39. WHAT HIS ACTIONS MEAN

CALLAN LOOKED OVER me by his shoulder while I was still in awe hearing him say that we will be flying with a private jet today. “I mean… I haven’t packed anything yet for that Hawaii trip. The new wardrobe that you gave me was at the mansion. Maybe we should head there first and gather a few things?” There was a noticeable hesitation in my voice. I did not mean to tell Callan what to do. I knew where I should stand with the way this dynamic is gonna work.

He kept looking at me. And instead of feeling annoyed by my sudden outburst of hysteria, Callan looked somewhat amused. “Have you ever heard of having a vacation to release stress?”

I tilted my head as I sat on a chair, shoulders slumped. “Well, I do. Might as well just enjoy myself in a foreign country with only just a robe on and that little white dress,” I said, my words left my mouth with a slur looking at the set of clothes that were a mess on the side.
