Harriett Edwards has been in love with Damien Daniels since childhood, so when both their parents arrange for them to be married, she gladly accepts even though she was well aware that it wasn’t what Damien wanted. For the three years of their marriage, she devoted her life to him with the hope that she would be able to change his mind and eventually get him to fall in love with her. It all comes crashing down when someone fabricates a picture of her cheating with Damien’s brother, Adrian. After seeing the pictures, he coldly said. “I want a divorce!” And even when she confessed her love to him, his reply was cold and hurtful. “I know. It doesn’t matter. I don’t love you.” What he didn’t know was that in her hand was the pregnancy test result from a mistake he made in his drunken state. Years later, they both meet at a friend’s wedding and he is shocked to see her with a set of identical twins that looked just like him. “Are they mine?” He asked. Harriett laughed and replied, remembering his own words. “It doesn’t matter, Damien. They don’t need a father.”
View MoreHarriet’s mind raced with possibilities as she sat in front of her doctor, waiting to hear the results of her pregnancy test, which she had just taken.
“Mrs Daniels. I am happy to inform you that you are three weeks pregnant.” The doctor said with a bright smile, and Harriet let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding. “Oh!” She breathed out, her heart racing with joy and excitement. With a marriage like her and Damien’s, the last thing she could wish for was a child, but God had other plans for her. “T-thank you, doctor. Thank you so much.” She cried as she placed her hand on her chest, unable to contain her happiness. She could not wait to tell her husband, Damien, this great news. As Harriet hurried to leave the hospital, all she could think about was how this child in her womb would be a turning point for her and Damien’s failing marriage. As much as she hated to admit it, it was true. In their three years of marriage, Harriet has never felt the joy of marriage. What did she expect? She had always been in love with Damien since childhood, but it was never the case for him. He never looked at her with love and was only with her because of his parents. As much as she hated to admit, she knew that their marriage was bound to fail, but things might be different now with the child in her womb. It had to be a miracle. Harriet entered her car and sat for a while, fiddling with her phone as she dialed Damien’s number. Butterflies swarmed in her tummy, and her face glowed as a bright smile stuck to them. She waited for a while, but still no response from him. She dropped the phone. It was a weekday, so he must have been loaded with much office work. She was used to making excuses for him, but when she was about to drive off, Damien called her back. Feeling jittery about telling him, Harriet picked up the call. “D-damien. H-how are you doing? Are you at the house? I need to tell you something.” She bit her lips nervously and played with her fingers, hoping for a small talk before she told him about her pregnancy, but she should have known not to expect too much from him. “Where are you? I also have something to tell you: Come home…now.” His tone was low and cold like always, and before she could ask him what the problem was, the line beeped, signifying that he had ended the call. Harriet felt a tight knot in her chest at his cold behavior. Why was she even surprised? He had always been this way. Why did she expect him to change suddenly? She felt tears brimming in her eyes, but she quickly blinked it away. The last thing she wanted was her mood to get ruined after hearing such fantastic news. So, she promptly ignited the car engine and drove off. Throughout the ride, she wondered what Damien wanted to talk about, as he never paid her much attention. As she drove in, she noticed that Damien’s car was already parked, meaning he was home. She took one look at the pregnancy test documents and assured herself that everything would be fine before going into the house. When she arrived, Damien was seated in the living room with a frown. She had never seen him smile unless he was with his parents or…Evelyn. All she ever got from him was a frown, scowl, or a look of disgust. “Damien. When did you get home?” She asked, putting a smile on her face. But she was heartbroken once again, and a harsh glare from Damien greeted her. Damien stood up from where he sat and approached her. For some reason that she couldn’t understand, his eyes were red with anger. “I want a divorce!” Her husband, Damien Daniels, towered over her as he yelled, his body shaking in anger. “W-what are you talking about? A divorce? Why?” Harriet’s voice broke, and her chest tightened, pain enveloping her. She couldn’t believe her ears. Why was Damien suddenly bringing up a divorce? What had she done? “Just sign the paper. It is good for both of us.” Damian said coldly. Harriet didn’t know what could be wrong and she would not end their marriage like that but Damian refused to talk further. “How could you tell me that without a proper reason? I won’t sign it unless you tell me why.” Harriet was in a breakdown. She was just about to share great news with her husband but things took a dramatic turn suddenly. “I really want to end this marriage peacefully for the sake of our families’ relationship, but you just won’t let me, right?” said Damien with a sneer. Damien drew his eyes at her and chuckled darkly, showing his anger. His eyes held nothing but hatred for her. “You think I wouldn’t find out that you have been sleeping with my brother?” He said.Final Chapter… Before Louis could utter another word to plead with her, the sounds of sirens were heard, signifying that the police had arrived. “You bitch! You already called the police!” He screamed and angrily pulled out a gun from his pocket and pointed at Lily causing Rachael to scream. “You think I wouldn’t come here prepared?” He asked and laughed maniacally. “I knew that I couldn’t trust this doctor and guess what, I was right!” He said, moving the gun from Lily to Tony. “How dare you try to trick me?!” He yelled at Tony who now had his hands up in surrender. “Put the gun down and we can talk, Louis. Put it down.” Tony said calmly, slowly moving towards Lily. “Stop right there!” Louis screamed and cocked the gun, scaring everyone in the room. “I told you, Lily. I told you that nothing can separate us. If I die, you die. We go down together, Lily. Do you hear me?!” He said, grinning eerily. “Please, stop. Please, Louis. You need to stop!” Lily cried, rubbing her hands to
“It's Louis. He just arrived at the house. Come on, Lily. You'll finally get that apology.” Tony said and grabbed her hand. “I’ll take him to the guest quarters first and then, you can come in ten minutes later.” He said and kissed her lips before leaving the house. “Oh my God,” Lily exclaimed as soon as he left. Her palms were sweaty and her heart was racing. After so many weeks, she was going to see Louis and it was possibly going to be the last time. “I can't believe this is happening.” She beamed, pacing. Tony, on the other hand, had met up with Louis who was waiting at the front door and was now leading him to the guest house. When they arrived, Louis sighed in relief as he saw the luxurious room that had been prepared for him to stay until he was able to leave the country by sea. “Thank you so much for this, Tony. I swear I won't cause you any trouble until I leave. You won't even know I’m here.” He thanked, breathing like he had just completed a marathon. Tony nodded and
Louis noticed that a few minutes after his call, the policemen behind him slowed down and turned around, abandoning their chase. A sigh of relief left his lips and he finally stopped his car. It was obvious that Tony had made some calls. He then realized that as long as he stayed loyal to Tony he would be safe. As for Mehdi, he was history and would now be punished by the law.His phone dinged and when he checked, it was a text from Tony.Tony: [Come over to my house. That’s the only safe place for you. You can leave when things settle down. I’d send the address to you but I know you already know that.]He nodded as if Tony was in front of him and hit the accelerator, driving to Tony’s house.**“Lily! Lily!” Rachael screamed from the living room to Lily who was in the kitchen with the chef. “You need to see this!”Lily appeared in no time with an apron around her. She had been trying to distract herself from the fight with Tony by helping the chefs out while Rachael kept herself bus
“You’re being recorded, boss! It's on live stream!” Mehdi’s secretary screamed with a look of horror on his face. Mehdi on the other hand looked like he had just been punched in the face. “It's all over the news. You need to stop!” His secretary yelled. The blood in Mehdiface dried out immediately and the smile on his face vanished. Scrambling around like a madman, he looked for the TV remote and switched on the television. Just as his secretary had said, the first thing Mehdi saw on the news was a video of himself and his secretary staring into his TV which was happening in real-time. That could only mean that they were being recorded by a hidden camera. He looked at the TV one last time, cold sweat breaking out on his forehead. That was when he realized that the hidden camera was in Tony’s direction. When he turned, there was a smirk on Tony’s lips as he watched Mehdi panic, knowing that he had just told the whole world about his crimes.“You…” He growled and launched at Tony, det
“What just happened?” Rachael said as soon as he walked out. She had been eavesdropping on their conversation for a while. Not that you could blame her. They were being extremely loud so she didn’t even have to try. “Not now, Rachael.” He groaned, dragging his feet to the minibar. “Don’t walk away from me, Tony. Not after what just happened!” She scolded, pulling him back by his arms. She stepped in front of him and let out a frustrated sigh, running her hand through her hair. “I swear, you both stress the fuck out of me.” She hissed. “Listen, I don’t care what she did to you, all I know is that she’s not leaving this house. You’re acting rashly because you’re angry. When you calm down, you’re going to hate yourself so, you’re going to take a break in my room and have a long nap while I speak to Lily. When you wake up, you can speak to her again. At least you’ll be a lot calmer then.” She said, rubbing the side of his arms assuringly. Tony groaned but succumbed and walked away, st
After his conversation with Rachael, Tony returned to Lily but she was nowhere to be found. The sound of running water in the bathroom informed him that she was having a shower. He then decided to leave so that she could have some privacy but, as he was about to leave, his phone rang.Looking at the caller, his jaw tightened in anger. It was Louis. After a few rings, he picked up but said nothing, waiting for him to speak.“Tony! I have great news.” He started and Tony hummed, walking out of Lily’s room as he didn’t want her knowing he was involved with Louis.“I just had a meeting with Mehdi.” Tony paused in his tracks and he wondered if he had judged Louis wrongly. Was he really going to tell him about his conversation with Mehdi? If that was the case then, Louis might not be as bad as he thought.“Really? What was it about?” He asked, now in his room. He shut the door and sat at the edge of the bed, listening attentively to Louis.“Well, I managed to get on his good books once aga
