Vera's POVThe first thing I heard was the continuous beep of a machine. My eyes fluttered open slowly, the white ceiling above making me sqùint. I blinked again, my vision adjusting to the brightness around me. I felt cold air touching my cheeks, the light smell of antiseptic in the air.I was so confused, trying to remember where I was and how I got here. Then it hit me. The white walls, the machine, the faint smell of antiseptic, I was in the hospital. But why?Just then, a rush of my memories came back. I had been with Reymond at home, eating, talking, laughing and just enjoying a meal as a married couple when I felt the weakness in my hands, then my chest had gotten tight, my vision became blurry and I couldn't feel my hands again. Then darkness. The last thing I saw was Reymond's panicked face.Speaking of–My eyes drifted to my side, and there he was.Reymond.Asleep in the chair beside my bed, his head laying backwards on the chair. He looked tired and exhausted. He was in hi
Diana's POVI stood frozen, the chill of the evening breeze enveloping around me like a cool blanket. There she was, my mother standing at my doorstep with tears in her eyes. She held her purse to her chest like she had a huge sum of money in it and was trying to protect it at all cost.I wanted to tease her or laugh but this wasn't a laughing matter. She would only cry more."Diana," she said, almost in a whisper. "Why haven’t you been answering my calls? I was worried."I rolled my eyes. I'm not in the mood for this at all. "If you came here to scold me or tell me how disappointed you are, don’t bother. I already know."Her face fell. Her eyes were full of emotion as she stepped closer. "No, baby, no. That’s not why I’m here. I just… I needed to see you. I needed to be sure you were okay. I'm your mother after all." Her voice cracked, She was shivering too, and just like that, my walls crumbled. I couldn't leave her like that. I opened the door wider and stepped aside. "Come in."S
Vera's POVI stood in front of the glass-paneled building Reymond had dropped me off at. It had several floors above, the morning light reflecting off the sleek tall glass building. I took a moment to take a deep breath. I was so excited and nervous at the same time.I pushed the glass door open and entered the building. The place was really beautiful and elegant. It had cream marble floors, a long desk sat at the far end with a woman seated behind it, typing on a sleek keyboard. Then on the other side was a door leading to the other sides, I guess.Framed photos of models in different, unique poses covers lined the walls. Places they also featured in magazines, shows and events were also lined up in picture frames on the wall.At the other side were chairs, a long roll of chairs for people to sit down. From the look of things, the woman sitting there was the receptionist given she was the only person I saw so I approached her.“Good morning,” I said as I got to the desk. The recept
Vera's POVAnna's eyes sparkled the moment I told her I was pregnant. Her face lit up, and she reached across the table to hold my hand. She couldn't stop smiling and her smile put me in a very happy mood. She was basically more happy than I and Reymond combined, the parents of the child. It felt so good to have her back "Vera! That's amazing news! Oh my God, congratulations!" she said, grinning from ear to ear.I laughed softly, feeling warmth spread across my chest. "Thanks. I haven't told a people yet, but I just... I wanted you to know.""I'm so honored! This is big, girl! And Reymond? He must be over the moon!"“Yes, we both are.”Anna squeezed my hand again. "I'm happy for you. You deserve this happiness. After everything you've been through.""Thank you," I said quietly, smiling at her.“I'm sure it's going to be a pretty baby girl just like You.”Woah. I had not even thought about that“Let's not go that far, Anna.”“Okayy.” We laughed. Dinner continued after, with laughter
Diana's POVThe walls of my apartment felt like they were closing in, I saw curled up on the couch, a half empty glass of wine in my hand. I have been consuming a lot of wine lately and I couldn't care less, it calmed me down. My phone lay face up on the table, still and silent. I had called Francis five times now and he was still ignoring my calls. Each ring that ended in voicemail felt like a knife being twisted deep into my chest. I tossed the phone aside and sighed. He was a coward, I couldn't care less if he picked my call or not.“Bastard,” I hissed. “Spineless, weak coward.”All this because of that silly video. I had counted on Francis to handle Vera, to bury her and everything she stood for. Instead, he left me so alone and was angry, how stupid of him. And Reymond? I am going to get you back for what he did.We made a promise. He had sworn that no matter how bad things got, he won't expose me. That video was supposed to be between us and now he uploaded it and ruined my repu
Vera's POVThe internet had a way of making things feel unreal until they weren’t. For the past few weeks, I’d carried a huge weight I couldn't name, one that pressed against my chest every time I opened my phone and saw that message of losing my modelling contract. But now… the silence is gone.It was replaced by something else—relief. Real, honest relief.Reymond had posted the video. And just like that, the truth was out.People had seen the part where I had defended myself against Diana. The damage to Diana’s lie was slow and sharp. And best of all, my name was finally cleared.I sat at the edge of the bed, my phone in my hand. Notifications kept pouring in, but I ignored them for now. All I could do was sit there and breathe.Reymond came into the room, towel in hand, drying his face. “You saw it?”I looked up at him, smiled, and nodded. “Yes. I did. Thank you.”He crossed over to me and knelt down, resting his head on my thighs. “Don’t thank me. You didn’t deserve any of what Di
