Hello, Dear Readers. So, we have only one scene left for Adrian before the book ends. How do we feel about his conversation with Damien? Do we think his actions are justifiable based on what he told Damien? Please, share your thoughts??
It took Damien less than three hours to find Adrian’s lawyer. The man had fled to his vacation home, leaving his wife and children in New York. He must have known that Adrian was in trouble, seeing as he took every single document from the house before fleeing. But, he wasn’t smart enough to clean his tracks properly.Damien didn’t want to fly out to get him since his vacation home was in Mexico. He didn’t want to leave the country with everything that was happening. Even though Adrian had been arrested, he didn’t want to take his chances and leave his family alone. So, he sent Dante and his men instead. Damien was still at the hospital when he made the calls. He had sent his mother home a few minutes ago but couldn’t leave himself as he needed to make sure that he was making some progress. When he finally decided to leave, he checked his time, only to realize that it was already a few minutes to nine. Immediately, his phone rang. It was a call from Harriet.“Hey.” Her soft voice h
After Damien’s threat, Mr. Devon immediately started spilling information from his mouth. But, his important files and recordings were at his house in New York, so Damien had to go with him.“This is everything I have. This should help you prove your father’s innocence and get your company back.” He said, still shivering with fear. His wife and children were in their rooms upstairs, so he feared that Damien would change his mind and expose him.One thing about Damien was that he was a lover of the truth and justice. Mr. Devon was a corrupt lawyer who had no business in the practice. So, he was going to expose him after he was done with everything.“You picked the right side, Devon. Thanks for this.” Damien said with a smile and walked out of his house, but not before saying one last thing.“We’ll meet again, Devon. I am looking forward to it.”Damien immediately took the documents and recordings to the prosecution and in no time, his father was proved innocent and free to go. All art
“Is everything alright, my love?” Ha Young said with a worried voice, patting her back as she helped her get her hair out of her face. Stacy and Damien had also come into the room with her as they were worried for her. “I think it’s the pancakes. The smell did something to my stomach,” Harriet said while rinsing her mouth. Ha Young turned to Stacy and raised her brows, wondering if she was thinking the same thing.“She needs to get changed son. Give us a few minutes.” Stacy said, pushing Damien out of the room.“Are you even being serious, mother? I have definitely seen her naked countless times.” Damien said while holding his laugh in and Harriet choked on her spit.“Damien! You shouldn’t be saying things like that with your mother around!” Stacy slapped his arm and pushed him out completely before shutting the door.“He’s not wrong, you know?” Harriet laughed as soon as Damien was out of the room. “Oh, please.” Stacy rolled her eyes playfully. She and Ha young waited until Harrie
“I love you more than you can imagine, Harriet. Please, marry me again.” Damien said as he pulled out a shiny diamond ring from his pocket that had everyone in the room ogling.“Damien.” Harriet struggled to control her emotions. Tears flowed uncontrollably from her eyes as she stared at him.She had no idea that he had been planning a proposal and got impatient. She couldn’t even believe that he said anything when she was threatening to leave him with her children. “Don’t make him kneel for so long, darling.” Ha Young joked, causing all of them to laugh loudly.“God, yes. Yes, I’ll marry you, Damien.” She cried, bringing out her hands for him to place the ring in.As she said those words, Damien felt a weight leave his chest. One of the reasons why he had taken so much time to propose was because he wasn’t sure if she’d still want to get married to him after their last marriage ended. He thought that she might have bad thoughts about marriage because of him. But, as she said those wo
Six Months Later.“Can you not run around, Addy? Mummy is too heavy to chase you around.” Harriet said, finding it hard to breathe. She had been trying to give Addison her medicines since she caught a cold but, the little trouble decided to turn it into a game of chase.“You have to catch me, mummy! It’ll make Aliya strong!” Addison said with a giggle, referring to the baby which was still inside Harriet. As soon as it was confirmed that they were expecting a girl, Addison took it upon herself to come up with a name. One week later, she announced that the new baby would be called Aliyah and no one dated object.“Is Addy refusing to take her meds again?” Damien chuckled as he walked down the stairs with Aiden.“Yeah, she…” Harriet started but suddenly felt liquid pour out of her. She stood shocked for a few seconds, as reality hadn’t dawned on her yet. “D-damien. I think the baby is coming.” As soon as she said those words, she was hit with an unbearable pain that had her shutting her
“I want a divorce!” Damien Daniels, her husband towered over her as he yelled. She had just come back from the hospital and was about sharing the good news with him. In her hand was the result of her pregnancy test and as she expected, she was pregnant. It came as a shock to her especially since her and Damien had only spent one night together which was infact a mistake. Not that it mattered to Harriett. To her, this was a way of solidifying their marriage. “W-what are you talking about?” Harriett’s voice broke and her tone was unstable. She couldn’t believe her ears. Why now? Why was he suddenly bringing this up? “You think I wouldn’t know that you’ve been sleeping with my brother?” He says and she staggers, her brows creasing as confusion spread through her face. “Sleeping with Adrian? Why would you even say that?” She denies and he slams a picture on the table for her to see. She hurriedly picks it up only to drop it back with a scream. “This isn’t possible!” She yelled. It was
Harriett clenched the pregnancy test result in her hand, ruining the paper. She wasn’t going to tell him about it anymore. Not after he had hurt her. She knew so well that Damien didn’t love her but they were friends. They had been for a long time so how could he kick her out so heartlessly? What hurt her the most were his words ‘ None of that matters, Harriett. I don’t love you.’ How could be so cruel to someone he spent most of his life with? If he didn’t even like her, why did he make her feel like they were friends? Why put up with her for all these years? She ridiculed herself as she sat on the floor, chuckling like a mad woman. ‘I guess I’ll always be a second option.’ She muttered to herself. But, she had always known this. Damien didn’t love her, he never even really liked her. She was just someone he was forced to put up with. Harriett looked around and discovered that the maids were beginning to whisper amongst themselves as they passed by, probably mocking her terrible st
Outside Damien’s home, Harriett’s car was already waiting. One by one, she packed all her boxes into the car with the help of Mrs Smith. She turned around to look at the house one last time, a tear slipping out of her eyes as she remembered how happy she was when she entered this same house. She came with a smile only to leave with tears. How pitiful! Without even going to her father’s house, she drove straight to the court after dropping Mrs Smith and filed for a divorce, waited for the papers to be ready before leaving. She was going to make things easier for him, just like she had always done. For the entire three years of their marriage, she always put his feelings before hers and even now that it was about to end, she was going to do just that. He wanted her gone, so she was going to leave. She checked her phone and saw that she had nine missed calls from Adrian. She had been ignoring his call since the incident with Damien happened. He hadn’t wronged her in any way but she d
