“No way, I hate your little wimp of a boyfriend.” Drew says definitively with a straight face.

My own drops in disappointment as I follow him around the apartment.

"What? Since when?"

Drew shrugged, finding his sneakers under the coffee table and sitting on the couch to pull them on. "Since always. I only tolerate him because he seems harmless and you like him."

He stood up, his expression unchanged. "But he's still a hormonal crazed teen boy, and there's no way I'm letting you go to a party with him at his house in the middle of the night."

I open my mouth in shock and then shut it again. Dang it. So I guess Marshall was right.

"Drew, you can't do this!" I whined, feeling a surge of frustration.

Drew walked by me. "Actually, I can. I’m your legal guardian, Mia.” He speaks, his words filled with authority.

I let out a loud groan and stomp my foot, but he doesn’t even flinch.

It’s almost comical how the tables have suddenly shifted and now I have to look at my older brother who only has three years on me like a father figure.

He stops by Hayden’s bedroom door and pounds on it. “Stop fixing your hair, Hayde, we gotta go or we’ll be late.”

Seconds later, Hayden walks out and his shoulder length blonde hair is tied in a man bun that actually makes him look kind of cute. Well kind of cute if he didn’t have such a rugged physique. The muscle shirt he adorns put his ripped arms out on display for everyone to see and he definitely looks like the kind of guy who goes to the gym four times a week.

They’re all gym rats; Drew, Scott and Hayden but Hayden is definitely the largest of the three.

"Why are you yelling?" Hayden asks impatiently as he grabs a water bottle from his backpack and gulps some down. His blue eyes land on me, and he raises a curious brow. "Why's our little princess mad?"

I pout, sinking down onto the couch and crossing my arms over my chest. "Drew won't let me go to a party at my boyfriend's house tonight."

Hayden's expression turns thoughtful as he glances at Drew. "You mean Marshall? I've never liked that kid."

I look at him incredulously wondering how they all could hate Marshall when they’ve only met him a handful of times. He’s the perfect and sweetest boy on the planet. How could they not like him?

"Everyone's literally gonna be there, and I'll be the loser girl who's forced to stay home by my lame big brother.” I whine knowing very well how childish I sound.

But I can’t even pretend to mask my frustration and disappointment.

Drew rolls his eyes. “Yeah and your lame big brother isn’t changing his mind.”

I turn to Hayden, my eyes pleading. “Hayden, help, please.” I whine.

Hayden shrugs and gives me a sympathetic look. "Sorry, M. Drew's the boss."

I let out a frustrated groan. "Arg! I hate you!" I yell even though I know Drew won’t really take my outburst seriously.

He smiled unapologetically.

"And I don't care as long as you're safe.” Drew speaks, his tone firm but laced with amusement. He walks over and plants a kiss on my forehead. “See you later kid. We're off to work. Scott will be back from his shift soon to watch you. You two can order pizza and make him watch Barbie a movie or something. Doesn't that sound fun?" His tone is mocking, and I fight the urge to scream that I’m not twelve anymore.

“See you, M!” Hayden calls out as he shuts the door behind him.

I could practically feel everyone’s eyes on me as I walked into school the next day.It wasn’t too surprising with how quickly gossip tends to spread around here. And I had no doubts Brooke had been running her mouth to everyone.I always knew she never liked me. Especially when I started dating Marshall. But to expose one of my biggest secrets like this? It was diabolical.I perked up when I saw a familiar auburn haired boy standing in the courtyard with a bunch of his buddies all in their letterman jackets.I jogged up to him.“Hey Marshall!”Marshall spun around and I saw his face drop slightly. He turned and said something to his friends and they all begun to leave but I didn’t miss the accusatory looks they shot me in the process.I let out a sigh as I reached Marshall, locking my thumbs into the straps of my backpack and shifting uncomfortably. This was more than awkward.“Everyone hates me, huh?” I told him.He gave me a small, weak smile.“They don’t.” He said and I could tell

“You’re so grounded.”I stumbled and almost tripped over air when I heard Drew call out."Excuse me?" I asked, my voice rising in indignation. “What do you mean I’m grounded?”Hayden reached out steadying me by my elbow so that I regained my balance.Scott shut the door behind us as we walked into our apartment. He was holding an ice pack to his face clearly having had taken more of a punch during his fight than he wanted to admit. His eyes shifted from me to Drew clearly interested in the scene about to unfold.Drew tossed his bag on the floor before turning to face me. He rolled out his shoulders.“You heard me, young lady. You clearly disobeyed my rules and snuck out to meet your doucebag boyfriend. You’re grounded, Mia.”My mouth dropped not believing what I was hearing right now.Hayden snorted out a laugh. “Dude, you sound like such a dad right now.”Drew shot him a glare. Hayden immediately shrunk back.“This er… sounds like a sibling thing so we’re just gonna go. Come on Scot

I completely understand and get why Scott said Drew would be mad that he brought me here.Driving up to the Sunset Bar, you’d think that it was just that. A bar.The neon sign overhead seemed perfectly normal as it case casting a slight glow over the parking lot where Scott had parked. When we entered the place had been fairly filled up when Scott and I walked in, the place seemed normal enough, with people laughing and chatting over drinks. But you can imagine my shock when instead of staying upstairs where I thought Scott would change into a bartender’s uniform or something, instead we were ushered through a back door and came down to the basement where an entirely different world lay.The soft country music from upstairs grew distant, replaced by the buzz of loud rock music. My mouth practically dropped as I looked around dingy and dimly lit place filled with fighting rings and rowdy men and women cheering on different people in the rings beating each other’s faces in.The air was

I freeze immediately recognising Scott’s voice.Oh my gosh. The back door swings open and the next thing I know Marshall is being pulled off of me.Oh my gosh!I sit up and Scott’s face comes into view. He looks away immediately shielding his eyes. “Goodness, Mia! Get dressed, we’re leaving.” He snaps.I feel all the blood drain from my face.Oh. My. Goodness! How did he even find me?I scramble to sit upright immediately throwing my top over my head as I get out.Marshall looks so embarrassed standing there in only his jeans. I want to rush towards him and apologise but Scott immediately grabs my arm yanking me in the direction of his car.“I am so freaking disappointed in you Mia! What the hell were you thinking?” Scott starts going on a rant lecturing me all the way to his car.I look back at Marshall hopelessly not being able to do anything as Scott gently pushes me into the passenger seat.Scott gets into the driver’s seat and for a second he just places his hands on the steering

I’ve never been the rebellious child.I mean I’ve never really had the chance, anyway. My father was so controlling and strict, what I had didn’t even qualify as anything close to a normal childhood. But now, as I looked out of Marshall's car, parked in front of his house where his party was already in full swing, I felt a thrill of excitement mixed with trepidation. “You alright babe?” Marshall asks as he opens the door to his car for me.We’re parked outside his house which is already alive with music and kids practically spilling out.I try not to think about how Drew will definitely murder me when he gets home and realises I’m not there. That’s if Scott doesn’t beat him to it.I saw the perfect opportunity after Drew and Hayden left and Scott hadn’t come back yet to quickly change and slip out the door.I hadn’t really thought about the repercussions of my impulsive actions but now that I was here with Marshall, nerves ate at me and I felt like I could throw up.I look up at Mars
