Chapter 3: I’d do You

Kai’s P.O.V

“Hello there…dorm-mate.”

I stared at his hand like it was some kind of a foreign object, before my eyes reached up to meet his.

Dorm-mate? The man that I saw this evening in the club…hooking up with another man inside the washroom stall…was now going to be my…dorm-mate?

“Did you wash your hands?”

Fuck it, Kai! Did you wash your hands? Was that seriously the first fucking thing you could come up with?

“Do you take a bubble bath every time you fuck a girl?” Night dropped his hand to his side but tilted his head to the side, giving me a narrow-eyed look.

“N-no…” wow…that got awkward real quick.

“Then why did you expect me to do that?” His eyebrows drew together wearily before he turned and carried his suitcase over to the other side of the room. “Move your stuff off the bed. I want mine.”

“Take this side,” I went over to the bed closest to me and removed all the clothes that I had dumped on it before I went out to the club. “I prefer to stick closer to the window.”

Not that being next to the window was going to be helpful in any shape or form. We were on the sixth floor anyway, so even if there came an option to jump, I’d be falling straight to my death. However, being next to the window made me feel less stuffy.

“Fine by me.” Night shrugged and moved over to the bed, placing his bags up against the wall. “I’ll give you time to rearrange your stuff, since you must have been living alone for a while.”

“Not really,” I shrugged, opening the wardrobe on my side of the room to place all my extra clothing inside. “The senior I was roommates with graduated only a month ago. I didn’t get much time to sprawl around and take over the whole place. Your wardrobe is all empty.”

“Cool.” He got up from the bed at once and placed a suitcase on it. Opening the suitcase, I saw that all his clothes were already neatly placed in hangers and clothing bags, which he simply hung up on the racks before doing the same with the contents of the other suitcase.

Within ten minutes, all his clothes were hanging neatly from the racks and other items that had been folded neatly, were placed into the drawers. However, the last of his stuff to come out of the bag actually surprised me. Because it was an entire bag filled with makeup products.

“You use makeup?”

I hadn't really wanted to be nosey…but in my defence…I had never seen any of my guy friends using makeup before. Frankly…it was more than a bit surprising for me.

“Yeah.” Night spoke nonchalantly, without giving much thought to my question. “I do a few modeling gigs here and there.”

“Ah!”

No wonder he wore makeup. And I wasn’t even that surprised about the modeling gigs. The guy was incredibly handsome…not that it was in any way relevant to me. I was just giving him a compliment…

“You have something against men using makeup now?”

Turning towards him, I blinked rapidly. “I don’t have a problem.”

“You sure about that?” Night raised his eyebrows, coming forward to stand in front of his bed. “You kept staring at us in the club. And you haven’t stopped giving me these looks ever since you met me here.”

Shit! Have I really been staring?

“Nonsense!” I snapped at him, trying not to meet his eyes. “I didn’t stare at you!”

“There are CCTV all over the building. Want me to show you?”

“Look…” I sighed, rubbing at my nape in frustration. “I wasn’t…I didn’t do it on purpose…at the club. And you should be more aware than to keep the stall door open like that! I didn’t think there would be anyone who would use the washroom as a hookup spot!”

Why was it that this guy could get on my nerves without even trying? I didn’t want to be rude, but seriously…he didn’t need to point out all of my mistakes and fling them at my face without a second thought.

“Look man, I’m gonna be frank with you right now so I don’t have to answer this again and again in the future…I’m gay. I like men.” He told me straightforwardly. “It’s not something I like to go around announcing to people in general but since you saw me hook up in the men’s room tonight, I thought I’d give you a prior warning.”

“And I’m not homophobic.” I reassured him. “I may not be that aware or active about the community, but I’m not a bigot either. So you being here doesn’t bother me…as long as you don’t try hitting on me.”

“Seriously? The misinformation you guys have about the community is astounding.” Night scoffed. “I don’t go around hitting on every man I set my eyes on…that’s like saying straight men can fuck anything with a vagina.”

Well…that got the point through.

“But if I like someone, I’ll be clear about it.”

I looked up at him sharply, watching the side of his lips tilt up into a smirk ever-so slightly.

Was it just me…or did it really just feel like he was talking about me?

I was about to ask him about it, since he had decided to be frank with me just now…before I saw him take off his jacket and then tug his T-shirt over his head to reveal the rigid planes of his chest.

Fuck!

Why did my mouth suddenly feel so dry? What the fuck was wrong with me?

He took out one of those folding laundry baskets and placed it at the side of his bed before dumping his clothes into it…all the while I was unable to turn my head away from him.

It was clear from the way he was built that he worked out. So far, I had thought that only Devon from my group had a nice figure, but now that I’ve seen Night…I felt this strange tingling in the pit of my stomach that I couldn’t explain.

“I’m gonna take a shower.” Night’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts. “Or do you wanna freshen up first?”

“I’m good.” I told him, swallowing. “I’ll change here.”

“Fine.”

Slinging a towel over his shoulders, Night went inside the bathroom without a second thought.

“Why is it so hot in here?” I muttered under my breath as I got up from the bed and went to my wardrobe to change.

Taking off the clothes I’d been wearing, I threw them into my own laundry basket and pulled on a pair of shorts to get ready for bed. It was as I was searching for a T-shirt to wear that I heard a whistle from behind me, making me jump and turn around to face Night, who was now standing on the other side of the room, leaning against the opposite wall with nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist and water dripping from his hair as he looked at me up and down with those hazel eyes of his; a small smirk playing on his lips.

“I’d totally do you…if you let me.”

How could you?” He snapped, his temper flaring. And to add insult to injury, Kelly rounded the corner at that moment, her backpack slung over her shoulders as she picked up an apple from the fruit basket on the table. “Also…word has it that he targets hot DILF’s, especially married ones.” She added with a smug smile.“Kelly! What the hell!” I snapped at my seventeen year old daughter, who simply shrugged and stood to the side, munching on her apple. “You’re just making this worse!”“I’m just saying what the mom’s are saying.” She shrugged again.“And how, pray tell, do you know what a

Chapter 114: AlwaysKai’s P.O.VSix years later…The beach stretched out before us in endless waves of sapphire and teal, the soft rush of the tide a soothing soundtrack to the most important day of our lives. We had chosen Night’s father’s beach house in Florida as the venue—an idyllic spot with sprawling, sun-kissed sand and a gentle breeze that carried the salt of the sea.A pathway of white rose petals led from the entrance of the beach house to the altar, which was an artful arch made of intertwined driftwood, adorned with clusters of white lilies and ivy.Delicate strings of fairy lights were wrapped around nearby palm trees, and lanterns hung at varying heights, swaying gently with the breeze as they caught the late afternoon sunlight, creating a warm golden glow.A canopy of sheer white fabric fluttered above rows of white wooden chairs, draped with ribbons of blue and green that mirrored the colors of the ocean.Guests filled the seats, familiar faces and old friends from col

Chapter 113: A Post-Engagement Treat Kai’s P.O.VThe last of our friends were starting to head out, their faces lit up with tired but content smiles, like they’d just had a blast. It had been a good celebration, and I could tell they were happy for us.First, Cole stepped up, his tall frame looming in the doorway as he flashed us his usual wide grin. "You two really knocked it out of the park with this place," he said, throwing an arm around Night’s shoulder and giving him a playful nudge. "I’m glad you guys are starting fresh. Don’t mess it up, alright?"Night rolled his eyes, but the smile on his face said he wasn’t actually annoyed. "We’ll try not to, Cole.""Good. Well, I’ll leave you to it. Don’t go getting into too much trouble now." He gave us a mock salute before stepping out the door, waving as he disappeared into the hallway. Landon, with his usual goofy grin, was holding Devon’s hand like he couldn’t quite bring himself to let go. "This night was awesome, guys," he said,

Chapter 112: This Is HomeKai’s P.O.VA few days later, we drove to the condo unit that Jonathan had previously bought for Night to live in, so he could live off-campus and stop sharing a room with me. The same condo that I had visited several months ago, when I had still been fighting with myself over where my heart truly belonged. But now… now we were here together with his parents’ blessing, and we were here not because of Night’s obligation to this family and their business, but because we were free to use this as we wished. And we wanted to.The condo that my sister had helped me get previously may have been cheap, but it was tiny and not enough room to have sleepovers and host our friends. But this one was definitely bigger and brighter. Perfect for me and Night.Tonight the condo was filled with the kind of warmth and noise that made the walls feel more alive than mere brick and plaster. Laughter bounced from one corner to another as our friends, our found family, filled the sp

Chapter 111: Just Me and HimKai’s P.O.VHow foolish had I been? The whole time, I was thinking that the only lives that would be affected by the revelation would be mine and Night’s.I didn't stop to think about the consequences it would have on their family. I had been so… selfish.I didn't even consider that Night might end up feeling horrible because of the things that I had brought to light. What if things turned out badly? What if Night ended up hating me? I couldn't help the wave of relief that washed over me as I watched their family embrace each other. Thank God it didn't turn out that way.I may have acted rashly and opened wounds that I shouldn't have opened, but at least, in the end, it all worked out to be in their favor.I guess it was mostly thanks to Jonathan finally having his senses return. If he had been too stubborn to see his faults, we probably would be having a very different scenario now.Still, I felt horrible for my own actions. I felt like a child who could

Chapter 110: Once A House, Now A HomeNight’s P.O.VWhen I turned to look at my mother, I had this undeniable feeling that our family was going to crumble. There was no other way to go about it—what was the right way of proceeding with your life when you suddenly find out that the man of your family turned out to have never loved you at all? That instead he had someone else occupying his heart, whether he admitted it or not?Thinking about it that way made me realize something else as well, the other side as to why my father had kept the truth. Just like Rosalie had said during her earlier fit, why would any woman want to waste her life being married to a gay man who could never love her the way she wants to be loved and never need her physically in the way that she wants to be needed? My father hadn't held back on the truth not only because of his troubled past, but because he was holding this family together…because he didn’t want me to grow up with only one parent, facing prejudice
