Chapter Four

They drove in silence as Kelsey directed Alpha Dennis to her house, he couldn't stop looking and exploring her face as he drove to her house.

Kesley's house was the far opposite Alpha Dennis's house; that would be a long drive for him as he would have to driveway back down the road to his house.

She was grateful for the favor, but she felt terrible for causing him such inconvenience.

"Thanks for the trouble." She said,

"The pleasure is mine." Alpha Dennis smiled; he didn't see it as being inconvenienced; he was rather glad he could help out. More so, he'd just almost run her over; what better way to apologize.

The car got silent again, and Alpha Dennis tried making small conversations attempting to ease off the silence in the car.

"How are your sister and her husband?" He asked her and cringed at how absurd the question sounded.

"They are fine."

"I haven't seen them around in a while." He said.

"You should have seen them tonight; they both attended the ball party held in Troy's honor." She replied.

"I didn't notice; I was in a hurry to leave. You weren't at the ceremony?" He asked her.

"No." She replied to him plainly; she seemed shy to be speaking to the Alpha of the pack she lived in; Alpha Dennis noticed her hesitance.

"Is there a reason for that?", Dennis enquired , there must be a reason she missed the mating ceremony, and he wanted to know.

"Uhmm....nothing much", she hesitated at first but continued, "I had lots of work to do at home and I had to go to the market", she responded.

Alpha Dennis sighed, "Well, I don't think going to the market is an excuse," he disagreed.

Kelsey chuckled, she was surprised that he caught her lie, "That is true", she blurted out, "I couldn't attend the mating ceremony because I don't feel comfortable around the pack members," Kelsey finally said.

Dennis looked at her, his eyes widened, he wasn't getting why anyone would be uncomfortable around the pack, "Why?, I don't understand why you are uncomfortable," Dennis was confused.

"They don't really see me as one of them since I'm human," Kelsey said and hung her head in disappointment.

Dennis sighed, "Why do you think that?, I mean why would you think they don't see you as one of them?" he asked.

"I know your parents and they were both wolves, that's enough reason for you to be a part of us." He added.

Kelsey kept her head bent, "I don't have a wolf in me so they don't really see as a part of them," she grumbled

Dennis understood what she meant, he looked at her and smiled, "You might have misunderstood, but if you think it is that way then I will say sorry on behalf of all the pack members,"  he apologized.

Kelsey's jaw dropped. Once again, he didn't expect an alpha wolf to be apologetic towards her, especially one who was rumored to be fierce and quite terrible. "It's okay, it's not your fault," she responded and smiled back.

Dennis looked at her and different thoughts ran through his head, he thought she was cool to be with.

"Moreso, I will be going back to live with the humans very soon so there's no need to be sorry", Kelsey muttered but he heard her.

Dennis stopped the car and stared at her, "You are going to live with the humans?", he asked, his eyes widened and his mouth widely opened.

Kelsey smiled, "Yes, I'm more like the humans and I don't even feel like the people here. I will go live with the humans and make more money", she explained.

Dennis sighed, he knew she had already made her decision and it would be hard to change it, "Will you like to go out for a drink or maybe dinner. This might be the last time we will see since you will be living with the humans soon", Dennis joked and stretched his hands to her.

He couldn't explain the sudden attraction he felt for her.

Kelsey stared at his hands for a while, "Is he maybe asking me out for a date?", she thought to herself and smiled, "Sure", Kelsey replied Dennis and shook his hands as they drove in silence to the restaurant nearby.

The guards at the door welcomed them in as they walked into the restaurant.

"I don't want to go in there", Kelsey said and stopped at the door.

"Why?"Dennis asked, he cranked his eyes.

"They are all Werewolves, they don't see me as one of them", she grumbled.

Dennis held her hand, "I'm right here", he assured.

"You know who I am," he boasted.

Kelsey tucked her hand in his as they walked into the restaurant, they took their seats and placed their order.

They ate in silence, Dennis kept looking up and taking a glance at her whenever he got the chance while Kelsey was making sure she avoided eye contact with him.

Dennis allowed her to gulp down her last glass on wine and stood, "Shall we?", he asked, his hands stretched out.

Kelsey took his hands as they walked to the counter, he cleared the bills and they walked out of the restaurant. They got into the car and zoomed off.

Different thoughts ran through Dennis's head as they drove, he looked at her and loved the way she smiled. He had always wanted a mate and he thought Kelsey would be a good mate if she were a wolf.

Dennis was tired of getting humiliated by other Werewolves for not having a mate, he doesn't feel anyone and so he wanted to make someone pretend as one and he felt Kelsey would be the right choice.

They turned into the fifth street and Kelsey pointed, "Right there", she said, pointing to the black gate of her house.

Dennis pulled over and removed the key from the ignition, he wanted Kelsey to know what he felt and if she would like to. Kelsey opened the car door to get out but Dennis leaned over to her side and closed it back.

"Wait a minute", he said and took a deep breath, "I have a question", he added.

Kelsey looked back at him with a big smile on her face, "Is everything okay?", she asked him.

He hesitated at first, he thought he would be messing things up if he told her immediately but he couldn't stop himself, "Yeah...yeah sure", he responded.

"Okay, so go ahead, ask your question," she urged.

Alpha Dennis took a deep breath again.

"I..I.. I was just thinking..you know I was just thinking... if...ummm...I was thinking if you could pretend to be my mate" he blurted out.
