“You! You are the girl from last night?” the man who opened the door said immediately. My heart jumped. I quickly let my hair fall forward, covering my face. I didn’t want him to recognize me, I didn’t want anyone to really see me. More than anything, I never wanted to meet him again. “I forgot something,” I muttered, keeping my eyes fixed on the floor as I stood in front of him. “Oh,” he said. “He went down to the lobby to look for you. Wait here, let me go tell him you are back.” Before I could respond, he turned and walked out of the room. I didn’t wait to think about what he had just said. Panic rushed through me. I looked around the room quickly, searching for anything useful. My eyes landed on a wallet lying on the bed. I grabbed it, opened it, and saw a lot of cash inside. I took only what I knew would be enough to pay for a cab, then dropped the wallet back where it was. Without wasting another second, I ran out of the room and straight toward the lobby. As soon as I got there, I saw him, the man from last night walking away, shirtless, with the same guy I had met in the room. I turned and rushed out of the lobby immediately. As I stepped outside, guilt twisted in my chest. I was sure that when he noticed the money was missing, he would assume the worst. He would probably think I was just a prostitute who had come for his money. I flagged down a cab and told the driver to take me back to the pack. The drive took almost two hours. I sat in silence the entire way, my thoughts heavy and tangled. When the cab finally stopped in front of the pack house, I reached for the door. Before I could open it, the door suddenly swung open from the outside. Aurora stood there, staring at me. She gasped the moment she saw my face. “Oh my goodness, Athena! Where have you been?” she exclaimed. “We searched everywhere for you last night and again this morning. And now you show up in the afternoon with your neck full of hickeys!” Her voice was loud, full of shock, and I felt my face burn with embarrassment as everyone around us seemed to listen. “What!” I heard my mother shriek from inside the house. My heart sank. I stepped in quietly and shot Aurora a hard look. She only smirked, clearly enjoying every second of this. “Athena Davis!” my mother yelled. “Where are you coming from, looking like this?” Her face turned cold, and I knew immediately that this wouldn’t end well. “Mom,” Aurora added, her voice sweet but cruel, “she’s wearing the shirt of the man she spent the night with. What a nice way to show up this afternoon.” Something inside me snapped. “You caused this!” I yelled, turning to Aurora. “Everything started after you gave me that drink last night.” I should have known better. All my life, Aurora had never been on my side. She hated me simply for existing, for being the twin without a wolf, the disgrace. Even our parents barely acknowledged me as their child. To them, it was shameful for the Alpha and Luna of the pack to have a daughter with no wolf at all. Aurora had suddenly started acting nice to me a few weeks ago, and I had foolishly believed it was real. I didn’t realize it was all a trap until the effects of that drink hit me. “So let me get this straight,” my mom shouted angrily. “Your sister gave you a drink, and that made you go out there and sleep with every man you saw at the party?” “Mom!” I cried. “I didn’t sleep with every man. I made a mistake, I walked into a stranger’s room.” Tears streamed down my face as I spoke. “And why were you in a stranger’s room in the first place?” my mom demanded. Aurora didn’t miss the chance to speak again. “Mom, I told her Silas only went to change his shirt because someone spilled a drink on him. I said he would be back soon, but she insisted on going to meet him. I even told her he was in room 307.” My eyes widened in shock as her words sank in. “You lied, you said—” I started, but my mother cut me off immediately. “Shut up!” The front door opened suddenly, and my father walked in with Silas beside him. Shame crashed over me so hard that I couldn’t even lift my head to look at him. Just like that, two years of our lives felt wasted, destroyed in a single night. “This is the whore you were going to mark last night,” my mother said coldly, pointing at my neck. She grabbed me roughly, pulled me closer, and yanked my shirt open, exposing my chest. “This is exactly what she was doing while you were waiting for her,” she added cruelly. I could feel Silas staring at me. When I finally dared to glance at him, his eyes were filled with anger and pain. “Two years,” he shouted. “Two years of my life wasted on you. I didn’t touch you because I respected you, and in just one night, you spread your legs for another man like the whore you are?” His words cut deeper than any blade.I stood frozen in the corner, unable to speak, unable to defend myself. My throat felt tight, and my body wouldn’t move. My father sighed heavily. “No child of mine will bring disgrace to this pack,” he said. “You have been a disgrace since birth. You finally found someone willing to accept you, and with your foolish, reckless behavior, you ruined it. Tell me—who in this pack will ever want to settle for you now?” “Dad, I’m sorry,” I cried. “I’m so sorry, please.” I dropped to my knees in front of him, begging, my tears falling freely onto the floor. But his expression didn’t soften. “By the power vested in me as the Alpha of this pack,” my father said firmly, “Athena Davis, you are hereby banished from the Light Moon Pack.” I froze completely, “Alpha, I think that’s a bit…” Silas began, but my father cut him off instantly with a low, threatening growl. I turned desperately to my mother and my sister, silently begging them to help me, to say something in my defense. Instead, they both wore looks of satisfaction, like this was exactly what they had been waiting for. “Go inside, pack your things, and leave this pack for good,” my mother said coldly. “I should have given you to the humans years ago, just like my sister suggested. That way, we could have avoided the disgrace you brought upon this family today. Leave before any other pack members find out what you did.” Her words crushed whatever hope I had left. “I’ll help her pack,” Aurora said quickly, already turning toward the stairs. There was excitement in her voice as she ran upstairs. I watched her go, my heart aching with confusion. What had I ever done to deserve this much hatred from her? Why did she hate me so deeply? “One of the pack drivers will take you to the pack border,” my father said firmly. “From this moment on, you are no longer a member of this pack. You are forbidden from ever setting foot here again.” Then he turned to Silas. “If you are still willing,” my father continued, “Aurora would be more than happy to have you as her mate. She has been in love with you ever since you started training at the academy, long before you ever met her evil twin.” That was when it finally became clear to me, this was the real reason I was being cast out.Azrael“Why do you ask?” Athena asked, her brows slightly furrowed.I had been standing there for longer than I cared to admit, watching her from a distance. She hadn’t moved for several minutes, her attention completely fixed on the memo. There was something in her eyes—something she was trying hard to hide, but I could see it clearly. Desire, a quiet longing.I had also noticed Jethro before he approached her. The way he walked up so comfortably, the way he spoke to her and worse, the way he touched her so casually. It didn’t sit well with me. It stirred something sharp and unpleasant in my chest—jealousy, mixed with a rising anger I couldn’t quite explain. I didn’t like him near her and I needed to have a word with him.“I told you I was watching you,” I replied calmly. “You have been staring at that memo for quite some time.”She shook her head quickly, brushing it off. “I’m not interested,” she said with a quiet sigh. “This kind of thing isn’t meant for people like me. I don’t h
AthenaI stood in front of the notice board at one of the corners in the pack, my eyes fixed on a freshly posted memo. It was an announcement calling for new recruits to join the pack’s warriors. The bold letters seemed to pull me in, making it hard to look away. My heart stirred with something I had buried for a long time—desire, longing, a dream I was never allowed to chase.“You have been standing here for over five minutes,” a voice said behind me. “Don’t tell me you are thinking of joining the king’s army.”I turned slightly and saw Jethro, one of the palace guards. He leaned casually against the wall, a small smile playing on his lips. We had grown close over time, ever since I started working as a cleaner in the king’s office. He was one of the few people who spoke to me like I mattered.I let out a quiet sigh and looked back at the memo. “I have always wanted to be a warrior,” I admitted. “Not just a fighter, I wanted to lead, to plan battles, to stand on the front lines an
AzraelWe broke apart immediately. Athena stepped away from me at once, picking up her cleaning supplies like nothing had happened. She moved to the other side of the office and began working, her movements controlled, but I could tell she was trying to steady herself.I walked back to my desk and took my seat, forcing my expression back to normal. Another knock came from the door. “Come in,” I said. The door opened, and my mother stepped inside. Her eyes moved around the room before settling on Athena. A slow smirk spread across her face as she took in the scene, then she walked forward and sat down without waiting to be invited.“The woods behind the hall were not enough for you?” she said casually. “You had to bring your activities into the pack? Into your own office?”I frowned slightly, keeping my voice even. “What are you talking about?”She leaned back in her chair, clearly amused. “The business between you and your mistress,” she said, pointing directly at Athena.Athena froze
AthenaI stood in front of the king’s door, holding my cleaning supplies tightly in my hands before I finally raised one hand and knocked.I had tried to avoid coming here, my plan had been simple—my plan had been to clean his office first and leave his room for later, hoping I would not have to see him at all. But when I got there, I was told he was still inside. That ruined everything. So I changed direction and decided to come clean his room instead. On my way, Talia stopped me for a quick conversation. It wasn’t long, but it delayed me just enough. By the time I got here, I was told he had already returned to his room. At that point, I had no excuse to turn back. The door opened almost immediately, like he had been standing right behind it. And there he was, shirtless. For a second, I forgot why I was there. His entire upper body was exposed, every muscle defined, I forced my eyes upward, trying to focus on his face instead of the rest of him. He looked tired, not just a little t
AzraelFor a second, all of us froze, all of a sudden, Andrew staggered. He stood there for one heartbeat, eyes wide, like he didn’t understand what happened. Then his legs gave out and he hit the ground hard. Blood poured from his chest. There was movement in the trees, a shadow shifted and branches snapping, someone was running. “Gabriel,” I snarled. “Go after them, now!.” Gabriel didn’t wait, he turned and bolted into the trees, his ash-gray wolf vanished into the dark. I ran to Andrew, he was on his back, coughing. Blood spilled from his mouth with every breath. His chest was rising fast, then slower. A smell hit me before I reached him, metallic and bitter. The bullet he was shot with was laced with silver. I dropped to my knees but I didn’t touch him. I didn’t want to risk getting burned with silver, if I grabbed him now, it would eat through my skin. “Who sent you?” I demanded. My voice came out rough. “Andrew. Talk. Who?” He was gasping, his eyes found mine,
AzraelAfter ending the meeting with Gabriel and Theo, I headed toward the back of the pack. The place was quiet. It was the same spot where Athena had been that night and where Andrew had attacked her.My steps slowed as I got closer. I tried to push the thoughts of her away, but it was useless. The moment I reached the exact place where I had kissed her, everything came rushing back. The more I tried to forget, the stronger it became. I shouldn’t have kissed her. Now I couldn’t stop thinking about her. Ryker wasn’t helping either. He had been restless ever since that night, constantly pushing me to go to her. He didn’t care about the consequences or how complicated things were.He only cared about how she made him feel. He kept replaying it, the way she touched his fur, how gentle her hands were, the sound of her laughter. Even the pain of shifting didn’t matter to him. He would go through it all over again just to feel her touch. I clenched my jaw and forced those thoughts aside.
Athena“What do you want?” I asked the moment they stepped into the room. Both of them wore deep frowns, their faces filled with anger instead of concern. My mother let out a short, mocking laugh and turned to my father. “Did you hear that?” she said. “She’s asking what we are doing here.”They mov
AthenaBy the time I finished scrubbing the entire kitchen, my body felt like it was about to give up. My back throbbed with pain, and my arms felt weak from all the work. If not for Talia, who came in later to help when she didn’t find me in the room, I wouldn’t have finished on time. She had work
Athena“Come in.” The voice came from inside before I even had the chance to knock.I pushed the door open slowly and stepped into the Gamma’s office, the room was quiet. My eyes moved around, searching, but there was no one in sight. For a moment, I hesitated just inside the doorway. Someone had
