Chapter 5

Inside the bedroom, Levi turned to Jonah and said placatingly, "Sorry about that, Dr. Pike. My daughter is too naive. I'm sure she got fooled by someone. I'll give her a good scolding later. Please carry on with the treatment."

"Alright," Jonah responded before swiftly placing the next needle.

Once he placed the final needle, Oliver, who had been unconscious for many days, slowly opened his eyes.

"Dad, you're awake! How wonderful!"

Levi was so emotional that his eyes grew red.

The Griffin family had consulted all of the most famous doctors in the world to find someone who could treat Oliver. Alas, it was to no avail.

In the end, they came to Steinberg and went to great lengths to get Jonah to come and take a look at Oliver.

"You are indeed the genius doctor of Steinberg, Dr. Pike. You were able to save my father from the throes of death! I have never seen anything like this before. From now on, you will forever be the Griffins' most honored guest," Levi declared as he swiftly expressed his gratitude.

Jonah waved his hand and said with a smile, "It's not a big deal. You need not be so courteous with me, Mr. Griffin."

Yet, all of a sudden, Oliver's eyes bulged as he began trembling violently. After sputtering out a mouthful of blood, he lost consciousness once more.

"Dad? Dad!"

Panicking, Levi shouted, "What's going on, Dr. Pike? Quick! Think of something you can do."

Jonah was flustered as well. Sweating profusely, he exclaimed helplessly, "I don't know … I've never seen this happening before …"

"Hurry up and check on my father then!" Levi shot back.

Jonah rushed forward to check on Oliver's pulse. His heart almost stopped beating!

Oliver's pulse was so weak that it meant he was on the verge of death.

In an instant, Jonah paled. Rattled, he backed away from the bed and said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Griffin. I can't be of any help. I can't treat Mr. Griffin Senior's condition. You need to start preparing for the worst."

Levi flew into a rage. Losing his rationality, he bellowed, "You fool! If anything happens to my father, you're going with him! Treat him! Hurry up and treat him! If my father dies, so will you!"

The Griffins of Janover were extremely powerful.

They could easily deal with a doctor.

Jonah was terrified. Filled with anxiety, he scrambled to pick up his needles with his shaky hands, but he dared not do anything.

All of a sudden, he recalled the young man from earlier and exclaimed, "Mr. Griffin, maybe … the young man outside has a way. Ms. Griffin said he has something called a Goldcrow pill that can treat all illnesses, right? Your father's condition is truly beyond my abilities …"

Levi froze as he abruptly recalled Sebastian.

After taking one look at his unconscious father, Levi shot out of the bedroom.

All this while, Sebastian had been sitting leisurely in the living room.

He knew that if Levi wanted to keep Oliver alive, he would come and plead with him at some point.

Oliver's fate would affect every single member of the Griffin family. If he died, the Griffins of Janover would fall apart.

Levi ran out of the bedroom and instantly spotted Sebastian in the living room. He rushed over and shouted, "Dr. Ballard, please save my father! We'll pay you handsomely for your Goldcrow pill!"

Rosalie was startled. She did not expect Levi to actually come out and beg for Sebastian's help.

Chuckling, Sebastian took out a small wooden box and set it on the coffee table.

"This is the Goldcrow pill," he said nonchalantly.

Overjoyed, Levi reached out for the box, but Sebastian said icily, "There's something else you need to know, Mr. Griffin. The Goldcrow pill alone isn't enough. It needs to be combined with my acupuncture treatment before it can effectively treat Mr. Griffin Senior's condition.

"If he consumes the Goldcrow pill by itself, it would be akin to consuming poison!"

Levi stiffened. His hand hung awkwardly in the air.

Then, he swiftly asked with a smile, "Please save my father, Dr. Ballard."

"Don't forget about our bet, Mr. Griffin. Get on your knees and beg," Sebastian reminded curtly.
