“Guys, be serious for a minute. We need to get this place in tip top shape before Alpha Lauren’s prisoner arrives.”
“Whatever you say Luna Zane.” Chuckled one of the pack warriors helping get the old prison back in order.
I rolled my eyes and shooed him away, getting back to work myself. I had long been used to the jokes that I was Lucas’s Luna. Being his Beta meant I took on quite a bit of the Luna work until he found one. I had hoped that he would name Maggie, but when his actual mate turned up still alive and kicking, that threw a wrench in things. I didn’t care which woman he chose, they both brought something to the table, I just wished he would hurry up and chose. I had my own duties to focus on.

Lucas I rolled over to find my mate had gone. Her side of the bed was cool, though her scent still lingered. A glance at the clock on the nightstand told me she must have left before dawn for training without waking me.
