Chapter 29: Mine

Devon’s POV:

This was impossible, how could she feel my emotions? I asked myself but the sharp burst of warmth in my chest reminded me that I already knew why.

"Damn." I growled as I ran out of the room, her scent a subtle mixture of freshly cut grass, fire and vanilla. It made my wolf instincts kick in and I had to stop and brace myself against the cool walls, trying to stay sane, to tighten the thin chains of control around my wolf.

'Stay!' I commanded to him and felt his disappointment as he quieted down.

I kicked off the wall and took off, out of the open door and down the front stairs. The car was missing. She took the car.

She left.

A sense of urgency took hold of me as I ran back inside the house and sniffed. There. Her scent was faint. It was always so faint even when she was near. Why? What was holding her? My eyes widened as I recalled her words.

Xavier. Glamour. Human realm.

It suppresses my wolf instincts.

"Bloody vampire." I scowled at the wooden floorboards, feeling
