Chapter 1: A Drunken Mistake and the Wrong Suite

The opulent presidential suite gleamed with luxury.

Discarded clothing lay scattered across the marble floors men’s designer wear tangled with delicate silk garments, black lace lingerie carelessly draped over the bedside table.

On the sprawling bed, two intertwined figures moved together in the darkness.

The crisp white Egyptian cotton sheets made the woman’s porcelain skin appear even more luminous.

“Please… be gentle with me…”

Emma Thompson’s voice was soft and breathless, trembling with emotion, yet the man only held her tighter, his powerful arms drawing her deeper into an embrace.

Heated breaths mingled, and beads of sweat glistened as they traced down his defined jawline.

“James, please… no more…”

Emma instinctively pushed against him, but he pulled her back with commanding intensity, his large hand securing her waist possessively, as if he wanted to merge her very soul with his own.

Lost in a haze of intoxication and desire, her vision blurred, unable to make out the features of the man consuming her.

A night of reckless abandon.

The Next Morning

Brilliant London sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, blindingly bright.

Emma stirred awake, her eyes fluttering open slowly.

Her head pounded mercilessly, the aftermath of excessive alcohol and her entire body ached as though she’d been trampled beneath a thousand horses.

A muscular male arm rested protectively around her waist.

She turned her head cautiously and froze.

The face beside hers was completely unfamiliar. Strikingly handsome, with sharp, aristocratic features that seemed sculpted by a master artist, a strong jawline, and penetrating eyes that held an air of nobility even in slumber.

Emma’s heart lurched violently.

What on earth happened?

Who is this man?

Where is James?

Fragmented memories rushed back like a tidal wave.

Yesterday was her birthday. James, her boyfriend, had reserved a private lounge at an upscale bar in Manchester. She’d been coerced into drinking glass after glass,James kept refilling her drink, encouraging his friends to egg her on until she could barely stand.

Later, feeling feverish and parched, someone had guided her upstairs. She’d assumed it was James, that he’d reserved a room for her to rest…

Emma’s face drained of all color.

Had she entered the wrong suite?

Her stomach churned with panic and humiliation. Trembling uncontrollably, she eased herself from the bed, desperately searching for her clothes so she could escape this nightmare.

But the moment her feet touched the floor, her legs buckled. She nearly collapsed.

The evidence of their passionate encounter was written across her skin crimson marks blooming across her neck and shoulders, tender and unmistakable.

She could still feel the lingering warmth, the ghost of sensation still burning through her body.

Emma refused to look back at the man on the bed and frantically searched the suite for her scattered garments.

Her dress hung haphazardly over an armchair, her bra lay on the nightstand with a torn button, and her underwear—God, her underwear—was partially buried beneath his discarded suit jacket.

Her face burned crimson as she retrieved it, dressed hastily, and bolted from the room.

Before closing the door, Emma couldn’t help but steal one final glance at the sleeping man.

She had to admit,he was devastatingly handsome. His features were chiseled with masculine perfection, his nose aristocratic and proud. He looked like he’d stepped directly out of a luxury magazine spread.

I actually slept with a man like him…

Emma bit her trembling lip and fled the suite with shaking legs.

The moment the door clicked shut behind her.

The man’s eyes snapped open with sudden clarity, sharp and alert, with no trace of sleep.

His dark gaze was piercing and calculating.

The remnants of their encounter still hung in the air—tangled sheets, strands of her blonde hair scattered across the pillow.

His eyes tracked the closed door for several seconds before slowly descending to his suit jacket draped hastily over the sofa, the very jacket that had moments ago been pressed against her most intimate clothing.

His expression was unreadable, his thoughts a complete mystery.

Emma’s mobile buzzed the instant she stepped outside the hotel.

Incoming Call: James

Her heart dropped into her stomach. Taking a deep breath, she answered.

“Emma?! Finally! Where were you last night?” James’s voice sounded frantic, yet oddly strained.

Guilt and shame flooded through her as she whispered, “James… where are you? We need to meet. There’s something I have to tell you.”

This secret couldn’t remain hidden.

She’d been intoxicated and confused, and if he wanted to end their relationship, she deserved it.

They arranged to meet at a café in the city centre.

Emma sat rigidly, gripping her coffee cup so tightly her knuckles blanched white, her heart racing with dread.

Twenty minutes later, James burst through the glass doors and hurried toward her, his face ashen and troubled.

Before she could speak, he blurted out:

“Emma, where did you go last night? I told you to wait in suite 4520! President Richardson spent the entire night in that room waiting for you, but you never showed up!”

Emma’s world tilted.

President Richardson? Suite 4520?

Her mind felt like it was fragmenting.

Then, in rapid succession, distorted memories surfaced.

At the bar yesterday, James had been unusually attentive, continuously pressing drinks into her hands while his friends cheered and encouraged her to drink more and more.

She’d been so drunk she could barely walk. As he’d guided her toward the elevators, she vaguely recalled him answering a phone call, his voice obsequious and desperate:

“Don’t worry, I’m bringing her up right now.”

Suddenly, everything crystallized into horrifying clarity.

Emma’s eyes widened in shock, her voice trembling as the full horror washed over her.

“James,” she breathed, her voice barely audible.

“What do you mean? Did you deliberately get me drunk last night just to send me to your boss’s bed?”

James’s face flushed with shame, and he couldn’t meet her eyes: “I’m sorry, Emma, I had no choice. Please understand.”

“Right now, I’m in a critical evaluation period for my promotion to Senior Manager. Whether I advance depends entirely on President Richardson’s recommendation.”

“He promised me that if you spent one night with him, the promotion would be guaranteed, and we could finally have the life we’ve always wanted.”

Emma felt ice crystallize in her veins. Staring at this man she’d planned to marry, she was consumed by revulsion and betrayal.

She’d seen President Richardson once before at a company gala when she’d accompanied James—a portly man in his fifties with a lecherous gaze that had made her deeply uncomfortable. His eyes had lingered on her in a way that made her skin crawl.

So James had orchestrated this entire scheme from the beginning.

“God,” Emma whispered, her entire body shaking, her eyes burning with unshed tears, her stomach churning violently.

This was the man she’d promised to marry.

After four years together, she was nothing but a bargaining chip to him.

James continued desperately, “It was just one night, Emma. Please. I promise I’ll be twice as good to you from now on. We can have everything.”

Emma couldn’t contain her rage any longer. She hurled her coffee cup directly at him: “Shut your mouth, you disgusting coward! You make me absolutely sick!”

Scalding brown liquid cascaded down James’s hair and face, leaving him drenched and disheveled.

The nearby waiter froze, uncertain whether to intervene.

James’s face turned a dangerous shade of crimson. He was about to unleash his fury when his pupils suddenly constricted. His gaze fixed on Emma’s partially unbuttoned collar, the obvious marks of passion scattered across her exposed skin.

His expression transformed into something sinister and dangerous, and he grabbed her wrist with brutal force:

“What are these marks on your neck? Did you go into the wrong room last night? Did you sleep with another man,”

Emma wrenched her wrist free with surprising strength.

CRACK.

A sharp, resounding slap echoed through the café.

Emma’s eyes were glacial, her voice dripping with contempt:

“James, listen very carefully. As of this moment, we are finished. Never let me see your face again.”

James’s face flushed a mottled purple with humiliation, and he reached out to grab her again.

SMACK.

Another slap, even more forceful than the first.

“Don’t you dare touch me!”

Emma stepped backward, her eyes blazing with righteous fury.

“That first slap was for the man you betrayed last night. This second one is for being foolish enough to waste four years on someone like you.”

“I’m warning you, James. What you did to me was criminal. If you ever contact me again, I’ll go straight to the police.”

James could only stand there, utterly humiliated, watching as Emma walked out of the café with her head held high and her dignity restored.

Emma turned on her heel and strode directly toward the exit, her mind still reeling.

She was so consumed by her thoughts that she didn’t notice the massive LED billboard across the street suddenly illuminating with breaking financial news.

BREAKING: ALEXANDER SINCLAIR ANNOUNCED AS NEW PRESIDENT OF SINCLAIR EMPIRE GROUP

The man on the screen wore an impeccably tailored suit, his expression coldly aristocratic, radiating an aura of untouchable nobility and power.

It was the exact same man who’d been sleeping beside her just hours ago.

Back in the Presidential Suite

The sound of running water ceased.

The man emerged from the bathroom wrapped in a charcoal grey bathrobe, his dark hair still damp, water droplets sliding down his angular jawline and sculpted chest, trailing across several passionate scratches and bite marks.

He appeared completely indifferent, retrieving his bespoke clothing from the sofa his assistant had prepared, dressing with deliberate, measured movements until he was once again the picture of refined sophistication.

He fastened his Rolex watch with precision and walked toward the expansive floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking London’s skyline.

Retrieving his mobile phone, he made a call.

His voice was arctic and commanding: “Marcus, I need you to investigate the woman who entered my suite last night. Find me everything.”

He paused, his dark eyes glittering with an emotion impossible to decipher.

“And Marcus? Be thorough. I want to know everything about her.”
