16. Hierarchy

     I woke up to the total emptiness of the bed. I sat up, rubbing my eyes softly and trying to recall the previous day’s events. Killian was nowhere to be found. Even though Merida was protesting a lot, it was a good thing he wasn’t here. I didn’t detest him, no. It was just that I couldn’t actually bear to see him after how Merida licked his wolf, Claw yesterday.

“This is all because of you, missy.” I seethed, wondering why wolves could be so intent on being horny, reluctant and stubborn. “How’s any of this my fault? I just did what you didn’t have the audacity to do.” she snickered back at me. “Besides, we have a right to him. He’s our mate,” she finalized, before scoffing.
