252: I’M SORRY.

last update Last Updated: 2025-08-03 23:59:44

NATE’S POV

Never in my life did I think I’d see Elara like this.

Pale. Motionless. Hooked up to machines that beep like they’re counting down time.

Her skin looks too cold, too still, too unfamiliar.

“Hey,” I whisper, gently clasping her hand. It’s cold, colder than I expected. I rub it between mine, hoping it helps.

I still can’t begin to imagine what she’s been through. What he did to her.

And yet, she’s still here. Breathing.

Fighting.

With another life growing inside her.

“I’m sorry,” I murmur. My throat tightens as the words spill out.

“I’m sorry I didn’t get to you sooner.

I’m sorry I let him take you in the first place.

I’m sorry I failed the first rescue attempt.

I promised I’d protect you and I couldn’t even keep that. Not until now.”

We got her back…Barely.

And Nicolas is still out there Somewhere, probably planning his next course if of action.

I let out sigh, I can’t let my guard down now more than ever, I need to be smarter.

He needs to be found, preferably dead.

But ho
Glittering gold

  • The Billionaire’s Regret    254:

ELARA’S POV Nicolas’s hand twists into my hair, yanking hard. I scream again, but he only lets go to slam me into the wall with a heavy thud. “Let me go,” I croak, dragging myself backward as he takes slow, calculated steps toward me, a wide smirk on his face. “Leave me alone, Nicolas. Don’t come near me.” “No.” His voice is low and sharp as he crouches down to my level. “I will never let you go. You’re stuck with me forever.” He raises a gun to my head, and my eyes fly open— The smell of antiseptic hits me first. Not saltwater. Not gasoline or smoke. Not blood. My eyes blink rapidly, adjusting to the brightness. I’m not in the room on the yacht. Not in that dark, doorless cell. This place is… different. White walls. Machines. A hospital? I jerk fully awake, beads of sweat clinging to my skin, and my body feels heavy. My gaze shifts—someone is holding my hand. Nate. I stare at the fingers wrapped around mine, frozen. I try to pull away. No… This has to be a dream. Nicolas t

  • The Billionaire’s Regret    253: ROOM 402

NATES POV I turn on my heel toward the door and Angelo and James are standing right there at the far end of the hallway. Just as the guilt and regret come pouring in how unfair and awful I was to him last time. “Angelo…” I begin, but he pulls me into a hug before I can even try to apologize. “Don’t you dare apologize. You did what you had to do. I understand,” he says, patting my back before pulling away. “You look like shit,” James adds. I pull him into a bro hug too. “It’s the new trend these days.” “I can tell because you’re wearing it nicely.” “What can I say…” “Room 402! get Doctor Hilton.” I catch the words as a nurse rush by. Room 402? That’s Elara’s room. A few more people rush past us. “I think something’s going on…” I turn on my heel and head to the room without another word to Angelo or James. I hear their voices behind me, but my ears can’t process what they’re saying. If Elara is awake I need to be with her. I have to get to her. Screams echo down the hal

  • The Billionaire’s Regret    251: A SHOCKER!

“Child?” Elliot and I echo, stunned.

“Yes. During the scans, we confirmed, she’s six weeks pregnant. Honestly? It’s a miracle nothing happened to the baby with the level of bruising and lack of nutrition… she should have miscarried”

“Are you sure she’s pregnant?” Elliot asks before I can even take a breath. I stand frozen, trying to process what I just heard.

I feel the words hit me like a bullet. Pregnant? Elara is pregnant?. With everything she’s been through… how could her body still hold onto something so fragile? How could I have let this happen while she was carrying our child inside her?

I don’t know if I should feel happy or hate myself more for not being able to save her sooner.

“Sir, we did a full scan and it’s very evident, and a blood work also. Blood work never lies. She is very pregnant.” The doctor explains. Elliot curses under his breath. And something about that rubbed me the wrong way, but I kept it all in.

“Can this day get any worse?” This time

  • The Billionaire’s Regret    250: ANOTHER SLIP UP!

NATE’S POV

“You told me you shot him,” I say, turning to Elliot.

“I aimed for a vital spot. I'm sure I hit him, He was almost lifeless when I took El.”

I breath in hard, trying my best to cage the rage simmering inside me, but just the sight of the officer in front of me throws me further off balance.

After two straight sleepless nights trying to plan this whole thing without any slip-ups. trying to make sure we get save Elara this time, and have Nicolas too... the police decide to be careless, and he some how got away from them on the way to the hospital?
“You have to be fucking kidding me" El, is never going to be safe or feel safe with that demon walking freely. the police had one fucking job! i run my hand through my already messy hair.

“I told you these cops are nothing but fucking incompetent fools,” Elliot hissed. "we tracked him, made a fool proof plan and all they had to do was take him into custody... and even that they failed to do?"

“How did he get away?” I

  • The Billionaire’s Regret    249: THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WALL

ELARA’S POV “How have you been, brother?” That voice… It’s Elliot. He’s here on the other side of this wall. My heart stops, then starts pounding so hard I feel it in my throat. I spin around, yanking books off the shelf, desperate for a click, a shift anything. Nothing. Tears blur my vision. From what I can make out, Elliot doesn’t know I’m here. He’s talking about shipments, Europe, something about an event. His voice is calm, casual. He has no idea I’m just a few feet away. I rip down another row of books, sobbing. Still nothing. “Please,” I whisper. “Please, please, please…” Then I hear it: “See you soon,” Elliot says. No. No, no, no. He’s leaving. “Elliot!” I scream, hurling books to the floor. “I’m in here! Please!” I pound on the wall. “Elliot, can you hear me?! I’m right here!” But all I hear is the slam of a door. Footsteps fading. And then, the bookshelf slides open. But instead of Elliot, it’s Nicolas. Alone. His face is twisted wi
