Mia
I climbed down from the bike the moment we reached the house. I pulled off my helmet and handed it back to Max’s copy without a word. After what happened at the biker’s club, the last thing I wanted was to be near him. “Rolex.” I froze at the sound of his voice. I hadn’t asked for his name, so why was he telling me? Slowly, I turned to face him. “I don’t care who you are,” I shot back coldly. “That doesn’t mean I’ll tell you my name.” He smirked, that same annoying smile he always wore. It hadn’t been long since I met him, but I already knew he was trouble. “You don’t need to tell me,” he said flatly. “I’ve already heard enough from my brother.” With that, he swung his leg over his bike, slid off, and walked inside. I followed behind, keeping my distance. The moment we stepped inside, he suddenly stopped in his tracks. Confused, I frowned and stepped around him only to see what made him freeze. Maxello. Sitting on the couch with Harper straddled across his lap. “F*ck…” Max groaned, his hands gripping her breasts as Harper threw her head back, moaning like she’d lost her mind. Their clothes were scattered across the floor crumpled. Harper’s body rocked against his like she owned him. The sight made my stomach twist. Then, Maxello’s eyes flicked open and landed straight on me. Our eyes locked. “F*ck! Mia!” he cursed, shoving Harper off him so fast she stumbled. “What the hell, Max?!” Harper snapped, glaring at him. She turned and she didn’t even care that I saw her like that when she finally noticed me standing there with Rolex, both of them scrambling for their clothes, yanking them on clumsily. Harper was the first to speak once she finished dressing, “Do you have the habit of barging in on people having s*x? Do you have no shame at all?” she spat. I scoffed, rage bubbling up inside me. Shame? She dared to talk about shame when she was engaged to another man and still spreading her legs for Max? “How disgusting,” I muttered under my breath. Harper grabbed her bag with a huff. “Are you here to babysit him again? Then go ahead cause I’m done here!” “Harper, wait,” Maxello grabbed her wrist, trying to stop her. My anger had reached its peak….like why was he holding onto her? Why was he still after her when she was dragging his life through the mud? “Aren’t you getting married to Nate?” I snapped. Harper froze mid-step and slowly, she turned to me with a smirk tugging her lips. “So what? Yes, I’m marrying Nate. But that doesn’t change how much I love Max.” Shameless. Absolutely shameless. Before I knew it, my hand flew across her face, the sound of the slap echoing through the room. Her head whipped to the side, and her eyes widened in shock. “What the hell?!” she screamed, clutching her cheek. Good. Maybe the sting would knock some sense into her. Maybe she’d realize the lives she was playing with. “Mia!” Maxello shouted, his voice filled with fury as he rushed to Harper, pulling her behind him as if I were the enemy. His arms shielded her like she was the one who needed protecting. “The only reason I asked you here was to help me with her, not ruin it!” he yelled. My chest tightened. It was the first time he had ever raised his voice at me. I stood frozen, my eyes burning as Harper peeked out from behind him with a smug smile of victory. So that was it. In his eyes, I was the monster. “I just hope one day you realize how you’re destroying your life and calling it love,” I shot back, my voice shaking with rage. My gaze locked on Harper, it was enough to cut through her fake innocence. “Bitch!” I spat. Maxello’s face twisted in disbelief. “What?” he muttered, but I didn’t care anymore. I just wanted to get away. Away from both of them before my heart shattered into pieces I could never put back together.Mia“We need to talk. Come with me.” Maxello’s voice was sudden, like he wanted me away from Rolex…I already figured it out that he didn't have a close relationship with his brother, his brow pulled tight when he spoke. What could he possibly want to say?Beg me to help him win Harper back and humiliate me again? No. I was done being his shadow, done letting him get in my head because of what I felt for him, I pushed the hurt down and forced my voice out. “No. Say it here,” I snapped. He looked taken aback, then smoothed his features like he always did, like nothing could touch him, but he wasn't really good at masking up his feelings.“Stop acting like a child, Mia. Come with me.” He ordered, but I didn't move. Rolex leaned against the wall, watching like this was the best show.“Acting like a child? She’s the one coming between us,” I shot back. “I’m trying to protect you as a friend, and you turn me into the villain.” He wasn’t ready to hear it, so I held my ground.“Please, Mia.”
Mia “Come with me!” Rolex grabbed my wrist just as I was about to leave. His grip was strong, almost rough, and no matter how I tugged, he didn’t let go. He dragged me down the hall, ignoring my little struggles, until we reached the balcony. When we got there, I yanked my hand free, my chest rising and falling with anger. I remembered clearly why I had been avoiding him. His own brother’s life was falling apart, yet he just stood by and watched, as if none of it mattered. “Are you even his brother?” I snapped, glaring at him. “Or do you hate him so much that you’re happy to watch his life get ruined?” Rolex only gave a lazy smile, like my words didn’t bother him one bit. “It’s no use,” he said flatly. And the painful part? He was right. No matter what anyone say, Maxello and Harper always found their way back to each other, no matter how toxic things got. “Are you always this dramatic?” he asked suddenly, his voice dragging me out of my thoughts. I frowned. “What?” “It’s pain

MiaI stood by the curb outside the airport, my leg aching from standing too long. It had been hours since I’d been waiting for Max. He promised to pick me up, yet he hadn’t shown.Just when I was about to give up and find my way to his place, a bike pulled up in front of me. The rider pulled off his helmet, and my breath caught.Max? Relief hit me, but it lasted only a second before anger rushed in. I stormed toward him and kicked his leg hard for making me wait so long. But then he lifted his head, and those weren’t Max’s eyes. They were grey. His face looked so much like Max’s, but his eyes were a deep grey, not green. His hair was jet black, longer and brushing his shoulders. He wasn’t Maxello.I froze. “Who are you?”The stranger smirked, studying me with those piercing eyes that made me shift uncomfortably.“You mean he never told you he had a twin? Some friend you are,” his deep voice teased. Unlike Max, who was lean and boyish, this man was broader, rougher, with a kind of wi
MiaEver since I left the bar that night, I’ve been doing my best to avoid Max. Not that it would matter to him. My absence wouldn’t change a thing, he already had Harper, and all I could do was try to focus on myself.I wished I could kill this obsession I had for him. I wished I could go days without seeing him and not feel like I was missing air but my heart never listened. It betrayed me every time.Growing up in the orphanage, all I ever wanted was to be seen. My whole life, no matter how hard I tried, I was never chosen. I watched kids come and go…adopted, given new families. And me? I stayed behind growing older and unwanted.Max changed that, he made me feel seen. He was the only one who ever looked at me like I mattered. He made me believe I deserved something good in life. It wasn’t his fault he couldn’t love me back. Just like my heart chose him, his had chosen someone else.So I stayed, I was there for him whenever he needed me but deep down I wished he would open his eyes
MiaWhat can I really say about unrequited love? Life has never been fair to people like me, the ones who love too deeply. Sometimes, silence is easier than confessing a love that might never be accepted.A best friend, that’s all I’ve ever been to Maxello Aubrey. I doubt he ever noticed the way I looked at him when he wasn’t looking.Stupid one-sided love! What could be more painful than falling for your best friend and then watching him go crazy over another girl, now his girlfriend, someone who doesn’t even see his worth? And me? I’m just the “best friend,” the one who comforts him every time his relationship falls apart. That’s my life right now. I took a deep breath and rang his doorbell. It hadn’t even been a few seconds before he opened the door, like he’d been waiting for me.Of course he had, he already called me, crying on the phone, saying he caught Harper kissing another man.So here I am, running to him like I always do. The door opened, and there he was…shirtless in just
