wished she had draped a cardigan over her body before walking off angry, now she was cold. The video on her phone continued playing and she sighed and hissed loudly. She couldn’t believe she had to walk this far to get Wi-Fi, so much for some dumb mountain trip.

Arya clicked on the next video and looked around to fix a tree trunk to seat down on, her eyes scanned where she was before she froze, her eyes wide in shock and confusing. Inside of thick tree and short shrubs that was supposed to greet Arya’s eyes, what greeted her eyes were different houses and people walking to and fro.

How was a city in the middle of the mountain? How had no one discovered that there was a city as huge as this in the middle of a mountain? How the hell was a city on a mountain?

Arya was yet to get answers to her question and she quickly raised her phone to take pictures, she had to take pictures to show the others that there was a huge city with weird buildings on the middle of the mountain. Her fingers were quick to click on the shutter and just then; her camera caught her a wolf; pausing at the eerie similarity between the wolf and the wolf in her dreams, she watched as the wolf opened its mouth and started talking. Arya staggered refusing to believe what she had just seen and heard. She shook her head trying to block out the numerous thoughts flowing into her head. A wolf was an animal that couldn’t talk, they were probably shooting a movie, movies like the ones that Brad and his friends had watched in the cinema.

Bit when she looked again, in place of the wolf was a human being still talking and nobody needed to tell Arya that it was the same person who was speaking.

The wolf couldn’t have morphed into the human being right?

The two people having a conversation suddenly turned and Arya found herself frozen in place when she met the electric blue eyes.

“Who are the you?” the latter asked and Arya swallowed her saliva looking everywhere while the people who seemed oblivious to her before suddenly started to take note of her.

“Who’s that?”

“That can’t be a human being right?”

“How did she get through the border?”

“That’s not even possible is it?”

“This has never happened before”

Arya had always had a great sense of hearing so everything was saying were being delivered to her eyes clearly. Realizing that whatever was going on was real, Arya turned and tried to run and immediately tripped on her foot. She turned and what had happened in her dreams, a human being morphing into a wolf happened right in front of her eyes, the human being who had asked who she was, morphed into a wolf right in front of her and started walking to her.

Frightened and scared out of her wits, Arya started using her feet to pull away while screaming “Don’t come close to me!” she yelled and just before the wolf could close the distance between them; Arya felt the air wheeze around her and she suddenly on the back of something.

“Arya! Hold on tight!” someone yelled and despite not even knowing what or who it was, Arya held on tight. Feeling the soft back and furry like things he was holding, Arya was too scared to look or even think twice; she needed to get away from this place.

The air wheezed around her and whatever was carrying was so fast that Arya felt dizzy and didn’t forget to hold on tightly. If she didn’t lose her life at some unknown city in the middle of a mountain and to a wolf, she didn’t dare lose it while escaping either.

By the time Arya came to her senses and whatever was carrying her stopped, she was even more flabbergasted to find out that it was a similar wolf that had carried her. She fell while trying to run away from it. Fear was deeply rooted in her bones and it was more than evident in her face.

“Get away from me!” Arya yelled.

“Get away from me!” she yelled again as tears ran down her cheeks. She couldn’t believe that she had thought that she escaped and all along, she was basically digging her own grave.

“Arya, I need you to calm down” the wolf said and Arya froze refusing to believe her ears. The voice was way too familiar.

“Who are you? What are you?” Arya asked still terrified.

“Arya, I know that this is too much for you to handle at once but I need you to calm down” the wolf replied and Arya watched in horror as the wolf morphed into a human being and right in front of her was her mother.

“Arya” her mother but before she couldn’t say another word, Arya blackened out.

“Arya!” her mother yelled as she rushed towards her and picked her up, carrying her into the house immediately. Her eyes turned teary while carrying the teenage girl into the house while muttering strange words.

This was why they were tried to disallow her to going up that mountain, this was why she had vehemently disagreed with her when she decided to go for the mountain trip even when she had given her everything she wanted since the very first day that she opened her eyes. They had to protect her, they promised to protect her and staying away from that mountain was the first thing they had to do to protect her and all these years they had stayed away quietly, they were able to watch her within arm’s length and even though she was close; they had thought it would still take them a while before they would be able to treat the matter proper and now, they couldn’t.
