“Your work here is done. I wanted a child, so you gave me one. You can die for all I care. I have gotten what I wanted.” He said and Anna felt the air leave her lungs.
“W... what?” She forced the words out of her throat. Her chest felt like it was about to rip into pieces. She must have heard wrong. Even Shayne, who already knew how much of an asshole he was, couldn’t believe that he would actually say those words to Anna’s face. He was truly an asshole Anna shook her head and grabbed his arm, her lips shivering. “Y…you are just joking, right? This is one of your jokes, isn’t it?” Her tone was unstable and her voice broke. Jacob only looked at her with disgust before latching his hands around her tiny ones and pushing her so hard that if it wasn’t for her quick-witted sister, she would have fallen face flat on the floor. “You are causing a scene here, Anastasia Walker. I'd advise you to leave… go far away and never come back. And, don’t even try going to the media or police. No one will believe you. That child is mine. Thank you for giving me exactly what I wanted.” He spat coldly, his eyes holding no emotion. “No!” Anna screamed, feeling her heart ripping into pieces. “How can you do this to me?” She let out another terrifying scream, her eyes red with pain and anger. “I did everything you asked me too, because I loved you! You said you loved me! How could you use me and then discard me like I am nothing but garbage? How?” Her strength was failing her, and it was evident in her falling tone. Jacob let out another heart-wrenching chuckle and looked at her in a condescending manner. “Love?” He laughed again, mocking her with his eyes. “ Look at yourself, Anna. Do you think someone like you deserves to be loved by someone like me?” He said and Shayne let out a loud scream, trying to stop him from talking, as she couldn’t leave her sister and go to him. “Leave, Anna…the both of you. I’m being nice and giving you time. If my parents find you here, they won’t be as nice.” He said and turned to leave. “What about her child? She suffered for nine months, Jacob. All you gave her was money. You have no idea how much she wanted your attention during those nine months. You cannot take those nine months away now that the child is here. If you do not give us that child, we will go to every TV station and tell everyone who cares to hear what you have done. We will ruin your image!” Shayne threatened, her eyes filled with determination. Jacob gritted his teeth and clenched his fists before turning to look at her.. “What are you going to say, huh? That she got pregnant and had her child stolen from her? Do you think anyone is going to believe you? Think about it. You have no proof and, according to the doctors, you didn’t give birth. You’d only be a mad woman if you go around saying shit like that.” He said and both their eyes widened, realizing that he had bribed the hospital to keep their mouths shut about her delivery. During the course of her pregnancy, he made her stay indoors so that no one could see her. Even her friends had to be lied to. In his words ‘ it would taint my reputation if anyone were to find out, so we should wait until you give birth before telling them. We can have the wedding immediately so no one would be able to talk.’ She was foolish enough to believe him. Jacob drove away without looking back, leaving the sisters on the floor, covered in their own tears.. “Come on, Anna. Let’s get out of here.” Shayne said, and helped her sister get into a cab. Her loud wails pierced into Shayne’s soul and all she wanted to do was kill Jacob Wades and his family. After what felt like forever, the cab finally slowed down in front of their house. “What the hell is going on here?” Shayne mumbled before giving the driver his money, unlocking the car door and running out. Outside their apartment were furniture, luggage containing their clothes and even kitchen appliances. Pretty much everything they had inside was now outside. Thankfully, two men came out of the house, throwing more things on the floor. “What do you think you’re doing? How dare you throw our things outside?” Shayne charged. All Anna could do was sit on the pavement and lean her head against the wall. “Miss Anastasia Wellington?” The man said to Shayne and, with creased brows, she answered. “That’s my sister. What is going on? How did you even get in here?” She asked once again, feeling her patience running out. “Mr Jacob has instructed us to empty the house and let you know that you will no longer be staying here.” The man said and Anna let out another pained sigh, this time around, her chest heaved as she found it hard to breathe. She felt as though she would die at any minute with everything that was happening. With everything Jacob had done today, was he going to leave her homeless? She had just given birth for Christ's sake. Can’t she even rest for a day? It was clear that he didn't love her but, didn't he have a little sympathy for the woman that gave birth to his son? “What? That spawn of the devil!” Shayne hissed, ruffling her hair. “Look here. We don’t have anywhere to go, and it will be hard to find a new place today. It is already late. Please, let us just stay here for the night. My sister is exhausted and needs to rest. Please.” She rubbed her hands together, pleading with them. “We are only following orders, Miss. We’re sorry, but there is nothing we can do.” They said and locked the house before driving off. Anna took her bag and dipped her hand in it, searching for her phone as she struggled to breathe. She dialed Jacob’s number, but it didn’t even ring. He had blocked her. After trying two more times, she finally realized that he had truly blocked her. “Oh God!” Fresh tears began to flow from her eyes. “Come, Anna. We can stay at a hotel tonight and leave for my friend’s place in Australia tomorrow morning. We should be able to travel with the money we have.” Shayne said, accepting their fate. “We’re leaving? What about my son?” Anna said in a voice so tiny, it broke Shane’s heart. “We can’t do anything right now, Anna. You heard Jacob. We’re penniless and he is powerful. We spent all our money paying off debts Dad incurred, so we only have enough to travel and hope that Dylan helps us. I’ll call him.” Shayne said and pulled out her phone. She was about to place a call to Dylan when his own call came in. Without even exchanging pleasantries, he began talking. “Shannie, didn’t you say your sister was engaged to Jacob Wades? Why is he getting married to another woman? It’s all over the news.” He said and Shayne immediately hung up and ran to look it up. Her phone almost slipped out of her hand as she read the headlines. Jacob Wades is set to wed his fiancée, Emma Ferguson, in two weeks as she gives birth to the heir of the Wades Empire after a cryptic pregnancy. “Jesus Christ, Anna. We have to leave Canada…now.”“What is this bitch doing here?” Garcia yelled, her eyes widened in horror as she stared at Anna. She hated that Anna could walk in and out of the mansion as she pleased especially since she was the one who talked Jacob into throwing her out a year ago.Anna didn’t flinch. Her eyes remained calm and fixed on Garcia, locking her gaze with a sharp glare. Keeping her voice calm, Anna spoke.“I’m here to see my son.” She kept her head high and her voice steady.Garcia’s mouth parted, stunned by her boldness. Anna had never been so brazen before, at least not when she was still her son’s girlfriend so, she was shocked to hear her speak in that manner. She continued to stare at Anna, unable to process the audacity of her words. There was not a hint of stuttering, hesitation, or fear.It wasn’t something she expected from a woman she once drove away successfully.“How dare you?” The frown on her face deepened to a scowl as she closed their gap ams pointed her fingers at Anna.“You are not we
Emma walked out of William’s study with a victorious smirk on her lips. Humming her favorite song, she took slow steps to her room, gliding her hands across the walls. “In a few days, you’ll be mine.” She grinned softly… **** Anna stood by the door window of her room, her fingers trailing along the rim of her coffee cup. She couldn’t help but think about documents she had received from Emma but what made her uneasy was the part about lying to Tristan. But then again, he might already know about everything but decided to keep it away from her. Either way, she was not going to let him see those pictures or the letter from William… “Anna…” The overly familiar voice pulled her out of her daze. “Tristian.” She acknowledged with a nod as she turned around to meet his ever-kind eyes. “Come.” He held out his hand and waited until she got to him before leading her to the bed. “I was thinking and…it’s time to expose the truth about Rowan and finally take him from the Wades.” He started a
“Lilian,” Emma said and William froze. He looked up at her with shock in his eyes, his hard wall shattering at the mention of that name. Emma smirked, enjoying the look on his face. “Does Garcia know about her or do I have to tell her myself?” William’s jaw tightened and he clenched his fists, full of fury. He didn’t expect her to have figured it out already. “What the fuck are you talking about?” He asked in a low tone, his eyes holding danger. Emma's brows lifted slightly and her smirk widened. “Playing dumb now, are we?” She asked and watched as William’s tension grew. “Okay.” She nodded and took a few steps backward. “I’ll make this easier for you.” She folded her arms and looked at him straight in the eye. “Does anyone in this family know that you have a hidden son with a woman named Lilian?” She asked again. “Fuck you, Emma,” William growled, his hands trembling. That was a secret he had buried long ago and hoped it remained buried but, here she was trying to ruin things
Emma arrived at the Wade Mansion an hour later. The moment she stepped out of her car and walked up to the doors of the house, she sensed that there was trouble. Rather than being scared and running off, Emma straightened her shoulder and walked into the house with her head up. “Lady Emma!” One of the maids rushed to her immediately after she stepped into the house. The maid looked like she had just seen a ghost. Her breathing was ragged her eyes were filled with terror. “Is there a problem?” Emma asked, wondering what was making her so frightened. “My apologies, my lady but, it’s Mr. Wade.” She said and Emma immediately knew she was referring to William. The maids referred to him as Mr. Wade and the other Wades as Sirs or young Sirs. “What about him?” She asked in a bored tone. “He has been looking for you everywhere for a while now. He is…. He is angry. He thinks you went into his study and stole some things. He has been raging since you disappeared.” The maid said, struggling
“Come, let’s go to my room. We should be careful, even in my house.” Anna said and led Emma to a guest room in the house.Even though she was now working with Emma to bring down the Wades, she wasn’t going to trust her fully as there was still a chance Emma might want to betray her. The only people Anna could fully trust were her sister and Tristan. She still had to be careful with others even though they seemed nice.“There’s a lot in here, Anna. William has more secrets than we thought.” Emma said as she placed the bag on the bed once they were inside the cozy room.“Show me.” Anna requested eagerly and Emma nodded as she started pulling out the items she had stolen from William’s secret room.“I didn’t even have enough time to go through them because of how many they are.” Emma shook her head and handed Anna a stack of files she had compiled.“I have gone through these though….they are terrible. I cannot believe he is respected in this country. Once this leaks, he will definitely b
“Someone was in here!” William said angrily and stormed into the living room, his face twisted in rage. He didn’t want to cause a scene because there were secrets hidden in that room that no one was to ever find out and if Jacob or Garcia saw him getting so worked up about someone going into his room, they would wonder what was in it that he wanted to hide so badly. So, he called one of the maids and had her call the others to his study.“Get everyone to my study, now!” He yelled at the young maid who immediately scurried off to grab the other staff. The maids scattered at the entrance of his study, unsure of the source of his anger as they sensed trouble on the way.“Which one of you came into my study?!” He barked, his voice echoing through the four walls of the study. The maids exchanged confused glances as they silently questioned each other. Tracy, one of the older maids decided to speak up and save everyone from William’s wrath.“Pardon me, sir, but, none of us came into this fl
“Emma?” An overly familiar voice called out and Emma froze. When she looked up, she found William standing beside his son, Jacob. They both stared at her with suspicion as she never frequented the area unless she was being called.“What are you doing here?” William asked, narrowing his eyes at her Emma’s heart pounded harshly against her chest and her mind raced, searching for a lie to get her out of the situation she was in.“I…I..uh.. the thing is…” She stammered but couldn’t form any coherent sentence.“What are you doing in this hallway, Emma? You know it belongs to Father and I don’t think you were sent by anyone so what the fuck are you doing here?” Jacob yelled, his gaze sharp and full of suspicion.Emma knew that she had to say something fast if she didn’t want them to throw her out right there so, she said the first thing that entered her head.“I was looking for you, Jacob. I searched everywhere but couldn’t find you so I decided to come here since I know you visit here freq
Emma stared at the now-revealed door with her jaw on the ground. Her pulse quickened and her feet trembled but, she was determined to uncover whatever secret was hidden behind the door so, she stepped in. There was a dark hallway, the only source of light being a dim light which was at the end of the hallway. She finally reached the end of the hallway and a door came into view. Emma said a small prayer before reaching for the doorknob and to her surprise, it wasn’t locked. Her heart thundered in her chest as the door creaked open, revealing a small, dimly lit room. It was almost like a private lounge with leather couches, a glass coffee table, and a running air conditioner. The air in the secret room was cold with a faint scent of cigarettes. This meant that the room wasn’t abandoned. If anything, it was still very much in use. But she wasn’t there to gaze at the mysterious room so, she blinked and readied herself. “Alright, Emma.” She whispered to herself in a barely audible voi
THE WADE MANSIONEmma sat on her king-sized bed, her mind filled with various thoughts. With her family’s name on the decline and her father on the verge of imprisonment for money laundering, she had lost all the modeling projects she was handling and had received cancellation emails from other brands that wanted to work with her.Her life was falling apart and there was nothing she could do.The last few days had been hard for her as she could feel the tension in the Wade mansion. She knew that something big was about to happen. She could feel it.Jacob’s attitude had become worse and even his parents were no longer on her side. Not that they were ever on her side. Her only option was Anna, the only person who had offered to help her. She understood that if she wanted to save her family and herself, she had to listen to Anna. There was no time to be suspicious of her.A knock on the door pulled her out of her thoughts. Garcia opened the door and walked in, a false smile on her face.
