Striving For Wrong Truth

“Where are we going?” Purity asked Hazkiel after they sat in the carriage. Hazkiel did not answer the question right away. He waited until the train made its way through the cold late afternoon in Ayria. He took off his hat and placed it on his lap.

“To the town next door. There are another report.”

“About the same case?”

Hazkiel nodded, and Purity knew she was not allowed to ask more questions.

Hazkiel glanced at his sister, and his memories flashed back. Purity, the only sister and the closest person in Hazkiel’s life, is so determined to keep her dream of becoming a scientist like Hazkiel, instead of accepting the marriage arranged by their parents.

Now it’s proven that Purity can be as great a scientist as Hazkiel is. She can even be a reliable assistant for Hazkiel. Hazkiel himself cooperates with the police to investigate strange cases that are sometimes beyond human understanding.
