Chapter Three

"I can't believe you messaged him '' I mumbled, laying back in Sam's bed shaking my head. She lets out a huff, and plops down on the bed beside me.

"I can't believe you ignored him all day. '' She looks up at her ceiling, then over to me.''It's okay yano. To have a male mate" she says softly, although it doesn't help. I didn't make it into the building after I was confused that Zeke is my mate. Sam took that as, we need to befriend him asap, and she insists we all try. So she followed him like a lost puppy, simply for my sake. Which is why she's my best friend.

"I don't know what my mom is gonna say. Or even my father. Fuck" i run my hand down my face, squeezing my eyes shut.

"They don't care either, the moon goddess picked your lovely mate for a reason. They will love him, and you" she reassures, and she's probably right. But how the fuck do i tell them? Oh hey mom, I found my mate. She's a boy? I groan, rolling over on my stomach. ' "You know we don't care, right?" Nolan says from across the room, he's leaning on her dresser with his arms crossed, like always.

"I just don't know what to make of this. I've never.. Been interested in men '' i confess, and i feel small circles being rubbed on my back.

"I'm sure none of this is easy P" Sam says softly, and I just drop my head down into the pillow, swallowing my groans.

"Lets not forget, he's human too. It's been so long since our pack has welcomed a human'' i say, after turning my head from the pillow.

"We will welcome him with open arms" Nolan's alpha tone kicks in.

"What if he's not into dudes? How am I supposed to convince him?" I huff out a breath.

"I hear they feel the bond to an extent, it's not as powerful as it is for us, but they feel a pull" Nolan says, and i slump further into the bed.

No one says anything for a while, and I stare at Sam's wall for a long time, trying to sort through my own emotions. It was so hard to be so close to him all day, and not claim him. Word has gotten around with a few of the wolves, so I know I have to tell my parents.

"Do you want some moral support?" Sam asks, breaking the silence.

"Nah" I mumble, pushing off her bed, and getting to my feet. "I better go before they hear it from someone besides me" I say my bye, and then walk the short walk to my house.

I push open the front door, and my mom instantly yells for me. "Peyton, that you?" she asks.

"Yeah mom" I shut the door behind me, and slip off my shoes. I make my way to the kitchen, and I see my mom cooking, and my dad typing away on his laptop.

"How was school honey?" Mom asks, stirring something. My body tenses, and the words fly from my lips before I can stop them.

"I found my mate" i blurt, i definately planned to ease into this, but that got away from me a lot quicker then i planned.

"That's great news son" my father says, and my mom instantly asks.

"Who is she??" She turns to me, and my body is rigid from all the nerves.

"He's a human from school.." I speak slowly, the nerves all consuming at this point. My wolf is mad at me, and my brain is a wreck.

"Oh" both my parents speak at the same time, then their eyes collide with each other. They are more than likely linking each other, and then my mom turns to me.

"Were you expecting a boy?" mom asks, leaning back against the counter. I shake my head no, and mom nods.

"We will have to talk to Alpha, see how he wants to introduce a human into our pack" dad says, and he shrugs."The moon goddess paired you, there's nothing to be done. A mate is a luxury" he nods, glancing at my mom who just nods. "Congrats boy" he adds, then he puts his full attention back on his laptop. My sister, Maya, chooses that moment to burst through the front door.

"Mom.. Dad.. i'm home" she yells, then she's strolling into the kitchen. She stops in the doorway, glancing around. "What's happening here?"

"Your brother found his mate" Mom says, and Maya smiles wide.

"Awww! Who is she? Does she go to our school?" Maya asks, eating up the space between us. She pulls me into a hug and I return it before pulling away.

"He does" I say slowly, and her eyes widen slightly but she schools her shock.

"I didn't know you swung that way..." she says but shrugs "Who is he?"

"His name is Zeke"

"That new boy? The human boy?" Maya's brows furrow, and I nod my head. "Oh wow" she sighs, but goes to the fridge pulling out a bottle of water. "What do you do then?"

"Gotta talk to Alpha, see what he says" I tell her, fiddling with my fingers.

"Wow" she says again, and wow is right. I don't know the first thing about mating with a guy, how the fuck am i supposed to do that? And how am I supposed to pass on the beta's gene? I can't. I can't get a guy pregnant.

I drop my head back, letting out a groan. "It'll be fine honey" mom says, rubbing my arm. "You can adopt, and train your children to be ready for the beta roll." she says, reading my thoughts.

I guess she's right, but that doesn't change the fact that i don't know what the fuck to do with a guy. I've never experimented before, and I never planned to.

I'm currently in my first period, besides Zeke. Sam and Nolan are sitting in front of us, but my body is buzzing. Sitting so close to Zeke, and not being able to touch him is hard.My wolf is distressed, and my heart is aching. My mind is all over the place, because I don't know what to do with this feeling.

I can't stop my eyes from roaming him, he has light blue eyes, flawless skin, and pump pink lips. Never thought id care so much about another guys lips, but i guess i fucking do. His eyes glance at me, and he's caught me yet again, staring at him. He doesn't say anything about it though.

His body is tense, he's way more at ease around Sam. We have about 15 minutes left of class, and our teacher dismissed us to do whatever we want. Sam and Nolan turn in their seats to face us.

'Have you talked to him?' Nolan sends through our link. I shake my head.

"How was your first day of classes?" Sam asks Zeke.

"It was alright, i haven't really made any new friends"

"Besides us" Sam corrects him, and he smiles small, a dimple appearing by his lips. My heart squeezes at the beautiful sight. For a guy, he is really pretty to look at. He has a nice jawline, and high cheekbones. He catches me staring, again and he clears his throat looking away. I don't think I've said one word to him.

"I saw you with Cam yesterday" Nolan says, and my spine straightens. Cameron is a nice guy, but he is also openly gay. I have no issue with that, the issue is I don't want to have to worry about my mate with another man.

"You're friends with Cam?" I ask, surprising myself. Zeke's eyes fly to mine, and his body tenses further.

"Yeah, he and Ava were my first friends here" I can't stop the scoff that leaves my lips. Ava hates us. She thinks we're all dicks, because she has had some issues with Nicole. Zeke's eyes narrow slightly, and he raises a brow at me. Before he has the chance to say anything, Sam cuts in.

"Ava isn't the biggest fan of our friend group, but it's honestly probably our fault." She tells him, and he eyes her curiously. "My best friend can be kind of a, well a bitch. And she and Ava will get into it, and we never went out of our way to stop it, so really it is our fault" Sam confesses, and it seems to relax Zeke some.

"She told me about that.." Zeke says softly, and Nolan speaks this time.

"We should all go to the local cafe tonight, we could do some work and get to know each other? Bring Ava and Cam" he says smoothly, and Zeke slowly nods.

"I'll ask them" his eyes found me again, but mine never left him.
