Elaris’ POV

The private jet slowed down as it rolled along the airport runway, and as soon as the small plane came to a complete stop near the terminal, the cabin door opened, allowing the warm afternoon light to flood inside. I unbuckled my seatbelt, stood up from my chair, and reached out to take my twins by their hands, guiding them toward the open door where the stairs were lowered.

"Are we finally here, Mommy?" Casey asked, holding his small backpack against his chest while looking out at the buildings across the runway with wide, curious eyes.

"Yes, we are back in the city now, sweetie," I answered, giving his hand a gentle squeeze as we slowly walked down the steps together, "so I need both of you to stay right beside me while we get into the car."

"Is Uncle Enzo waiting for us down there?" Cassandra asked, holding my other hand tightly while smoothing down the front of her blue dress with her free fingers.

"He is standing right by the black car," I replied, pointing toward the bottom of the stairs where Enzo Everhart stood waiting for us with a warm smile on his face.

"Elaris, welcome back," Enzo called out, stepping forward to take my small bag from my hand, then leaning down to pull both Casey and Cassandra into a quick, warm hug. "How was the long flight for my two favorite kids?"

"It was so long, Uncle Enzo," Casey said, hugging him back before stepping back to stand beside his sister, "and Cassandra took up all the space on the small couch during the last two hours."

"I did not," Cassandra argued immediately, crossing her arms while looking up at her brother, "you were sleeping the whole time, so you didn't even notice where I was sitting."

"Alright, you two, stop arguing on the runway," Enzo said, laughing softly as he opened the passenger door of the car and helped both children climb into the back seats. "We have plenty of time to unpack, get some food, and settle down at the house."

I walked around to the passenger side, sat down beside Enzo as he took the driver's seat, and pulled my seatbelt across my lap while he started the engine and drove out of the airport gates.

"Did your team manage to prepare the penthouse downtown?" I asked, turning my head to look at him as we merged onto the highway leading toward the center of the city.

"Everything is completely ready," Enzo answered, keeping his eyes on the road while driving smoothly through the afternoon traffic, "the staff stocked the kitchen with fresh food, the children's rooms are fully furnished, and my assistant dropped off all the financial documents for our upcoming project."

"Thank you, Enzo," I said, leaning my head back against the seat while looking out at the tall buildings passing by outside, "I really appreciate everything you have done to help us get settled so quickly."

"You don't have to thank me for anything, Elaris," Enzo replied, giving me a quick glance before turning his focus back to the road, "we are business partners, and you know I care about you and the twins like my own family, so I will always make sure you have whatever you need."

"Mommy, are we going to see the city from our new rooms?" Cassandra called out from the back seat, leaning forward against her seatbelt to talk to us.

"Yes, Cassandra," Enzo answered for me, smiling as he looked in the rear-view mirror, "the penthouse is on the top floor, so you can see the whole city and the river right from your bedroom window."

"That sounds amazing," Casey said, looking out his side window with an excited expression on his face, "can we go to the park near the river tomorrow?"

"We will see how busy tomorrow gets, sweetie," I told him, turning around in my seat to look at both of them with a gentle smile, "because Mommy has a very important meeting to take care of first thing in the morning."

"Is it about the work you were doing on your laptop yesterday?" Cassandra asked, looking at me with a thoughtful expression that always reminded me of how sharp she was for her age.

"Yes, it is just some old paperwork that needs to be signed and registered," I explained simply, not wanting to burden them with any details about their father or the past that I had left behind six years ago.

"Is someone giving you trouble with the paperwork, Elaris?" Enzo asked softly, keeping his voice low so the children would not focus on our conversation.

"No, it is just the final registration of my divorce with Cassian," I whispered back, looking straight ahead at the road as we pulled into the underground parking garage of the luxury apartment building. "I signed those papers six years ago, but he never officially registered them with the city court, so I am going to his office tomorrow morning to force him to put his final signature on the registry so I can be completely done with him forever."

"Do you want me to come with you to his office tomorrow?" Enzo offered, turning off the car engine as we came to a stop in a reserved parking space near the private elevator entrance. "I know how complicated things were between you two back then, and I don't want him trying to cause any trouble for you or your business."

"No, I need to handle this by myself," I said firmly, reaching for the door handle and stepping out into the garage, "Cassian Virelli is just a stranger to me now, and once he signs those final documents tomorrow morning, he will have no connection to my life ever again."

"Alright, if that is what you want, I will respect your decision," Enzo said, stepping out of the car to open the back doors for the twins, "but if he gives you even the slightest bit of trouble, you call me immediately and I will handle it."

"I will," I promised, taking Casey and Cassandra by their hands once again as we walked toward the elevator that would take us straight up to our new home.

Cassian’s POVI sat completely alone behind my table in the dimly lit study, staring blankly at the dark screen of my laptop while the absolute silence of the mansion heavy around me made every single thought in my head echo with intense frustration and confusion.I leaned my back against the leather chair, pressed my palms firmly against my face, and tried to make sense of the wild chaos that had consumed my life ever since Elaris walked into my corporate office earlier this morning demanding my signature on our old divorce registry. No matter how hard I tried to focus on my financial work, my mind kept drifting straight back to the riverfront restaurant, replay after replay of the exact moment I shoved Liora's hand away from that little boy named Casey.I firmly believed in my heart that I had never once touched Elaris during the entire two years of our marriage, because I had spent those two years remaining cold, distant, and completely separate from her out of resentment for how s

Liora’s POVThe driver pulled the black car up to the front entrance of the Virelli mansion, and the second the vehicle came to a complete stop, I hurried out of the passenger seat without waiting for help, holding my orange-stained dress together with one hand while my five-year-old son Stanley sat quietly in the back seat with his nanny.I rushed straight up the front steps, led Stanley into the living area, and sat him down on the long sofa just as Cassian walked into the hallway through the front doors, his expression completely dark and distant after everything that had happened at the restaurant."Cassian, please, you have to listen to me before you make any sudden decisions about us," I cried out, stepping directly into his path while tears streamed down my cheeks, "I know I lost my temper at the restaurant, but I was just so overwhelmed and hurt by how Elaris treated me after all these years.""I told you at the restaurant that I do not want to hear any more of your excuses to

Elaris’ POVI pulled Casey tightly into my arms as the restaurant manager and his security guards stepped between us and Cassian, while the entire dining room full of people stared at us in complete silence."If you or Liora ever approach my children again, Cassian, I will make sure the police and my legal team handle you publicly," I said, keeping my voice loud and clear so every single person in the room could hear every word, "you have no right to come near my family, and I am warning both of you right now to stay away from us forever.""Elaris, please just listen to me for one second," Cassian called out, trying to take a step past the security guards, but Enzo stepped right in front of him, blocking his view completely."She gave you her final answer, Virelli," Enzo said, taking Cassandra's small hand while looking at Cassian with absolute coldness, "do not make another mistake today."We turned around and walked straight out of the doors, where our driver was already waiting wi

  • The Billionaire's Forgotten Savior   Chapter Thirteen

Cassian’s POVI followed Liora’s taxi through the city traffic after my investigator informed me that she had skipped her lunch delivery and was tracking Elaris’ car downtown. The moment my driver pulled up to the valet entrance of the riverfront restaurant, I stepped out onto the sidewalk, bypassed the host stand without saying a word, and walked straight into the dining room.A loud commotion was coming from the center of the room, and as I cleared the tall decorative plants near the aisle, I saw Liora screaming at the top of her lungs, her white dress soaked in orange juice as she reached down and aggressively grabbed the arm of six-year-old Casey, who was crying uncontrollably in his chair."Look at what you did to my dress, you worthless little creature!" Liora shrieked, her fingers digging deep into the boy's small arm as she shook him violently. An overwhelming rage surged through my entire body, and before Elaris or Enzo could even take another step forward, I closed the distan

Elaris’ POVThe waiter had just set down our drinks and taken our food orders when I noticed a shadow falling across the edge of our table, making me look up from my glass of water to see Liora standing right beside my chair with a fake, sweet smile plastered across her face."Elaris, I truly could not believe my eyes when I saw you walking through the restaurant," Liora said, smoothing down her designer white dress while looking down at me with a soft, pitying expression, "it has been six whole years since you abandoned the family without saying goodbye to anyone, so I just had to come over and see how you were doing after living out of the city for so long.""We are in the middle of a private family meal, Liora," I replied, my voice dropping into a cold tone as I rested my hands on the table, "so unless you have a legitimate reason to be standing near my children, I suggest you walk back to your own seat.""Oh, don't be so defensive, Elaris," Liora continued, letting out a small

Liora’s POVI walked through the ground-floor doors of the Virelli corporate building carrying a lunch bag, smiling at the front desk security guards who immediately bowed their heads to greet me as the future lady of the estate. Cassian had been ignoring my phone calls all morning, so I decided to drop by his office unannounced to remind him about our engagement party plans and make sure he knew I was still the most important person in his life."Good morning, Miss Liora," the head receptionist said, stepping out from behind her counter to smile at me, "are you heading up to Mr. Virelli's private office?""Yes, I am bringing him lunch since he was too busy to pick up his phone today," I replied, keeping my voice sweet and gentle as I walked past her toward the private VIP elevator bank at the back of the lobby. Before I could swipe my keycard to call the elevator down, the indicator light flashed green, and the heavy doors slid open right in front of my face.I took a half-step back
