Chapter 37: The Freki's Heart

Louisa’s POV:

I could feel my heart calming as I dragged my fingers through Daniel's fur, he was sleeping in his wolf form, too exhausted to change forms and it was a good thing for him as being in his other form sped up his healing.

I watched him snuggle into my lap and press his snout in my palm, his eyes opening and closing as he peeked at my face.

I was happy and so relieved that he was back, I breathed in heavily as a scene from earlier flashed before my eyes. I was sleeping when the Beta's wife had barged in my room with a strained look on her face, I had expected the worse but when a bleeding Daniel had stumbled through the main door of the mansion, his feet bare and bleeding heavily on the white carpet as he had collapsed onto the tea table and turned into his wolf form. I closed my eyes and buried my face in his neck, nuzzling the fur there as we breathed together. My mate was alive and safe, it was like everything was right with my world again.
