Jeremy had missed several therapy sessions. He felt they were useless. He had in fact given up hope of ever walking again.

That accident broke him. It changed the whole existence of his being. There was no such thing as unconditional love. If there was, Sarah would have stuck with him and supported him.

Sarah’s departure had left a wound deeper than the physical scars on his body. It was the kind of hurt that ate away at his soul.

He was hurt. He had no one. Only Maggie had stayed with him, yet, for some reason, he resented her.

He cared about her. He didn't want her to be homeless or anything of that sort, but he didn't appreciate her trying to act like a mother to him.

He had no one, and that was fine. He was fearless and feared. He had built a fortress around himself, a wall too high and too thick for anyone to climb. He commanded authority. He was alone now, but not lonely. He liked it like that.

That morning, he had an appointment with his orthopedic doctor, but it didn’t matter. It was just another waste of time. Still, he had to let his secretary know he wouldn’t be at the office for a while.

He picked up his phone and dialed his secretary’s number. “Elizabeth, I won't be coming to the office until later. Reschedule all my appointments for later, alright?”

“Okay, sir. I hope you're doing okay?” Elizabeth’s tone held genuine concern, but Jeremy brushed it off.

“I am. Thank you. If anything changes, I'll let you. And if there's anything important, do not hesitate to contact me,” Jeremy instructed.

“Actually sir, there's something…. someone actually has been calling to speak with you. She just walked into the building now,” Elizabeth reported.

“Who?” Jeremy questioned.

“Sir, it's one of our competitors, Big Margaret, of B Com Ventures. I'll go to her now and find out what she wants,” Elizabeth said.

Jeremy’s jaw tightened at the mention of Big Margaret. She wasn’t just a competitor; she was a predator.

“Alright. Do that. Keep updated ,” he said curtly.

“Yes, sir,” Elizabeth said before hanging up.

Jeremy sighed deeply, his thoughts already shifting to what Margaret might be scheming. But before he could dwell on it, Leah walked into the room.

Leah who had prepared to accompany Jeremy to the orthopedic was informed that plans had changed. She heard Jeremy speak about going to the office urgently like that was the most important thing.

“But sir, you have an appointment with the doctor. This is important too. Your health is very important,” she lectured.

“Don't school me, okay? Going to see the doctor is just formality. He'd still say the same thing he's been saying and I'll still be stuck in this chair for the rest of my life,” Jeremy said, enraged.

“But that isn't true. You will walk again.” Leah moved closer to Jeremy, looking him straight in the eyes. He was frustrated and had given up on hope. She had to show him that he could scale through if he believed.

“Don't you believe?” she asked him.

Jeremy felt weak. He felt like he'd been tamed. He stayed quiet and looked Leah in the eye. Their gazes were fixed on each. His resolve faltered for a moment. He looked away, unwilling to let her see the vulnerability in his eyes.

Before Leah could press on, Jeremy's phone rang again.

“Yes, Elizabeth,” he said as he picked up.

“Sir, there's a situation on ground. The media is here with Mr. Conrad Mayors. They claim that your marriage which was just announced out of the blues is false, and only a facade,” Elizabeth reported.

Jeremy’s grip on the phone tightened. Conrad Mayors. The name alone was enough to make his blood boil. Jeremy recalled the message he had received the previous night. Was it Conrad who masterminded the whole thing? Conrad used to be Jeremy's best buddy. Suddenly, he was out to get him. He took his woman, he was obviously teaming with the oppositions to drag Jeremy's company down. He was evil.

“I'll be right there. You just manage the situation how best you can,” Jeremy instructed.

He explained to Leah that he had to attend to something important at the office. He asked her to reschedule the appointment with the doctor.

Leah hesitated for a moment before speaking. “Let me come with you,” Leah offered.

Jeremy nodded in agreement.

As soon as they parked in the parking lot, the media team all rushed towards them, as though they were waiting to devour them. Cameras flashed, microphones were shoved in their faces, and questions were hurled at them like missiles. Jeremy took Leah's hand and apologized for dragging her into it all. She smiled and said it was okay.

The media shot questions at them and Leah answered most of the questions, explaining that she wanted a low-key wedding because she valued privacy, and being with the love of her life was what mattered most, not a grand wedding, even though he was incredibly wealthy.

Jeremy was amazed. She was selling it well. Soon, he managed to dismiss the media and they entered the office building.

When they entered, Big Margaret and Conrad walked towards them.

Big Margaret’s lips curled into a sly smile as her gaze settled on Leah. “Well, well,” she said, her voice dripping with mockery. “Leah, Leah. So you’re Mrs. Harper now?”

Leah held Jeremy's hand firm, trying to be strong and not let her fear show. “Hello, Aunt Margaret,” Leah said steadily.

Jeremy seemed confused. He raised his head and gave Leah a puzzled look.

“Aunt?” He repeated.

Leah didn’t answer. Instead, she kept her eyes locked on Margaret.

Margaret’s smile grew wider. “Oh, this is going to be interesting,” she said, her tone laced with menace.

Jeremy’s mind raced. What was going on? How was Leah connected to Margaret?

Before he could ask, Conrad stepped forward, a smug grin on his face. “Jeremy,” he said. “Long time no see.”

Jeremy clenched his fists. “What are you playing at, Conrad?”

“Oh, you’ll find out soon enough,” Conrad replied, his grin widening.

Leah sat in the middle of the room, surrounded by balloons, gifts, and laughter. Everyone was present. Her heart was full. She looked around, smiling at every familiar face.Jeremy walked over to her with a drink. "For the queen of the day. Juice, of course."Leah took the glass and grinned. "You're spoiling me.""You deserve more. For carrying not one, but two tiny versions of us."Noah came closer with a plate of puff-puffs. "And for throwing the best baby shower ever.""It was Maggie and Cassandra's idea," Leah said.Maggie raised her hand. "Guilty as charged. We couldn't let you go through this pregnancy without a proper celebration."Cassandra nodded. "We needed something to lift everyone. After all the chaos, this joy is what we all needed."Benita walked up and handed Leah a gift bag. "This is from me and Ivan."Leah smiled at both of them. "You two look good together."Ivan winked. "I guess we are good together."Keira chimed in, arms crossed. "Oh, please. They've been stuck t

  • The Billionaire's Caregiver    Double Blessings and an Unexpected Guest

The morning sun pushed its light gently through the curtains. It was a quiet, lazy morning, and the birds outside chirped in peace. Leah lay in bed, her back to Jeremy, one hand resting on her slightly rounded belly. She didn’t want to move. Her body felt weak, heavy, and sleepy.Jeremy stirred beside her. He turned and kissed her bare shoulder. “Baby, we need to get ready,” he said softly.Leah groaned. “I don’t feel like going. Can’t we skip today?”Jeremy sat up slowly and smiled at her. “We can’t skip prenatal appointments, Leah. You and our baby need to be checked.”Still, Leah didn’t move.Jeremy got out of bed and gently pulled the blanket off her. “Alright, I’ll help you.”He walked to her side of the bed, slid one hand under her back and the other under her legs, then lifted her up gently like she was made of feathers. Leah held onto his neck, resting her head against his chest.“You’re always doing this,” she murmured sleepily.Jeremy smiled. “I’ll always do it, as long as

“So you and Benita are a thing now?” Keira asked from the doorway, her tone neutral, but her eyes slightly narrowed in curiosity as she leaned against the frame. She watched Ivan zip his travel bag slowly, taking his time as though contemplating her question.Ivan smiled, that crooked, charming smile that used to get him out of trouble even as a boy. “Yeah,” he said simply, shrugging like it was no big deal.Keira gave a soft snort, stepping into the room. “Happy for you. But is that why you're leaving?”Ivan turned to her, raising a brow. “Hey, you've given me nothing but a headache since I got here. Always touching my stuff without permission. You even told me straight up I shouldn't have come back.” He zipped the bag shut and turned to face her fully. “Now that all the danger we feared has been averted, and Leah and Jeremy are officially married and safe, I figured it was time to go back.”“I don’t give headaches, please,” Keira huffed, folding her arms. “And fine, you can go. • The Billionaire's Caregiver    A New Love Story

The sun had begun to dip beneath the horizon, casting a golden hue over the grand wedding venue. Strings of lights twinkled from tree branches, lanterns glowed on white-draped tables, and laughter echoed through the open-air space like music. It was a day Leah had never thought would come—at least not so perfectly. She’d imagined something smaller, quieter, safe from drama and threats. But as she stood beside Jeremy in her flowing ivory gown, his hand resting protectively on the small of her back, she knew that loud and bright was exactly what they needed. After all the darkness, they deserved this joy.“Congratulations!” A voice rang out. Then another. And another.“Leah, you look stunning.”“Jeremy, you lucky man!”“May your union be blessed!”The words came from every direction—family, friends, colleagues, even business partners. Everyone was smiling. Everyone was happy. Glasses clinked, music played, and plates were full. Love was in the air, and Leah felt it with every heartbeat.

  • The Billionaire's Caregiver    Shadows Behind, Light Ahead.

The room was quiet again. After the police took Donald's lifeless body away, the air felt lighter—though not entirely free. Something dark and heavy had left, but a few threads of that weight still clung to the silence.Jeremy remained still, his hand on the door, watching the officers disappear down the corridor. Sarah stood by the wall, her body pressed against it like she needed its support to stay upright. Her face looked tired, stained with the tracks of old tears and the relief of new ones. In her arms, little Jalen rested, his small hands fisted tightly as if he sensed the chaos that had just passed.“Thank you,” she finally said, her voice barely above a whisper.Jeremy turned to her. “For what?”“For trusting me. For helping me. For risking your peace to protect a boy you didn’t even know was real.”Jeremy walked toward her and looked down at the child. His expression softened. “I didn’t do it for you. I did it for him.”Sarah smiled sadly, but there was a glow behind her sad

  • The Billionaire's Caregiver    Reckoning

“Hi, Sarah,” Jeremy said, his voice low but clear. His heart beat fast in his chest, but his face showed nothing.Jeremy entered the room with heavy steps. The air was thick, like something dangerous had passed through already. The silence around him wasn’t peaceful. It was quiet in a tense way, like a storm waiting behind a closed door. He had gotten Sarah’s message and, against his better judgment, decided to meet her. The last time he helped her, she betrayed him. She spiked his drink, claimed he had slept with her, and later pretended to be pregnant. The lie almost ruined his life and almost cost him Leah. That kind of mistake shouldn’t have a second chance.Still, here he was.Sarah stood up when she saw him. Her eyes were red, her cheeks wet. But Jeremy didn’t trust tears anymore—not from her. He stayed at the door.“Jeremy,” she said and smiled a sad smile. “Thank you for coming.”Jeremy said nothing about the greeting. He only got straight to the matter.“Your son…” he began
