“We still haven’t gotten much information on him. But I looked into Lily and I found out she was with him twice last year during his vacation,” William says, looking at me. I gulped. I knew this was the case but I didn’t expect it to be true. “Give me the date.” William exchanged looks with one of his men and I knew the next thing I heard would shatter me. He sighed. “One on March 15th, then another on July 3rd.” “What?” I whispered. William sucked in a deep breath. “I looked into his finances and on June 28th, he purchased a luxury item. A House of Tiffany jewelry to be exact, and he got it in Lily’s name,” he told me. I haven’t recovered from the shock, but this one was worse. “We proceeded to look into the hotel they later checked into and looked into the security, and we were able to get these pictures,” he told me, handing some photographs to me. I took them slowly and they were all pictures of them. Walking around holding hands, on different dates, and in each picture, they both had the biggest smiles on their faces. One would think they were a happy couple just having fun and enjoying their holiday. In the last picture, she wore the jewelry proudly and it was glistening on her neck. “The vacation he went on March 15th, it was with a woman named Racheal. We also have pictures of them and things he bought around that time, but I don’t think there is a need to see that,” he said, mumbling the last part, taking the photos from me. I shook my head. I didn’t need to see it. All of this wouldn’t have hit me this much if July 3rd hadn’t been our fourth anniversary. I remembered clearly what happened around our anniversary. A week before the anniversary, Richard and I had gotten into a big argument over the same jewelry he got for Lily. It was a new collection and I wanted it. I love luxury items and love to wear new collections or limited collections. I had mentioned to Richard that I would like to get one for myself. He was very against it, and told me I loved to spend recklessly because I was fortunate. He went ahead to make me feel like a horrible human for simply wanting a piece of jewelry. And then, he left the house and I didn’t see Richard for the next two weeks. All my calls went to voicemail, his men were refusing to tell me where he was, and for those two weeks I was losing my mind. On our anniversary, I didn’t get a call from Richard, a gift, or even something as simple as a text message. But he was with my younger sister on that day, and worse, he got her that same jewelry I wanted. He took her on a vacation and acted like a doting husband to her while I was here worried he might be angry with me. He has never bought me any luxurious item or been thoughtful towards me. On our third anniversary, we went on a vacation that I paid for. All the dates and dinners we went on were sponsored by me. The only thing Richard had to give me was a small bouquet of lily pollen, and I am allergic to it, but Richard didn’t realize. He kept apologizing and shifting blame, but I wasn’t even offended. I was only happy he got me flowers. I had been the biggest fool. “Aria,” William called, placing his hand on my arm. I blinked and the tears rolled down. I didn’t even realize I was crying. “Excuse us,” he told his man, Chris, and he nodded, walking away. It was just us left, and he sat beside me on the couch. He cleaned my cheek softly. “There’s no use crying over him, Aria,” he mumbled. “He has always been a piece of shit.” I sniffed, looking at William brokenly. “I did everything for him, William. Does he hate me that much?” William shook his head. “No, Aria,” he said. “He doesn’t hate you. He is only jealous of you, jealous of what you have. And I am happy you finally know now, and you survived that crash. We can get our revenge.” “You knew of his affairs?” He nodded. “Yes, but I never suspected him and Lily. I didn’t think she was going to betray you that way. After the incident, I began to look into Richard. That’s how I connected the dots to the family,” he told me. I looked away, breathing out into my palm. My heart was aching, but I didn’t dare cry out. “I have been in this penthouse for two weeks and Richard hasn’t visited me once. He doesn’t care about my health. He must be with Lily,” I said. “You are right. He followed her to her last appointment and he is posing as her brother-in-law. All his attention is on her pregnancy,” he replied. I sucked in a deep breath again. I have always wanted to have our child, but Richard was, of course, against it. We always used protection, and on the days when things happened fast and we didn’t use protection, the next day he would force me to take contraceptives. He would give excuses that he wasn’t ready for a child, and I believed him. Throughout our years of dating and being married, I have never been pregnant once. “I think I am ready to make a comeback. I have healed enough,” I told William. “We should wait a bit. You are still experiencing fatigue. Coming back now can overwhelm you,” he told me, but I turned to him sharply. “I am not saying this as your friend, William, or your god daughter. I am telling you this as a boss to an employee. If I stay one more week in this penthouse I will lose my mind. I will go crazy,” I snapped, looking into his eyes. He nodded. “What day should I fix?” I thought about it. I wanted to make it as grand as possible. The media has been curious if I survived the accident and my family and team have been silent. This is the time to make a headline. “Mr. Vincenzo is launching his new business this Saturday night, right?” I asked. “Yes.” “That’s perfect. Richard must be attending. Get me an invite,” I told him. He nodded. “Call Martha. I want my entrance to be as grand as possible,” I told him, and he nodded. Martha is the head of my glam team. She is the best and knows what’s best for me. On Saturday night, I am going to be back fully, and this time, they are all going to pay. William stood up and left, and I walked to the balcony. I looked at the beautiful city, admiring the sunny sky. The gentle breeze hit my face and I smiled. But my smile was different from the turmoil happening inside of me. My heart was heavy and aching with revenge. I would take away everything from them and leave them with nothing. They are all going to suffer for what they did to me. Especially Richard and Lily. She used to be my younger sister who I loved so much. I did everything she asked of me and the world knows how she was always right by my side. The media referred to it as sister goals. She was always right by my side and I looked at her with pride. I thought I raised a decent human being who would always make me proud, but I had no idea how equally evil her heart was. She didn’t think of how I would feel, not once. None of them did. When my revenge begins, I won’t think of them or how they would feel. I don’t care whose life would be lost or destroyed. I won’t stop until I am satisfied and I have paid their evil with evil.AriaI walked back into my office, burning with anger. How dare they try to act innocent after getting caught red-handed? I had just finished the meeting with my executives and the police officers escorted them out of the building after. It had started as a routine gathering, they had all welcomed me back warmly, and I never would have guessed those were the very men driving my father's company into ruin. When I brought up the missing funds, I watched their faces transform. They knew they were caught, but they still tried to play dumb. What began as a quiet meeting quickly turned into an uproar, with insults hurled straight at my face. They claimed I must have hit my head hard during the accident and was spouting absolute nonsense. I knew Richard was the one who had fueled that disrespect; he was the only one to blame.I poured myself a glass of water and downed it in one gulp, trying to calm my nerves. Just then, Richard barged into my office. I looked up, my temper flaring, but I fo
AriaI stepped out of the car and looked up at the headquarters of Brooks & Co. Holdings. The towering skyscraper reached into the sky, its sharp glass facade reflecting the morning clouds like a giant mirror. Below, the elevated plaza was lined with sleek white walkways, neat green lawns, and a glass skybridge connecting the towers. It was imposing, modern, and powerful, my father's empire, which was willed to me. And now, I was back to take back control.I used to wonder why Richard wanted this company so badly, but now I know exactly why. This was a massive, beautiful skyscraper with over 3,000 employees, and I controlled it all. My employees respected me; they bowed their heads when I passed. He was jealous of the control I had, jealous of the respect. He wanted to be respected like I was, to be feared. He probably went to bed every night dreaming of how he was going to take over and become CEO. I had been a fool, after all, because I had been ready to hand all of this over to him
Aria“How do you feel?” Wayne asked. It was late at night, and I had sent a message to Richard saying I would be staying with William, which he completely ignored. I suppose he was too busy with the celebration.“I guess I'm fine,” I whispered, taking the drink from his hands. He sat beside me, and we both stared up at the dark sky. I was sitting on the patio wearing his clothes, wrapped snugly in a blanket. It felt refreshing not to be in that penthouse or at my house, surrounded by people who hated me.“You’ve been sitting out here for a while,” he said, letting out a soft breath.“Just reflecting,” I mumbled. “I never thought a day like this would come.”“My mother never approved of Richard, my aunt was completely against him, and it took hell and an absurd amount of effort to convince them he was the right one for me. But… they were right,” I whispered, exhaling slowly.“I still wonder how he got them on his side, how he manipulated them so easily. I had the best relationship with
Aria“There, there, stop crying. A pretty girl like you shouldn’t be crying,” I told her, pulling away. She sniffled, and I wiped her tears, taking her face gently in my hands.“You know how much I love you, right?” I asked. She nodded, and I smiled. “I got you that car you’ve always wanted, and a house. All for you,” I told her.Her eyes widened in shock, a bright smile spreading across her face. “Really?”I nodded. “It’s your push gift. You are my baby sister, and I would do anything to make you happy. You know that.”Lily beamed, throwing her arms around me. “Thank you, Sister! I’m so happy!” she exclaimed, and I laughed quietly. She had always wanted that house and car, but I had kept telling her, not now. She had begged me so many times, but back then, I wasn't ready for her to leave the estate and live on her own. I was just trying to be a p
AriaThe car parked in front of my house and I came down, breathing out. Today was Lily’s baby shower and of course I had to make an appearance. I was in the hospital for two weeks and those were the longest weeks of my life. I was tired of seeing white walls, tired of the smell, and tired of lying vulnerable on that bed. Surprisingly, Richard stuck around. He made sure I was getting everything I needed and didn’t leave my side.I began to wonder if he didn’t care about his baby on the way. Lily would have wanted his attention, to be babied by him and to plan the gender reveal together. But for those two weeks, he never left my side; he slept on the couch, made sure I was eating, and followed up with the doctor. He acted like a doting husband, but I wasn’t moved. He only felt guilty because I had passed out beside him all night while he slept soundly. And it’s not like he genuinely cared—if I had died beside him, he wouldn’t have successfully gotten his hands on the company. After two
AriaThe slow sound of the machine beeping woke me up from my slumber. I slowly opened my eyes, and at first, everything looked blurry and bright. The only thing I saw was white walls, and I was confused. Was I dead? Was I in heaven? I blinked repeatedly, and the room became clear. I looked around and noticed I was in a ward. The door opened and Richard walked in.He ran to me once he noticed I was awake. “Aria,” he called, looking down at me worriedly. I opened my mouth to say something, but no words came out.“I will get the doctor,” he said, running outside. I lay on the bed without moving, and shortly after, he returned with help. Doctor James checked my vitals and spoke to me, but I was too weak to utter a word.“W-water,” I finally whispered, hoping he heard me. Richard looked around the room and quickly grabbed me a bottle of water. After drinking the water, I felt better.“How is she, Doctor?” he asked, looking at me worriedly.Doctor James sighed. “Her health is deteriorating
