Chapter 44 Bonding with Ruby

After their hour-long talk ends, Mia decides to go out for a stroll in the enormous estate she didn’t have the opportunity to see last night. Ruby joins her.

“Whoa, this place is so huge,” Mia is amazed by the acres of grassland rolling in front of her eye.

Ruby chuckles. “I reacted the same way when my mother first brought Tara and me here. It was like a castle to me back then.”

“Chris’ mother Rose inherited the estate from her mother. They are old money. I heard the estate has a long history.” She continues.

“Did you come here a lot when you were a kid?” Mia asks curiously.

“Yes, we basically lived here. Chris’ mother Rose had rooms arranged for us to stay so that we could spend time with Mom while she was working.”

“That was very nice of her to do so.” Mia comments. Her fondness for this woman grows deeper.

“Yeah, she was the kindest person on earth. I’m sure she would like you if she were still alive.” Ruby gives out a gentle and sweet smile.

“Would she?” Mia asks, soundin
