LOGINFive years
Leah’s POV Five years. That’s how long it took to kill Leah Quinn and become Raven Vale. Five years of surgeries, speech lessons, sleepless nights, and therapy sessions that never worked. Five years of learning how to live again. And it was all thanks to Aiden who helped me. But that was a story for another day. The elevator dinged on the 34th floor and the door opened, Cassian's office. The secretary stood to greet me. “Good day ma'am , do you have an appointment?” I nodded. “ I am Raven Vale. His new partner. He scheduled a meeting with me by 10:am.” She pointed toward the door at the end of the hallway. “He’s expecting you.” I smiled as I walked towards his office. I knocked once, then twice. No answer. Then finally, a deep voice. “Come in.” I opened the door and stepped in. He looked up. Our eyes met. And for one fleeting second, I forgot the script. Forgot every rehearsed line, every ounce of calmness I had practiced. He looked different. “Mr. Wolfe,” I muttered, barely able to compose myself. “I apologize for being late.” He nodded slowly, standing. “You’re Raven Vale?” “That’s what the paperwork says.” We shook hands. I held his hand just a bit longer than necessary. I pulled out the chair myself, careful not to let my fingers tremble, and sat down. I crossed my legs slowly, steadying my breath. My voice wavered, just slightly. “I… I’ve reviewed your projections,” I said, keeping my gaze on the documents instead of his eyes. “They’re strong. Just a few minor adjustments—like delaying the launch date.” He didn’t respond at first, rather he just stared at me. My fingers tightened around the folder in my lap. “Extra prep time would help tighten some loose ends.” He leaned back in his chair, still looking at me intently, not in the way men look at women. No— “Do I look familiar?” I asked, so calmly as if it was just a harmless question. “ No, why did you ask?” “ Because you are staring.” “Oh, sorry” he muttered as he pretended to flip through the papers, nervously. I looked at his calendar, Feb 14th. “Does today mean anything to you?” He blinked. “What?” “Does it ring a bell?” I asked as I looked at him intently, trying to see if he remembered. “No,” he said, voice low. “It doesn't ring a bell, why do you ask?” I gave a half-smile. “Today is valentine's day and also the day I lost something dear.” “ Oh “ he nodded as he adjusted his tie with trembling hands. “Can we please talk about the project?” “Of course,” I said, pretending not to notice how unsettled he looked. “ So you can just look through the document and sign it.” He nodded. “So I take it you agree to the terms,” I said, keeping my voice steady, even though my heart was beating so fast. He reached for the documents. “I’ll have my legal team review it again, but yes. The terms are fair.” “Good,” I said, relaxing slightly in my seat. I reached for the glass of water beside me, not the wine. But as I took a sip. He was studying me again. “Still staring?” I asked, barely gulping the water down. He looked away quickly. “You voice reminds me of someone.” I leaned back in my seat. “Let me guess. Someone you used to know?” “ My late wife, you sound just like her.” I froze as I looked at him, the way he said it, left me speechless . I quickly stood up, my composure had a time limit. “ I will have my assistant schedule something.” I turned to leave in a haste but in the process, I slipped and the strap of my jacket slipped from my shoulder. He stood up to help me but his eyes landed on the scar. That scar. The tiny, heart-shaped one near my collarbone — from his signet ring, the night we made love for the first time. The night he said, “You’ll always be mine.” My hand moved instinctively, trembling as I pulled the strap back up. “Are you okay?” I didn’t answer. Didn’t look back. Just reached for the door. “Ms. Vale, wait—” I stopped, slowly turning to face him. “Yes, Mr. Wolfe?” He stared at me like he was seeing a ghost. “The scar…How did you get the scar?” He asked, looking so confused. " From an accident." I muttered as I walked out. The second I stepped out of that office, my breath gave out. I quickly headed to the restroom, not minding the receptionist stare as I slammed the door. My hands were shaking. My heart beating. My eyes welled up with tears. This was harder than I thought. I took a long breath, stared at myself in the mirror. Raven Vale stared back. But behind the new name, the new face... i was still Leah Quinn. Then my phone buzzed. Text from Aiden: Liam will be landing in 30 minutes. I looked at the text and I felt a bit relief, maybe seeing Liam could help my sanity. I wiped my tears, fixed my makeup, and walked out. In less than twenty minutes, I arrived at the airport, I stepped out and waited by the arrivals section, sunglasses on . I strained my neck, scanning the crowd. For my son. Then I saw Cassian. Why was he here? I froze, and the only thing I could think about was hiding because seeing him twice in one day is something I didn't prepare for. I hid behind a pillar. He was facing the terminal, probably waiting for someone. Then I saw Liam, I waved at him but he was running towards another direction. “Daddy!” Liam shouted, running towards Cassain My heart exploded. No. No, no— I turned slowly. My son. My beautiful, sweet, curious little boy—racing across the airport with his arms wide, straight toward Cassian. I froze.Aiden’s POVI opened the car door for her to enter but she was too busy looking around.“Oh my, it feels good to be out,” Rosy said, still looking around. “Ten years in that dump, breathing nothing but the stench of cheap bleach and dump and now—” She glanced around, inhaling again. “Now I can almost remember what power tastes like.”I held the door open a little wider. “Glad you’re enjoying the breeze.”She cut her eyes to me and gave me a face that meant business.“ Enough of the chit chat, how are the plans going?”“Smoothly,” I said. She looked at me and m, she laughed hysterically. The. She moved closer.“I didn’t spend ten years locked away,” she said slowly, “and I certainly didn’t waste twelve years prepping you up, Aiden, just to hear you mumble that things are going ‘smoothly.’” She said, mimicking the way I said smoothly. “Do you need me to remind you of who you were when I found you? Hmm?”I clenched my jaw. “No.”“I think you do.” She held my arm, her nails digging to my
Cassian's POV "No..." I whispered, as I stared at the flat-screen TV in my office. Leah didn’t just do that. She played it perfectly. Too perfectly. it wasn’t about her calling me a pedofile—God knows I probably deserve worse. But it was about the girl. Even though her face was partially blurred, even though she wore heavy makeup. Anyone who knew her would recognize that face. That she was Rosy’s daughter. And that for sure isn't good. I grabbed my phone and searched through the internet. I was trending or rather she was trending. #RosysDaughter. The comments were piling up. Speculations. Wild theories. But one post stood out. It had her full name. Her school. A recent photo. How on earth did Leah get her pics. My phone buzzed every second, from calls, to meessages. I ignored them all. I needed to control the damage first. I opened my laptop and drafted a quick press statement. "In light of the recent press statements made by Leah, I would like to clear the public t
Leah's POV I took a deep breath as I let them apply the finishing touch of my makeup. Then I heard a knock from the door and someone entered. It was Cassain. “ I just wanted to check up on you.” He said while closing the door I looked at him, trying to resist the urge of slapping him because I had a lot of pent up anger and things to say to him. “ Can you please excuse us?” I said to my makeup artist and everyone . They packed up and left my office, more like the storage room because clearly Vivienne made sure there was no office I could occupy so I had to stick to this. “ I am sorry, “ he said immediately as they left. I wanted to ask if he ever loved me but scratch that, I wanted to hit the bull by the horn. So I took the sharp hair pin on the table and walked to him. I moved closer to him, inches apart as I looked squarely in his eyes. And I pointed the sharp edge of the hairpin to my neck. “ Let me make it easy for you.” I said as I took his hand and placed i
Aiden’s POV“Damn it,” I muttered under my breath. The plan didn’t go how I wanted.Still, I wasn’t worried. Twenty years of my life had already gone into this, what were a few more months? Time wasn’t my enemy. The only thing standing in my way now was Leah. She wasn’t supposed to survive the warehouse fire.I had made sure everything was ready. The doors, the barrels, the timer. Everything. It would’ve been over. One clean sweep and I would finally have the Wolfe company all to myself. But then, Cassian just had to show up. He always had a way of messing things up. Maybe there was a way to use that to my advantage. Maybe I could turn this around.I knelt down and placed the single lily on my mother’s tombstone. “I’ll get the revenge you deserve,” I said , meaning every single word.“I promise, everyone who had a hand in your death will pay.” I continued fighting back the tears as I couldn't think of the painful memories ---I was ten when she died.My mom was strong. The kind of w
Leah's POVI banged the door hard—so hard I thought the door would break down. "Anyone here! Can someone please help me?" I shouted through the smoke. But there was no response. The smoke was suffocating. My eyes were watering. I coughed so hard I nearly dropped to my knees.Where the hell was my phone? Why didn’t I take it?I staggered backwards, hitting a crate. Everywhere was covered with smoke, I barely could see anything.I tried again. I screamed louder, my fust banging the door like my life depended on itBut still nothing.Damn it I shouldn't have come here, Aiden insisted I inspect the warehouse just in case Cassian or his mom tries to pull a fast one and since it was the workers lunchtime, it was just a perfect opportunity to inspect. Everyone who worked around here would be out.And now, I was choking to death trying to be smart. The heat was unbearable. I turned, covering my mouth with my sleeve, blinking through the smoke in the room , trying to search for anything tha
Cassian's POVThe boardroom was quiet. Old men in designer suits and women who believed their age could be hidden behind powdered faces all sat watching me like I was a boy who knew nothing about managing a company.“I have everything under control,” I said, not because I needed their assurance but just for formalities.Mrs. Sherry leaned forward in a frown. “ We don't need you to have everything under control, we need you to be in control and that would only be possible if your marriage to Talia happens.”There it was again back to Talia.I didn’t respond.Instead, I looked down at my wristwatch, watching time go because in about 3... 2... 1…Right on cue, the doors to the boardroom opened.Leah—no, Raven—walked in.Everyone turned and looked at her in shock , wondering who she was and why she was here. She didn't mind as she walked elegantly ignoring everyone.Vivienne stood up from her seat. “What are you doing here?” she snapped. “This meeting is for board members only. If you do
