As we pulled up to the mansion, Kyle didn't make any move to exit the car.

"Aren't you coming?" I asked, curiosity getting the better of me.

"I have to get somewhere else," Kyle replied, his eyes fixed on the steering wheel

I unfastened my seatbelt and stepped out into the crisp air.

"Okay, bye," I said through the window.

Kyle nodded curtly, his expression unreadable.

With a faint hum, he drove off

The mansion's grand entrance beckoned.

Inside, I retreated to my room.

Eager to reconnect with Vivian, I unlocked my new phone.

Scrolling through contacts, I dialed her number.

But it was switched off.

I sighed, frustration simmering.

Visiting her seemed the next best option.

As I headed to the bathroom to freshen up, my mind wandered then the phone's loud ringtone startled me.

DK's name flashed on the screen.

I picked up.

"Hey," I answered.

  • The Billionaire’s Contracted Bride   A Moment of Sincerity

The ride back home was silence, a heavy stillness that filled the car. I didn't wanna ask him anything, didn't wanna pry into the thoughts that seemed to be consuming him. Whatever he was up to, I just hoped it wouldn't affect him or anyone. When we got to the mansion, I unbuckled the seatbelt and turned to look at him, but he was already looking at me."Thanks for today," I said, trying to break the silence, but he only smiled. It was a small smile , the kind that hinted at unspoken words."I'm sorry, but I won't be escorting you inside," he said and I nodded"No need, it's okay," I saidAs I was about to unlock the car door so I could get out, he suddenly reached out and wrapped his hand around mine and before I could react, he pulled me into a hug. It was a sudden, unexpected movement, and I felt a rush of surprise and confusion.I tried to break off from the hug, but he only tightened his hold, his arms wrapping around me lik

  • The Billionaire’s Contracted Bride   The Weight of Choice

As his lips touched mine, anger burst inside me. I pushed him hard, my hands flat against his chest."What's wrong with you?" I snappedHe stumbled back, looking surprised himself then ran his fingers through his hair and headed upstairs.I felt gross, like he had left a bad taste on my lips. I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand.DK stood there, his face blank. I couldn't read him. Was he shocked or just watching? I didn't know."Can we still go?" I askedHe glanced up the stairs where Kyle had stormed off, then back at me. His expression was hard to read, but his nod was clear.———-I sat beside DK in the car, the silence between us thick. He stared straight ahead, his eyes fixed on the road, but his expression was far-off. Like he was a million miles away. I looked at him, trying to get a read on what was going on in his head, but nothing."So, where are we going?" I asked, brea

On sighting me, Lucas rushed towards me, his worried expression was unmistakable."Are you okay?" he asked, his eyes scanning my body as if searching for any signs of harm. I took a step back, and he quickly composed himself. "Err, sorry about that," he muttered, his voice trailing off."I was just..." he paused, seeming to struggle for words. "Well, I'm glad you're okay," he said finally, his gaze drifting towards the police station before returning to me."What are you doing here?" he asked, his tone casual, but I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off about him. I studied his face, trying to pinpoint what was bothering me, but he just looked concerned. Still, my instincts told me to be cautious.I was convinced Lucas knew something about the Prescott family, and now his presence at the police station only added to my suspicions. The silence between us grew awkward, and despite my efforts to break it, the words wouldn't come.

  • The Billionaire’s Contracted Bride   The Accident

I went downstairs with the documents in my hand, but I didn't see Kyle anywhere. I checked his room and knocked on the door, but there was no response.I then went to the pool area, but he wasn't there either. I was getting frustrated and was about to head back upstairs when I saw him sitting on the couch.I walked towards him, my anger and frustration building up with each step. I threw the document at him, the papers fluttering through the air. "What is this nonsense?" I yelled, my voice echoing through the room.He looked up at me, his eyes locking onto mine. "The price for you to pay," he replied,I was taken aback by his response. I looked at the document and my eyes widened in shock."This is...this is absurd," I said, my voice rising. "A fine of $1 million???"He leaned back in his chair, a small smile playing on his lips. "Actually, I could've extended it to 5 because that's actually little," he said, his word

As I slowly opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was a nurse's steady hands adjusting the drip, her fingers moving with a practiced ease that belied the complexity of the task.I blinked, trying to clear the haze from my mind, and my gaze drifted around the room. That's when I saw her…..Freya, standing a few feet awayI rubbed my eyes, wondering if the pain medication was playing tricks on me.What was Freya doing here? I must be dreaming. But as I winced in pain, Freya's voice cut through the fog, "Ma'am!" she yelled, rushing towards me with a look of concern on her face.I tried to process how she had ended up here, but my mind was a jumble of fragmented memories … Lucas and Kyle fighting, fists flying, and then...and then I remembered the searing pain and the feeling of something spreading down my abdomen.Freya's face was inches from mine, her eyes scanning my face with both worry and relief&n

I stood there, my mind reeling with shock and confusion."How is that even possible?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. "I heard Keith is dead and... " I trailed off, unable to process the revelation. But the man cut me short, his words slicing through the air like a knife. "Well, he's not," he said, his expression somber.Keith, the man who had been presumed dead, was actually alive. And Mrs. Prescott knew about it.I looked at the man, my eyes searching for answers. "Does Mrs. Prescott know about this?" I asked, my voice firm. The man nodded, his expression grave. "Yes," he said.I couldn't believe it. How could Mrs. Prescott do this to her own family? Two cousins, Harry and Kyle, literally hated each other, and one of them, Harry, was still reeling from the loss of his mother, who was actually alive. And to make matters worse, Kyle was blamed for killing his brother, Keith, who was actually alive and well.I felt a wa
