Chapter 1

Sonia's point of view...

"Out...!" he grunted as irritatingly as he could, his cold voice more like a roar, a ruling that can shiver the one listening.

Standing in front of me was the most dangerous man in the world that I have ever heard of, Arjun Thakur.

Yet extravagantly handsome and devilishly dangerous at the same time. He was someone who could make your soul shiver in fear with just his gaze. And his presence was like a death wish.

His every grunt resembles a lion's roar.

His command jolted me, and I was terrified, annoyingly shivering before him. I didn't have any other way. I have to obey him whatever he says no matter what he wants from me or commands me to do.

The way I was, I could barely get myself up, my legs were sore and my whole body was like it had just been crashed many times brutally.

"Get the hell out of here...!" he yelled again and I gasped hurrying, even though I didn't want to be here before that monster.

I stumbled towards the room door holding the wall as a support for my every step. Hurrying myself to get out of this hell but how long will I be able to protect myself?

Because deep down, I know it was just the beginning of my horrible journey.

As soon as I stepped out, something got in my way and I tumbled miserably on the floor. Fortunately, I held my hands before that face of mine or I would have broken my nose for sure.

"Ugh...!" a painful sigh left my lips as something sharp dug into my palm.

I was hurt enough for the day to make me cry a hundred times but I had been holding it in all this time. I can't cry...!

Not at least now when it's all over...! I think...!

Unless I don't know what that monster will do to me next.

I have had enough of his torment for today I don't have the strength to bear with any.

But this time when I fell, a strong pain raised in my knee, and my palm was ripped a bit resulting in slight bleeding. This was what was less in this misery, blood.

"A country bumpkin, with that shit face of hers, is trying to seduce a star from the sky...!" a taunt and I raised my head to face the one that caused everything when someone had already raised my chin on her foot staring at me. I could see a gritting woman with dizzy eyes.

"Dream on...!" she yelled, "Who the heck do you think you are to even think you can touch him? He is mine...!" she hissed.

"Go have him" I mumbled, "Who wants a heartless man like him" I added, she gritted even more,

"You bitch....!"

As my vision cleared, I could see that girl was fully dressed in a bride's costume, standing before me, her makeup was ruined and her eyes were swollen.

I took a deep breath, gasping for air harder when I finally realized that she was the bride from before, Mitali Sharma.

I can understand what she was going through because I know what happened to her. But the thing that she was going to hear now might ruin her further. I couldn't imagine how she would react when she got to know what was going to happen next.

"You bloody bitch...!" she sniffed, burning in anger, her hands clasping my hair tightly and raising me without mercy. It hurts...!

It hurt a lot...!

Her eyes were filled with a dangerous resentment that could go to any extent. That was merely because I ruined her marriage but what would happen to her if she heard that the man who was about to be married to her was now going to marry me?

There was a murderous aura around her that could fear anyone but it was not that dangerous which I just witnessed.

I was sure she wanted to kill me hundreds of times if she could and for now, I assume at least she is going to hit me because she thought I deserved it.

Because for the world I spoiled her beautiful dream.

Her wedding...! She was supposed to get married today but because of my mistake, it was all ruined.

She raised her hand and I closed my eyes, expecting to be slapped on my face to an extent that might leave a scar. At least I could do that. But that slap never landed.

"Excuse me, Miss Mitali, you can get in"

The door of that room opened again and a man got out with an order from his boss.

I flung open my eyes as she threw me on the ground when I was not prepared, disgustingly as if I was a dump, and followed that man in a hurry after giving me a deadly stare.

I stood up again holding the wall. I was asked to stay outside, don't know how long. As the wind caused the door slightly open, I could hear some arguments from inside.

"Why would you do that to me...! You can't do this...!" I heard Mitali pleading inside the room.

"Shut up...!" he roared.

My heart skipped a couple of beats as I heard his cold voice again. I can't imagine what will happen inside that room.

"Take her away...!" that man of a monster grunted in a very unpleasant voice.

"Thud...!" a sound was heard, which was probably of someone falling and that's it I didn't hear anything from Mitali after that.

Many doubts popped out in my mind, did he kill her? What is going on?

Why was she crying so hard?

Did he tell you about the wedding tonight?

I was still shivering at those thoughts when a man got out again, it was the same man who called for Mitali.

"You" he called me and I jolted tilting my head to him.

A handsome young man with a well-built body but spets hanging on his face. He might be around the age of twenty-five or so, but those spets made him look more aged. He looked so obedient to his boss just like a suicide squad. Ready to do whatever his boss tells him to do.

"Come with me..." he instructed marching away from the door. I struggled hard to keep up with him. I knew where he was taking me but truly I wasn't willing to trust them anymore.

Whatsoever...!

Do I have a chance after what happened today...!

I followed him down the stairs of the mansion and just before the grand door there was a car waiting for us.

"Get in," he said and opened the car door for me.

Reluctantly, I got in.

Another car ride for the day but the situations are different. I was a captive at that time but now...!

I don't know what was waiting for me this time. I sat in, calmly and he sat on the driver's seat.

No other words, I lay on the seat silently, recalling all that had happened in just one day.

My life shattered, ripped and now glued in just a few hours.

Everything changed...!

Who would believe that I was dreaming of getting free from hell a moment before and now I am walking into the bigger version of it?

Sometimes I wonder, how could someone have a life so miserable as I have?

I doubt if I ever commit suicide in my life, maybe I won't succeed, just because it's a simple way to end this misery and my fate prefers all the rotten miseries to make me suffer.

I laid my head on the car seat and recalled all those dreadful memories from yesterday.

In one day many things happened.

Just yesterday morning I lost my job in the library because I don't belong to a well-known family.

Bloody hypocrisy... Bloody racists...!

I can't understand, if I do have a well-known family, why the heck would I be doing that trashy job?

That night was one of the most horrible nights that I ever had in my life, or at least I thought it was.

I was utterly exhausted from the day I had experienced, desperately needing some time to clear my mind.

The only place where I could be truly alone and feel alive was the rooftop.

Because of the city's ceaseless activity, the atmosphere here was suffocating and the wind declined to cooperate.

I longed for the cool breeze to soothe my tired skin, but it remained elusive, even at midnight.

Frustrated, I even climbed the fence wall in search of a breath of fresh air, but to no avail. The watchman of my building had gone crazy shouting at me like a mad dog.

I couldn't find the peace of mind I so desperately craved. To add to it, my phone, resting on a log beside me, relentlessly rang for the twentieth time in just an hour.

What the hell...!

Reluctantly, I had to descend because of the incessant calls, all from those desperate souls.

Are they all having a crisis today? I wondered,

Why is it so hard to catch a break?

I jumped down from the rooftop and finally glanced at my phone's screen. My eyes widened at the sight of nineteen missed calls from one number, Misha.

It's her again...! I sighed in irritation.

I was torn between answering the call and avoiding it.

Misha is my college mate and she came to me with a job offer, just one day and a handsome amount as a payment. But it was something that I couldn't do for her yet she had been forcing me to do it.

Why can't she find someone else, man? I told her I couldn't do it...!

Ugh...! Scrolling down, through my call log, I noticed the last number that had flashed on the screen.

"Oh my god...! Shit...!"

My eyes widened, and I trembled slightly.

She's going to kill me tonight.

My mind is filled with dreadful possibilities I might face when I return to my apartment. That last call was from Amrita, my aunt. She hates me to the core. She calls me a bastard child every time she faces me.

I hate living with them but I have no choice at least I have a place to call home.

I had sneaked out of my flat in the middle of the night without informing anyone, not my aunt or my cousin. I was sure she had a better topic to taunt me.

In a panic, I hurriedly pressed the fourth-floor button in the elevator.

At that time all that I could imagine was a few slaps from her or maybe she could do that favor with a belt but what I saw just fumed away all my thoughts in a second.

I was stunned to find my house in chaos. It was two in the morning, and my aunt and uncle were entertaining an unwelcome guest.

A man in his forties with a potbelly was sitting on one of the sofas. Leering disgustingly at me. I halted my steps because I didn't know why but I felt something was wrong, a churning feeling in my gut raised inside me.

"Here she comes, Mr. Khurana," said Amrita, rising from her seat to receive me with a forced smile spread on her face.

"Ha ha he," the man drooled, gazing at me with unsettling lust in his eyes.

"I agree...I agree...!" he mumbled instantly adding something that flushed me out in no time,

"I'm interested in marrying her. She has a very good body and looks amazing. I like her," he declared, still staring at me with those piercing eyes.

I couldn't comprehend what was happening. Marry? Did I hear that correctly? Who was this man, and what exactly was transpiring?

My phone buzzed once more, but my current state of confusion made it difficult for me to pay any attention to the call.

"Come here, my baby, let your groom have a good look at you," my aunt reached out for me affectionately. Those words hit me like a lightning bolt, and I stood there, bewildered, without even blinking.

Groom?

But who...?

At that very moment, I just thought of getting away from these things and that's it. I didn't think of any consequences.
