LOGAN'S POV

“Lick it off with your tongue.” I ordered, staring directly at her. I get what I wanted from her, a depressed look with a pang of fear in her eyes. I need to put her back in her place. She must have thought highly of herself from the day I almost kissed her.

The mistake will not repeat itself; she is Amaya, a daughter to my family's greatest enemy. I am sure my father would be so proud to watch Alfred's daughter suffer in the hands of his son.

“Are... you saying I should... lick this off?” She asked, her trembling voice giving the words another pronunciation entirely.

“You heard me right.” I replied, a hint of amusement in my voice as I watched my wife quivering.

“I think you make a mistake__You wanted to tell me to clean it. There is no way I could lick coffee off the ground.” Amaya expressed, her tone slow and steady.

“Your corrections are wrong. I am saying you should lick the coffee on the ground.” I smirked, my voice dripping with authority.

Amaya slowly shook her head, moving backward. “I cannot do it.” She responded, her tone shifting from timid to confidential. Even though her quivering figure is constracting to her confidence.

I smiled at her defiance, I was expecting that so I am not shocked. I requested for almost-impossible task so, I have braced myself up with rejection.

Unknown to her that people with choices reject an offer, someone that doesn't have any choice like her would be forever submissive. I know I don't have to stress myself over forcing her, just one word about her father will make her go on her knees.

“I have been thinking of contacting Duncan, he is the buisness man your father have been dying to meet.” I explained, a smirk tugging on my lips.

She replied calmly, “What is that suppose to mean?”

“I might just make your father lose the chance of meeting him forever,” I explained with a wink.

Amaya snapped, “I agreed to marry you because you'd save my father from business calamities.”

I smiled before responding. “Well... I am nice enough to make your father meet Duncan, but I can guarantee that his business will sink if he has a business deal with him. Instead of that, should I just forge his name in a crime scene and he would be tagged as a criminal? Or I should report him for money embezzlement and forged evidence...” I laughed as I watched Amaya quiver.

“Which one did you want me to do? I will get it done within thirty minutes. Just choose one.” I asked, my brows furrowed into a frown as I watched her closely.

She was biting her fingernail, as if she was thinking of what to say. “I will do it.” She mumbled, tears streaming down from her eyes.

Shouldn't I feel remorseful and tell her to leave? Sorry to disappoint humanity; I think this is my best moment. She has something in common with my mom; the way they cry is almost the same.

I could still remember the way my mum cried after seeing my father's corpse in his room, the sadness, exhaustion, frustration and depression in her eyes then, that's exactly what filled Amaya's eyes now. She is paying the price of her father's evil deeds.

I watched her go on her knees, and started licking the floor, her figure quivering as if she was trying not to be irritated, her soft groan filled the room.

That was before echo of my laughter, I couldn't just make a video because this the most funny scene I have ever seen. She is really good at it.

After some minutes, she bleach about to vomit. “Stop licking. Now clean!” I ordered.

She quickly stood up, her face was all red, just like her teary eyes. She must have been sobbing quietly. Without any word she storm out of my room, it seems she have been expecting me to say that. Glancing at the floor, she licked half of the coffee that spilled, which give me nothing but happiness.

I stood up from the chair, putting on my black jacket. I glided out of the room, downstairs. As I opened the door, the image of Alfred hovered, blocking my view of my compound.

“Surprise!” Alfred screamed.

I steady my hand on the doorknob, correcting my expression to a cheerful smile. After positioning my emotions to happy and cheerful. I opened the door more widely for Alfred to enter.

As he entered, he pulled me into a hug which make me nauseated.

Why does he think he can hug me whenever he can? I hate his guts.

“I am so happy to see you,” Alfred muttered, and I smiled, although I was already feeling irritated.

Does he think I am his lover?

Why is he embracing me?

As I opened my mouth to reply, Amaya appeared with a smile. “Dad!” She called happily.

She look different from the crybaby I left in the room. She was smiling but her face was still red.

I think she cautioned herself because of her father. She really loves this devilish man to the fact that she doesn't want him to be worried about her, but anyone could see her red stressful face, and I am already prepared to give an excuse to that if her father ask about it.

“You are here because of Amaya, right?” I laughed, trying to switch the conversation to father and daughter.

To my greatest surprise, Alfred only waved at Amaya.

“You look more beautiful, Logan is treating you well.” Alfred winked at Amaya.

Then dragged me with him to the couch.

We both sat down, an inch separating us as he started talking about business.

Alfred, oblivious as ever, barely acknowledged Amaya's presence. He waved her off, dismissing her as if she were just an accessory to the conversation. That’s when something in me snapped.

Even though I always wanted her to feel humiliated, I pray for nothing but her downfall. Seeing her father here, ignoring her like she doesn't matter, makes me happy.

I am winning.

I glanced back at Amaya, she was still standing there. The shock on her face palpable.

I really wanted to change things and spice this moment up.

What should I do? I thought, moving my gaze back to Alfred.

“Isn’t that nice? He told me he would give fifty percent of the share...” Alfred expressed, his eyes filled with greed.

He is the most cunning and irritating man in the whole universe. How could he ignore his daughter all because he wanted to talk about buisness? I really doubt if God created this man, I am very sure the devil made him out of experiment.

I shut my eyes, trying to think straight. I need to do something, and I don't want something I was going to regret later so I need to choose wisely.

I suddenly stood up.

“What happened?” Alfred asked, startled.

I smiled at his foolishness. So, he can't see his daughter standing there. He is one of the man that should have low sperm count, he shouldn't have given birth to anybody.

I strode to Amaya, who probably can't see me coming. She must have been thinking about some crazy stuffs, her clenched fist and distant eyes proved that.

Wrapping my hand around her shoulder, I snapped her out of her reverie. She flinched, looking up at me. Our gaze met, and I could see the question from her expression. “Why are you touching me?”

I gave her a reassuring smile. “Why are you standing there? Father-in-law is here for us.” I muttered, a smile lingering on my lips.

Amaya stared at me for some moments; she seemed lost and confused. She must have been perplexed because the cruel man who made her lick spilled coffee is suddenly acting nice to her.

It's such a miracle.

It seems she have been waiting for this moment, because the moment our gaze met, she smiled.

Then, I lean closer, whispering to her ear. “You are losing, Amaya. Even your father chose me.”

With a smile I moved away from her, glancing at her... She was still smiling, but the fear in her eyes was evident__a funny gesture that almost made me laugh.

I smiled, her pain and fear giving me nothing but pleasure.

“Such a lovely couple,” Mr. Alfred commented.

Exactly!

We are the perfect couple everyone loves.

Logan’s POVI continued my work on the laptop immediately Beatrice left, she've got her own ways on getting my attention. My fingers sprinted across the keyboard as I worked on a file but the sound of a notification killed my determantion, I checked and it was a news.A shocking one.Unbelievable one. My fingers hovered above the keyboard, unmoving. I didn’t even say a word, I just tilted the screen slightly towards Maxon, my right hand frozen mid-air, my mouth parted slightly. My throat felt like it dried up in an instant.Maxon leaned forward, his brows knitting. “What the hell…?”He looked at me, searching my face for an explanation I didn’t have. “Who could’ve done this?”I didn’t reply. I couldn’t. I was still reading and re-reading the headline over and over again as if it would change.“Renowned Businessman Alfred Rocco Linked to Multiple Deaths – Leaked by His In-Law, Wellington Logan.”Me.They said I leaked it.I leaned back slowly, dragging my palm down my face. My breat

BEATRICE’S POVI watched Alfred—his every movement, his carefully guarded expressions, the way his eyes darted briefly before settling back into that mask of deception he always wore. With years of distance and countless lies between us, I can still see through him.He tries to appear composed, but I know better. Beneath that well-fitted suit and polished calm, he is panicking. He is afraid. He’s scared of slipping, of saying the wrong thing, of exposing the rot he’s tried so hard to hide. His guilt dances at the edges of his silence, and it makes my skin crawl.A smirk curved on my lips—not out of joy, but justice.A silent declaration that I saw him for who he truly was.He stood up slowly.Of course, he would run.He always runs—just like now, pretending it’s one of his busy hours. Pretending he’s too important to stay."I just got a business deal. I think I need to go," he said, so casually. But I knew—he wasn’t leaving for work. He was fleeing reality. He’s escaping the truth.Th

ALFRED’S POVA smile escaped my lips as I read Beatrice’s message inviting me to dinner. Not because I was happy. No. There was something about that woman that never sat right with me. Since the day we crossed paths at the graveyard, I haven’t been able to shake off the suspicion. She carries herself like someone harmless—elegant, calm, sweet. But I’ve lived too long to be fooled by faces like that. Those are the ones that hide things best. What bothered me wasn’t the dinner. It was what she said that day. Hayes. She mentioned his name so casually, too casually. Like it slipped. But I don’t believe in slips like that. She was watching me when she said it, her eyes sharp behind that smile.I didn’t react, of course. Kept my face still, like she’d said nothing important. But inside, I froze.Hayes.That name holds too much. Too much past. Too many risks. Too many buried things that should never surface.Still, I let her talk. Let her think she was in control. I positioned myself

AMAYA’S POVMy breath was still uneven, as soon as my eyes landed on Beatrice who stood at the doorway like a queen assessing her court. Her sharp eyes darted between Logan and me, and the corner of her lips tugged upward in amusement. My heart skipped a beat as I swallowed hard under Logan. Slowly, Logan pulled away, sitting on the bed and I also sat on the bed, my lips pressed into a thin line as I frustratedly wait for Logan to say something but he never did. So, Beatrice heard everything I said about trying to impress her. Shit!I've put myself in trouble.“Do you really want to impress me, wifey?” Beatrice asked, voice laced with sarcasm. Confirming the fact that she heard everything I said. The word wifey hit harder than it should’ve. My heart thudded against my ribs, but instead of shrinking like I usually did, I opened my mouth before I could think of a better reply to this confusing woman. “I really do mother-in-law” I said, and then added with a faint smile.Silence.The

LOGAN'S POVI watched as Mr. Ronald, the lawyer, left my house. Not like I couldn’t stop him—I could. If I insisted on the divorce, he’d surely drop the documents. But deep down... I didn’t want to leave Amaya, I was pretending to be nonchalant about it but seriously, the divorce scare me too. The sound of the front door closing echoed through the silence. Amaya glanced at me, her eyes holding a silent question—What’s going on? I read it in her expression, but I didn’t answer. I didn’t move. She waited—longer than she should have. And then, like a wave retreating from the shore, she turned and quietly walked upstairs.I stood there, still, until I heard the last creak of the stairs. Then I turned to my mother, who was already seated on the couch like she owned the place, her fingers tapping briskly on my laptop.“What the heck is this? How did you know we were getting divorced? Because the last time I checked, I didn’t inform you,” I said, more observation than accusation.Beatrice r

AMAYA'S POVAs Logan pulled me into a hug, my mind went blank. What was he doing?Didn't he say he wanted to get rid of his feelings for me? And now, all of a sudden, he wants me? Why is he making things harder by pulling me even closer?I'm also trying to let go of the affection I have for him.But then, he said something that broke down my defenses and gave me an odd sense of peace."I'm sorry," he muttered, patting my back.I relaxed my muscles and hugged him back. The almighty Logan just apologized! That’s something he would never do for anyone—but he did it for me.Maybe I was wrong about everything. Maybe he's not so bad after all.As we hugged, I could feel his warmth, his heartbeat. Everything just felt surreal.I'm actually hugging Logan. We stayed like that for a while.During the silence, I wondered why Logan didn’t say anything more.
