Chapter 5: He's here again.

I just did what I had to do in those days, and when it was over, I went shopping with my friends. As usual, everything I bought was just for Agatha, and I didn't buy anything for myself. After we finished shopping, we ate and rested in the afternoon before our long flight again.

Claire almost had a hangover from their drinking last night, so she slept in the afternoon. I just tidied the room, and I tidied her other things because she said she had a headache. It's better for her to sleep now because she might not be able to do her duty properly later.

"Thanks, Kali. I'll just give you your food later in Singapore," she said when he woke up.

"No worries. How are you feeling? Do you still have a headache?" I asked her one after another.

"I feel much better now. It will disappear later when I take a shower again," she answered.

I nodded and couldn't speak because someone rang the doorbell in our room. Claire and I looked at each other for a moment before I finally got up from the bed and went straight to the door to see who was outside.

When I opened the door, I saw that it was Angelo. He smiled while looking at me, then slightly raised the paper bag he was holding as if he were handing it to me. I only looked at it for a moment, then returned my gaze to him.

"Captain! What's up?" I asked him, then laughed a little.

He smiled at me and licked his lips before he spoke.

"I just came here to give you this," he said, then handed me the paper bag he was holding.

I frowned before I took it to see what was inside.

"What's this?" I asked him.

When I finally opened the paper bag and saw what was inside, I couldn't help but be surprised, and then I looked at him.

"I hope you like it," he said, then shrugged.

"Oh my gosh! Capt! I can't accept this," I said, then handed the paper bag back to him.

I shook my head at him and tried to take his hand so that he could hold the paper bag that I was returning to him.

"But why? Isn't that what you want?" he asked.

I nodded but shook my head at the same time because of the shame I felt. That dress I was looking at earlier in the mall It's beautiful, and I want to buy it, but it's not in my budget because I've already bought Agatha with my other money. I just didn't know that he had just seen me looking at it earlier.

"Yeah, but you don't have to buy this for me. It's so expensive," I answered him.

"Don't mind the price. It's my gift for you. I couldn't give you a gift for your birthday last time," he explained to me one after the other.

I shook my head because it was not his obligation to buy me a gift.

"Take it. It will be a waste if you don't accept it, especially since I have nothing else to give it to," he added.

"Thank you, Angelo, but you don't really have to. Alright, I'll take and accept that, but I'll pay you," I said to him.

"No, no. You don't have to pay me. Please, Kali. How many times have you rejected my treats for you? So, I hope you'll give me a chance, even this one," he insisted.

Yeah, he's right. I often refuse his treats, and he is not the only one I have refused. There's nothing wrong if you accept a gift or treat from others, but for me, I just don't want it. I don't want them to misinterpret my acceptance of the gifts they give me, especially if they're from men.

"Fine. I'll take it, but this is the last time, huh? Promise me it won't happen again," I said to him, then I took what he was giving me.

"I can't promise," he said, then laughed slightly.

I glared at him, causing him to laugh even more.

"Just kidding, Kali. So, I'll go now. See you later," he said to say goodbye.

I nodded to him and thanked him again for the dress he bought for me. When he left and I was able to go inside again, I couldn't escape Claire's suspicious looks at me.

"What?" I asked her.

She was still lying on the bed, but she got up immediately when she saw that I was holding a paper bag.

"What's in there? Can I see something?" she asked.

I was about to put it inside my suitcase, but Claire is struggling to see what it is.

"Is he courting you already?" she added.

She stood up and moved to my bed to take the paper bag I was holding.

"It's just a dress, and of course not! He's not courting me, so stop making an issue again, Claire," I explained to her one after the other.

I'll just let her take the paper bag and look at its contents.

"Oh my gosh! Is this the dress you were looking at earlier?" she asked in shock.

She even looked at me to confirm her question, so I just shrugged my shoulders at her.

"I knew it! That's why he stayed at the mall earlier just to buy it! My gosh, Kali! You're so special to him!" Claire said one after the other with a thrilled voice.

I just rolled my eyes at her and shook my head because she was making an issue again.

"Angelo and I are just friends. Maybe he saw me earlier wanting to buy that dress, but I can't buy it because I don't have any money," I explained to her.

"We are all friends here! Duh? But even one of our cabin crew girls has never bought anything," Claire continued.

"He always treats us to expensive restaurants," I said.

"Yeah, he does! But just like this present? Never!" she answered.

"I have a strong hunch. He really likes you," she added.

I just shook my head and let Claire believe what she wanted to believe. I don't want to argue anymore, and one more thing: it's not my obligation to think if Angelo really likes me, even though I know he really does.

When night fell, we had a quick dinner, and our service picked us up at the airport. I'm excited to go home because I can be with my daughter again. I am also sure that she will be happy again with the gift that I bought for her.

"My gosh, Kali! I've seen a handsome passenger again!" Claire said excitedly to me.

I winced at her because that's what she and Rein often do when they're on duty. I admit that there are always really handsome passengers, and our passengers are usually celebrities from different countries.

"And who is that artist?" I asked her.

"No. He's not an artist, I guess? He's so handsome! He also smelled so good when I met him earlier. Do you want to see him? Join me later to serve the food!" she said one after another just to force me to go with her.

"No, thanks. I'm not interested," I replied lazily to her.

"You're so kill joy! Come. You're the only one who can come with me because Rein wasn't here yet," she said to convince me.

"Fine! I'll go with you," I told her when I finally agreed with her.

Claire's mouth was open the entire flight, and she actually described the face of the man she was talking about. When the time came for us to serve food, Claire was very happy.

"Reduce your smile, and you'll be noticed," I told her.

She laughed and nodded, so I just shook my head again. I did what I had to do there, and when I got to my seat, my jaw almost dropped when I saw Anthony was there again. I could also see the shock in his eyes, and he even straightened up when he saw me.

Just like when we met last night, I saw how amazed he was while looking at me.

"Kali? Wow! You're here!" he said with his disbelieving voice.

"Do you know her?" asked a man next to Anthony.

"Yeah," Anthony answered while not taking his eyes off me.

"Here's your order, sir. Enjoy your meal," I said after I placed the food they ordered.

I politely nodded at them while smiling before I finally left, but I hadn't completely left when I heard Anthony calling me.

"Kali, wait!" he said. That's why I stopped.

I turned to his seat and walked back because they might add an order and also so I could tell him something.

"Kali, can I have a coffee too?" he asked.

I smiled and nodded to him.

"Sure, Sir! As long as you put Miss whenever you call me. We're not close enough to each other to call me by my first name." I directly answered him, then left there.

"Oh my gosh! I thought you weren't interested?" Claire asked me when I got back to the galley.

I looked at her with a frown because I didn't know what she was talking about and I hadn't seen the handsome man she was pointing at me yet.

"Where?" I asked her.

"What a handsome boy! It seems like you two still talked. What did he say? Did he also ask for your number like the other boys who are our passengers do?" he asked me one question after another while laughing.

"Is that handsome boy you're referring to the guy I served food to last?" I asked her.

"Yeah! Exactly! He's handsome, right? He's like a Holly Wood star!" Claire happily answered me.

I'm almost in agony and laughing. I was still wondering which man he was referring to. It turns out that Anthony is the only useless ex-boyfriend of mine! I could see Claire frowning as she watched my reaction.

"Why are you laughing? Don't tell me you have a crush on him too!" she asked miraculously.

"Of course not! Duh! He's not my type! Also, he's not handsome! I think your eyes are blurry!" I told her.

"Don't tell me he's still not up to your standards? He's handsome, he smells good, he looks nice, and above all, he's rich!" Claire kept nagging me.

"Someone like him will never meet my standards, especially now. So just make him coffee and you will serve. I will sit first because my feet hurt," I continued to tell her.

Claire did that, so I sat down first and took off my shoes so I could massage it for a moment. Later, Claire got back in there, so I looked up to her.

"He's looking for you! I knew it! You're the one he will like among all the cabin crew here! What kind of beauty do you have? Can I have some? I'm so jealous!" Claire said one after the other as if complaining.

I laughed and shook my head at her.

"And why is he looking for me? What does he need from me?" I asked her.

"I don't know. I haven't asked yet. Just go there to find out," she answered while shaking her head.

"No way. I'm not interested in him," I said.

"But why? It's like you've known each other for a long time," Clara added.

"No, we're not," I said.

I really have no intention of talking to that man again, especially since we don't have anything to talk about. He had rejected me before and sued me. Our last conversation didn't go well, and our breakup didn't go well either, because before we finally broke up, I still tasted physical pain from him. I just can't believe now that he's acting like he never did anything bad to me when we were together.

He's acting like nothing happened, like he didn't hit me, like he didn't hurt me physically, mentally, or emotionally.

Like he didn't accept our daughter.

Like he didn't cheat on me.

Like he didn't ruin my life completely.
