I hear a blood curdling scream from outside my family home and run outside desperately to investigate what could be the cause although I knew that scream. It was Charlotte. She couldn’t have done something to hurt Charlotte. Was she capable of that? That isn’t the Claire I know. Claire is always compassionate, kind and helpful to anyone in need. I saw her researching medical publications about Charlotte’s condition once. She wouldn’t take her emotions towards me out on a disabled woman especially not Charlotte who has always been kind to her. I know I had put our fifth anniversary aside today but felt it only right to be by Charlotte’s side on this very important day. I had gotten her a gift and I had still planned on celebrating with her afterwards. Just as I descend the hill, I see Charlotte lying on the ground bleeding from her forehead and cowering from Claire who was trying to put her back into her wheelchair urgently. I can’t believe what I’m seeing? Claire must’ve done this purposely if Charlotte seems to be this afraid of even her touch. I want to believe Claire isn’t vengeful or vindictive. I want to believe I know exactly who I married but it’s hard to tell looking at the scene in front of me. This looked like no accident. At this very moment, only one thing seemed clear.

She hurt her.

I run down the hill furiously and make my way towards Claire with no hiding of how much she disgusted and infuriated me in this moment. She had no right to harm Charlotte. There was no reason for it and no excuses for such behavior. At least not any excuses I’d be willing to accept.

Claire had done the unforgivable and she was not going to be able to talk her way out of this one.

I reach both women and listen to Claire ramble about what had happened but pay no mind to the words spewing from her mouth. I could see this picture clear as day. She had no right to hurt Charlotte. She knew the guilt I felt for what happened to Charlotte all those years ago although I never shared directly what happened to her. It wasn’t my story to tell. I decide I couldn’t listen to her any longer. I shoved Claire out of the way without so much as a second glance, picked up Charlotte carefully, cradled her in my arms and raced back up the hill to my family home where a doctor would be arriving to see Charlotte any moment to assess her injuries. I left Claire to think about what she had just done.

I would deal with Claire later. And for her sake, she’d better hope that Charlotte was alright. The repercussions would be far greater if she intentionally hurt Charlotte and caused great damage to her.

I could never forgive her for this.

Settling into the house with the boy was easier than I expected. Elena had done mostly everything in terms of organizing, cleaning and baby-proofing. Elena was more than helpful with the boys as well. She gladly assisted in my pumping, making sure I ate accordingly for my milk production and storing my excess milk. I wouldn’t have made it the first two weeks without her.Leo and I have been too exhausted with bi-hourly feedings, diaper changes and burping to even shower unless Elena reminded us. The spark we have rebuilt had long since faded but I got a little tinge of it every so often when I watched him maneuver with our boys. He has yet to fail in showing them his love and dedication.I, on the other hand, have fallen into a pit of postpartum depression. I love my boys so much but for some reason, I find myself crying everyday. Leo had called a postpartum specialist to the house but apparently this behavior was not abnormal. Part of me felt guilty for feeling such sadness when I’m

After a long three days in the hospital, Claire and our boys were finally discharged. It had been a long three days as it was filled with floral deliveries, family members wanting to meet the boys, and multiple gift deliveries to our home. Thankfully, there had been no suggestions on any blogs or tabloids of the birth of Logan and Lucas. I knew once we left the hospital that there was a high possibility of that changing but I felt more secure knowing that the security system and gate were fully installed at our new home and that Elena was more happy to hold the fort down.“Hi Momma, we’ve brought some wheelchairs to bring you down to the lobby. Every mom has to ride in one with the baby but in this case, you’ll both have to sit down seeing as there’s more than one baby today.” The nurse says as she’s accompanied by another nurse. They both held the wheelchairs as we sat down holding one of the twins each as instructed. Claire was eager to get home after being here for so long.“Arthur

The waiting area was just down the hall from Claire’s room and I felt obligated to watch the door. I saw the doctors and nurses come and go after what felt like days. “I’m sure she’s fine, Jas.” Nathan says as he rubs my shoulder.“Well I wouldn’t know! I’m out here with you!” Claire giving birth made me extremely anxious. She just had a medical procedure two weeks ago, a miscarriage just a few months ago and she was extremely fragile. “If the nurses are coming in and out calmly, that’s a good sign.” Mason says as he rests his hand on my thigh.“You really think so?” His hand on my thigh calmed my shaking but it didn’t calm my internal panic.“I know so.” He says as he gives a gentle squeeze.I continued glancing down the hall towards their room for about three hours until I see Leonardo come out and make his way down the hall towards us. I jump to my feet instantly expecting to hear the worst as he seemed exhausted.“The boys have arrived. They’re both healthy and Claire is doing w

I watched as Claire used every last ounce of energy she had to push out our boys. She repeated the process as instructed by the delivering doctor although she was in tears and drenched in sweat. It wasn’t until I heard the first cry that I realized she had done it and I see her face light up as she hears his cries.“You’re almost there, momma. We just need you to push one more time and your second baby boy should be out.” The nurse says calmly as she continues to support Claire’s leg. I can see my mother on the other side of Claire’s bed and she seems lost for words as she holds Claire’s hand and looks over at our son. Claire begins pushing again and our second son comes out instantly. Claire begins to sob as she sees both boys being cleaned up by the nurses.“You’ve done wonderful, dear. They look marvelous.” Mother takes a damp cloth, wiping Claire’s face gently as she commends her.“They’re beautiful.” I whisper as I kiss her forehead. After seeing my boys, I became oblivious to al

I finally have a plan on my escape and after reading and watching our local weather reports, it seems that I have the perfect opportunity. There should be tropical storm coming in the next two weeks and this offered nothing but ample opportunity for me to execute my escape, seize my medication to stop my wretched mother from interfering and break into Leo’s home to find Claire and show her why she should’ve heeded my warning in the first place. Julia might have removed my finger and scarred my face but she was not going to deter me from destroying Claire. It couldn’t be helped. She may have altered my image and temporarily broken down my self-esteem but I refuse to be undermined by a scoured woman without premise. “You will fail, Charlotte.” I hear my mother echo as there is a knock at the door.“Hi, it’s time for your first psychiatric evaluation.” The nurse says cheerfully. I get up without so much as a word and follow her out of the room. Anything was better than dealing with the

I feel Leo’s arms holding me as I double over in pain once again. The contractions were beginning to feel closer and more complex. They had easily doubled in intensity since I’d arrived and Leo’s breathing technique had lost its effectiveness. “Dear, a kiss releases oxytocin and that will ease her pain. Be affectionate to her.” It was sweet but also very odd to have so much support from her. “Mother, I’m sure Claire doesn’t want to be affectionate while you all are watching.” Leo was not taking well to her suggestions.“Will it lower the pain?” I ask in a tiredness as the contractions subside.“Yes. It is proven to help.” She says proudly. I look over at Leo in response. If it was proven then he should have no hesitations although I know Leo wasn’t one for such public affections normally. He looks at me and gives a small smile as though he knew exactly what I was thinking. He leans in gently, kissing me until I pull back for air. It wasn’t our normal kisses that usually led to somet
