'Is he saving us?' Nyra chuckled. 'Oh, well, I don't blame him because we thought we needed rescuing a few hours ago. Which makes me wonder how he got here. How did he know we were here?'

How could he possibly save me? I’d be lucky if he didn’t try to harm me instead. I rolled my eyes as I leaned toward them on the front porch.

Nyra had masked my scent again and ensured that Leo couldn't recognize me.

'Someone got hurt,' I answered her. 'That's why he's here.'

"Dr. Vale is an honored guest in my house, Alpha Leo," Viktor hissed as they looked eye to eye. "She won't leave my house unless she trusts your company."

"How is she an honored guest when you're keeping her here against her will?" Leo snarled, his fists clenching, and I knew he wouldn't mind knocking them against Viktor’s face.

He was way quicker to anger than he looked. But I just stood behind Viktor and folded my arms across my chest, wanting to see how this would unfold.
