“I swear to you Jane, he really did. It's so confusing, you know. One minute he's cool, the next minute, he's a pain in the ass”
Jane stared at his picture again and bit her lower lip “he is very hot though” Angela rolled her eyes“That's really not the point”“Seriously Angie, what if he likes you? Rumor has it that he’s never been in a relationship”Angela burst into laughter“Yeah right. I bet he's so crazy about me, you know, that’s probably why he yells at me and embarrass me at any little chance he gets. By the way, I’m not surprised about him not ever having a relationship, who would date a guy like that? His manners are disgusting”“He took you to his HOUSE! Don’t you get it? This guy never brings anybody to his house except his family, not even his close friends”Angela shrugged “he probably felt bad about what he said and wanted to make up for it”“I bet you, you would end up falling for him. It’ll be like those workplace romance” Jane said as she was already imagining it in her head“You read way too much fiction. This is real life darling, nothing like that happens in real life”Jane shrugged and continued scrolling through his pictures until she came accross one of him and a beautiful blonde. She squinted her eyes a bit and then slapped her forehead as if something just dawned on her.“What’s that?” Angela asked from where she laid on the bed typing on her phone, she had to plan tomorrow for Tristan and email it to him before twelve a.m and it was already 11:50pm“It’s this picture of him with this supermodel, what’s her name? Oh yeah Ivy Rose, they’ve been friends since they were little. Their parents are….”“Jane, don’t you have something better to do than looking up my boss’s life and details online?”“It’s not my fault your boss happens to be famous”“I’ve been thinking, how can someone who owns a furniture and interior decorating company be so famous that he's on G****e?”Jane stared at Angela like she had gone insane “are you being serious right now?”Angela looked up from her phone “what?”“You do know he doesn't just own a furniture and interior decorating company right?”“What else does he own?” Angela asked in disbelief“Seriously? He's your boss and you don't know that his interior decorating company is the best in the whole of Canada? You don't know that he has the most successful real estate agency? And you don't know he owns half of his father's oil company? And I'm certain you don't know that he became known as the youngest billionaire at the age of eighteen”Angela's mouth hung open “are you kidding me? He's so young. I was wondering how come he owns a limo. I guess his success and fame at such a young age would explain his bloated ego”“He also owns this fancy store, what's the name? Yeah, grandiosa y hermosa”At the mention of that name, Angela froze and for the first time that night, she put her phone down and turned fully to look at Jane“Are you joking?”“I'm not”Angela trailed off as she remembered how she had said “you walk around arrogantly and act like you own the place” so he did own the place. Jane watched her expression change and asked what the matter was“Oh nothing” Angela shrugged it off halfheartedly. She hadn’t told Jane about the incident that happened at the store because she was too mortified. She only told her about the interview.“You know you’re a terrible liar right? So tell me, what’s wrong?” Angela sighed before replying“You know that day before the interview? I met Tristan at that store and that’s kinda how I landed in this situation”Jane adjusted her hair, she was fond of doing that whenever she wanted to listen to a gossip“How? Explain”And Angela did explain everything, when she was done, Jane had her palm over her mouth and she looked like she was ready to cry.“Oh Angie, I’m so sorry about that.” She proceeded to hug her “I’m so sorry. Are you okay?”“Yeah” Angela sniffed “yeah I’m fine. Thanks”____________Tristan sent her a bouquet of flowers, chocolates and a teddy bear the next day with a card written: get well soon. TristanAngela was genuinely surprised and happy at the same time. She received a text from him immediately ‘I hope you got my little present. Wishing you quick recovery’His behavior confused her but she sent him a thank you text**********Angela met Ivy on her fourth day of working with Tristan. She came in looking way too saucy and arrogant. Ivy was an incredible beauty, she was really slender and tall with waist length blonde hair, she walked with an over exaggerated catwalk and she kept her hands in the air like a spoilt brat, dragging her words at the end of every sentence. She came in and just walked past Angela’s desk like she didn’t see anyone. Angela had to get up and step in her way before she acknowledged her presence. She removed her dark sunglasses and looked Angela over from top to bottom“No autographs!” She yelled curtly“Um….excuse me? Who are you and why would I want your autograph?”Ivy scoffed and flipped her hair “yeah right. Just get out of MY way!” She pushed Angela to the side but Angela caught up with her again“Who the hell are you?” Ivy screamed in her face“You can’t just barge in here, do you have an appointment?”“Appointment? What appointment? I don’t need an appointment. For the last time, WHO ARE YOU?” She yelled“Excuse me miss but you’re being too loud, I’m gonna have to ask you to leave if you don’t lower your voice”“Lower my voice? This is Tristan’s office, how dare you tell me to lower my voice?”“I’m sorry ma’am but I’m Mr Perry’s assistant and he’s in a meeting right now so yeah, you have to lower your voice”Ivy looked Angela over again “so you’re the assistant? Well guess what? Today’s your last day of working here. As soon as I talk to Tristan, you’re getting FIRED!” She screamed but Angela remained unfazed“Oh really?” She asked sarcastically“You know what, I don’t like your attitude. I’m gonna call Tristan right now and he’s gonna tell me to fire you, you’ll see”Angela stared at her with a small smirk on her face as she watched her dial Tristan’s number. The phone on Angela’s desk began to ring“Oh, excuse me, I think Mr Perry has a call”She walked to her desk and picked Tristan’s phone then glanced at the caller Id“Oh” she said mockingly “you’re Ivy” then she hung up and turned to face an angry Ivy“Mr Perry’s in a meeting right now but he’ll get back to you once he’s done”Ivy looked livid “why the fuck are you with Tristan’s phone?!” She screamed“Miss, you’re really gonna have to lower your voice. You’re creating a scene. Why don’t you just calm down, take a sit and once Mr Perry is done, you can have him fire me”Ivy glared at her long and hard and then reluctantly took her seat, crossing her arms and fuming as she did so. And boy did she talk, she threatened and threatened Angela but Angela paid no attention to her“You'll see, I'll have you and your smart mouth kicked out of this office in disgrace. Do you think you can disrespect me and go scot-free? You thought wrong. Tristan would not accept this….”Angela's POVIvy blabbed on and on but I just shut her out and continued with the work ahead of me. What is wrong with these rich people? They're so snobby and rude. I let my mind wander back to two days ago when I came in to work.__________The look on Tristan’s face was unmoved as always when I came in two days ago. He was getting ready to leave his office when I came in “Miss Cameron, you didn't tell me you'll be resuming today,” he said frostily and I sighedI don't know why I always have high expectations for this man, he's just a roller coaster of emotions“I thought I'd surprise you”“I HATE surprises!” he snapped back“Noted sir. No more surprises again”“Are you sure?” he asked moving way too close and staring intently into my eyes. I coughed and backed away a bit“I don't understand sir”He nodded knowingly and said “never mind. It's good you're here. Today's gonna be a very busy day which means it'll be a perfect day to make you very miserable” he smirked and I rolled my eyes“Let's go,” he said and we left. Tristan did make my life very miserable that day. I was on my feet for five hours straight, I had to adjust his entire calendar because apparently some plans just popped up, I had to sort out lots of paperwork, receive lots of calls and make a lot of calls all under specific time frame and when I didn't keep to the time frame or made a mistake, Tristan yelled at me and made me start all over.By the end of the day, which was by past eleven pm, I was exhausted and hated Tristan the moreIf you made it this far, I'd like to say a big thank you. THREE MONTHS LATERShe stared at her reflection in the mirror, and a satisfied smile crept up her lips.Today was the most important day of her life. Her wedding day!She closed her eyes and let her mind drift to the day Tristan proposed to her two months ago.***************It was another cold day, as usual. It was a work day, but instead of going to work, Tristan had insisted they go to the same restaurant they went on her first day of working with him, and that they bring Zoe.She didn't understand why Tristan would choose to go to a restaurant instead of work and what was even more strange was that he insisted that he wanted to drive. He usually lets his driver do the driving, so she found it strange. After making sure that Zoe was seated and buckled in with the seatbelt, she sat in the passengers seat in front and Tristan got behind the wheel. As he adjusted the rear-view mirror, he winked at Zoe, who giggled and bounced happily in the back, the entire ride. All efforts to calm
“I'm telling you, Tristan, it's that bad.”She said to Tristan over Facetime. He had called her by eight pm New Zealand Standard Time and she was telling him how things were with Zoe.She couldn't bring herself to sleep on the mattress, so, after tucking Zoe in and making sure she was asleep, she went to the living room and lay on the couch instead. “And get this, turns out she's been living here using my name.”“Are you serious?” He asked, the shock on his face mirroring hers.“I am. Her neighbour called me Angela, and I found these fake documents and ID's inside the kitchen closet. It all had my name. None of it has her name. It's creepy.”“So, her daughter doesn't know her real name either?”“She doesn't. Apparently, she's been living a lie for seven years. As crazy as it is, it did give me an idea.” She replied with a faraway look in her eyes.“What idea?” Tristan asked with raised eyebrows. She smiled at him as she answered, “You know how she told me not to ever let her daught
The twenty-one-hour flight took it’s toll on her. Even though there had been two stops along the way, she was exhausted and sick by the time she got to New Zealand. She had also bought some things for Zoe as a way to earn her trust.Tristan called to check on her three times, and he sounded better. At least that's an improvement. She stopped a taxi and gave the driver the address Annabelle gave her. It was almost an hour drive from the airport and along the way, she kept wondering what she would tell Zoe. Where would she say her mother was? And how would she explain that she was her aunt? Because she was pretty sure Annabelle never mentioned her to Zoe.She was so lost in thought, she didn't realize they were already at her destination. The driver had to honk the car horn to snap her out of her thoughts.“We're here.” He announced after getting her attention.“Oh. Thank you.” She answered as she paid him. He helped her offload her luggage and then, he drove off.Angela stared at the
Tristan, Taylor and Angela arrived at the hospital to find a panic-stricken, worn out Tessa, pacing around. Her arm was bandaged too.“What happened? Where's mum?” Tristan asked, trying to rush into the emergency ward, but was stopped by Tessa.“Tristan, you can't go in there yet. Please, calm down.”“What exactly happened, Tessa?” Angela asked.“Yeah, how did she get shot.” Taylor added.“She went to confront Amy and we were on our way back when our car was ambushed and some men wearing masks surrounded us. They killed the driver and shot mum in the chest through the windscreen. They shot at me too, but it missed narrowly, and my arm got hit instead. They took off immediately and that's when I called the ambulance.”“How is she? Will she make it?” Tristan asked with wide-eyes. Tessa looked dismayed as she averted her gaze. Tristan was about to say something when Tessa's husband Connor came rushing in.“Honey,” he exclaimed as he rushed towards her. He hugged her, then he examined he
The car came to a halt in front of the Perry's grand mansion. Marie stepped out first, not waiting for the driver to open the door for them. Her eyes was red and her complexion was pale. She stormed out of the car and marched furiously inside the house, ignoring her children completely.“Mum, are you okay? What happened?” Tessa asked, trying to block her path. But, one glare from Marie, made her move. She rushed towards Tristan, who was being helped out of the car by Angela and Alan.“What's wrong with mum? She looks ready to murder someone.” She asked Tristan, who exchanged a glance with Angela.“What does that look mean? What's happening?” She asked in alarm.“Is father home?” Tristan asked.“Yeah, but that doesn't answer my question. Why is mum so furious?” She asked again, visibly frustrated that no one was answering her question.“Where is he?” Tristan asked again.“In his study. For God's sake, why isn't anyone answering the damn question? What happened to mum?” she yelled.Just
She sat in front of a tiny glass window in a cubicle, tapping her fingers nervously on the table and lost in thought. It's been three days since she was discharged from the hospital and she had been putting off the idea of seeing her sister in prison till she couldn't anymore. She had to gather up all her courage to come here, concluding that Annabelle could not hurt her again as she was already behind bars. Now, sitting here, all that courage seemed to have faltered and she wondered if it was too late to leave. Just then, she looked up and her whole body tensed as she saw a haggard-looking Annabelle in cuffs, being escorted by a police officer. The officer removed the cuffs from her wrists and she slumped to the chair. Angela inhaled and tried to calm her nerves and her shaking hands as she picked up the phone in front of her. Annabelle did the same and for a few seconds, neither of them said a word to each other. They just stared, with the phone in their ears and different though
She remained silent, just staring blankly, throat dry, heart pounding until Tristan felt the need to speak.“Angela, please say something.”She finally focused her gaze on him, as the blank stare left her face. “Where is she?” she asked.“Detained,” Tristan answered.“Angie, she wants to see you,” Jane said, looking worried. Angela shifted her gaze to Jane as seven of the coldest words she had ever said, fell out of her mouth.“I have nothing to say to her!”“She's still your sister…” Tristan was saying, but she cut him short.“Was my sister! Now, I have no sister. I remember everything she did to me, including hiring those two men to beat me up. I was pregnant! And she knew it. You know what they said to me? They told me that she said they should get rid of it by any means necessary. She's the reason all this is happening. She could have killed you too, Tristan. And you say she's my sister? No, if she were my sister, she would never have done all that to me.”She yelled, angry tears
Her head was hurting so she once again thought she was hallucinating. Even though she just heard his voice, she couldn't bring herself to believe he was looking at her and talking to her. He was in a coma, so how was he doing any of that?“Are you okay?” he asked, startling her.“Y—you. You're awake?”“Surprised?” he asked with a smile.“I am. The doctor said it would probably take at least a month before you woke up.” Her face twisted in horror as she said, “Oh no, don't tell me I was unconscious for a month!” Tristan chuckled as he responded, “No, you weren't unconscious for a month, you were unconscious for a week.”“A week?” Angela asked as her face paled in horror. “Why? What happened?”“According to the doctor, when you fell, you hit your head pretty bad and since you already had a brain injury, it triggered something. But do you feel okay now? Did you forget anything?”She raked her brain, trying to figure out if she forgot anything, but she couldn't think of anything she mig
