Present day
Two years and nine months later........
"Momma?"
"Hmm?"
"Ice-qweem for breakfast pwetty pweese?" Ava put on her best voice to sweet voice while batting her eyelashes at me.
"Nice try Ava, maybe if you're a good girl then I might consider giving you ice-cream later tonight." I handed her and Aiden their breakfast which consisted of, sunny upside eggs, toasts, franks, sliced fruits and apple juice.
"I told yah momma gonna say no be'case I'm the sweet one and momma will not say no to meee." Aiden teased biting into his toasts to which Ava showed him her tongue.
"How about I spank the both of you?" I teased pinching both their chubby cheeks to which they both gasped and shook their head.
"Good, now eat up." I told my two babies before heading towards the door after hearing it ring.
I immediately opened it as Mavis pushed through the door, "Where's my two handsomely dashing angels!" She excitedly screamed at them, and I rolled my eyes closing the door shut.
"Aunty May!" They both giggled happily.
"Good morning to you too." I murmured to myself.
"Shut it Faith!" Mavis shushed making me roll my eyes once again.
"Guess what aunty may brought for the both of you?" They both ran to her happily with glistening eyes very excited.
"Mavis, I told you not to..." I was rudely cut off by her again.
"Aunty bought you chocolate popsicles!" I sighed in exhaustion as she gave them without my consent.
And stopping her would be futile as Mavis would literally go into a fist fight with me just to have the kids eats whatever they wanted.
"Thank you, Aunty May!" They screamed in excitement before running past their breakfast and off into their room to eat their popsicle.
Clearly, they knew I'd try and take it away so they ran knowing that Mavis would hold me off. They were sure to get two spanking later on.
"Oh Faith, hurry up. The kids occasionally receive sweet food to eat. It's not like you have the money to purchase them anything besides what they need. It won't hurt them if you give them a popsicle now and then." She comforted me with her gorgeous brown eyes.
I sighed before sitting down on the sofa, "I know it's just that I can't help but me possessive and protective of them and I don't want you to think that your obligated to buy them anything."
"I'm their godmother Faith. I'm allowed to buy my godchildren things too. A godmother's roll is looking after their godchildren and plus, you might not be financially stable now but at least your still able to look after them. You've got me." I smiled almost on the verge of tears.
Mavis Williams was my only best friend after leaving America I ran away to New Zealand to seek a better life. I met her while I was still pregnant and living in an apartment nearby. She was also my co-worker.
She helped during that time. I was very grateful for her. She was a blessing in disguise. Whenever she would ask about the kids' father, I'd tell her he had run away after finding out that I was pregnant. Thankfully she did not push the matter any further.
I knew I couldn't tell anyone about my situation. I knew Mavis would go to the police or try to contact Dante. This could not happen. I could not put my babies in danger as a target for anyone plus Dante clearly had moved on.
Since the past two years I have heard of little news of Dante, he had now acquired a few businesses and was now dating even though there were no confirmation of this and that it was business as usual for him and that we had secretly separated.
Sometimes it hurt my heart knowing that he didn't even bother to search for me, but I needed to move on for my kids.
"Have you heard?" Mavis asked drew me out of my thoughts.
"Heard what?"
"Oh my gosh Faith, how can you have not heard of such a massive news?!" Mavis shrieked wide eye at me.
"What is it?" Mavis was always the one to know all the juicy gossips there was.
"Mr. Bloomfield has sold Dailyplus!" Mavis said making me gasp.
"What?! Why didn't you tell me this before?! What is going to happen to us? And why did he sell the company?!" I shrieked.
"We all know Dailyplus was on a path to collapse financially into bankruptcy. His son Bloomfield Junior was so pissed because his father didn't pass down the company onto him. I was told we'll still have our jobs also the company was sold to an American company called Harrison Ford Brokers...." My eyes widened hearing the name of the company.
"What did you say the name of the company was?" I murmured softly hoping Mavis had mentioned the wrong name.
"Harrison Ford Brokers is a massive, multibillion dollar American corporation. We'll soon be receiving better income, according to rumors I've heard about this new corporation investing heavily in Dailyplus. Dante, the CEO of the business, is very hot; you should see him." Mavis spoke enthusedly.
"This cannot be happening."
I watched as Dante locked his bedroom door, noting that the room was dimly lit, creating an atmosphere of mystery and allure. The soft glow from a few strategically placed lamps danced across the walls, casting enticing shadows. As he turned to face me, the room seemed to shrink, and the air grew charged with anticipation. Our eyes locked in an intense gaze, and the unspoken desire between us was obvious. The subtle scent of vanilla filled the air, adding to the alluring atmosphere. In a daring move, Dante took slow, deliberate steps towards me, his confident demeanor heightening the anticipation and making my heart race frantically within my chest with every step he took. Now standing just inches away from me, my breath quickened, and I felt a mixture of excitement and nervousness. With a gentle touch, he traced his fingers along the curve of my cheek, sending delightful shivers down my spine. The intimacy of the moment was overwhelming, and I found myself drawn closer to him, yearni
In the dimly lit room, I observed Dante tenderly placing Ava and Aiden down to sleep, his strong yet gentle hands cradling their small form with utmost care.As I gazed at him, it was impossible to deny the sheer handsomeness that radiated from his every move, especially when he interacted with our twins. A pang of regret washed over me, knowing that I had not fought harder for our relationship, choosing instead to give in to whatever Catherine said and flee. With a hint of reluctance, Dante momentarily hesitated to leave not wanting to ever leave the twins' side. His eyes lingered on them, a mix of adoration and wistfulness etched on his face.As he leaned down to plant soft kisses on their little foreheads, my heart swelled with emotions, recognizing the sweetness of the moment yet burdened by the realization that I had deprived him of these precious moments with his babies. I had inadvertently robbed our twins of the chance to spend quality time with their loving father.A mere day
Dante's PovThe shock and anger that surged through me upon discovering that someone close had cruelly kidnapped my beloved children were unutterable. The mere thought that this person, whom I had trusted, could commit such an atrocious act left me with a burning resolve to bring my children back safely and punish her immensely. For me, the notion of sending Catherine to prison felt inadequate. Prison was designed for humans, but Catherine's actions had been nothing short of inhumane. She had committed a heinous act, betraying the trust I had mistakenly placed in her.In ridding ourselves of her presence, I couldn't help but feel conflicted about the justice she deserved. Nevertheless, the safety and well-being of my children were paramount, and I knew I had to act swiftly to protect them. After ensuring Catherine was no longer a threat, I rushed to untie Ava and Aiden, my heart pounding with a mixture of joy and relief. The sight of their tear-streaked faces tugged at my soul, and th
Catherine's PovPanic gripped me as I took a step back in fright, I realized that my carefully constructed scheme was about to crumble. But amidst the chaos, an unexpected turn of events unfolded.Suddenly, a voice boomed from the shadows, cutting through the air like a sharp blade. "Catherine," he called out, his tone both familiar and filled with a mix of surprise and disappointment.Startled, I turned my gaze towards Dante, who stood there, his expression a complex blend of anger and displeasure. My mind raced, desperately trying to comprehend how he had discovered my secret. I had been so careful, or so I thought."Dante, how... how did you find me?" I stammered, struggling to regain my composure.A faint displeasure played on his lips as he took a step forward making my heart drop. "You're quite the actress, Catherine. I'll give you that," he replied, his voice tinged with a hint of bitterness. "But even the best performers leave behind traces, breadcrumbs that eventually lead to
Catherine's PovWith a triumphant smile on my lips, I couldn't help but relish in Avelyn's stupidity. How could she possibly think she had a chance to reclaim Dante's heart? From the very instant my eyes met his, I claimed him as mine, and no one else could lay a claim on him, even if he happened to be married.Manipulating Avelyn turned out to be a surprisingly an effortless task. Her naivety and innocent devotion to Dante made her an easy target. She was hopelessly in love, willing to sacrifice anything for him, and oblivious to the fact that Dante was devoted to her and would never cheat. She even placed his happiness above hers, which was an added advantage for me, as I prided myself on being selfless.Fortunately, our close ties as family friends worked to my advantage. When I decided to seize a better opportunity in New York, my family's connections paved the way.Through a close family friend of Dante's, I managed to secure a position in his esteemed company. It was a stroke of
Dante's PovAs I approached Catherine in the living room, a mix of concern and curiosity etched across my face, I gently inquired, "How are you feeling, Catherine?" My voice carried a subtle hint of empathy, acknowledging the pain she must have endured at the hands of Avelyn's explosive outburst that left her with a broken nose.Catherine's eyes met mine, a glimmer of relief flickering within them. With a surprising touch of resilience, she responded, "I'm actually doing much better now. As long as Avelyn confines herself to her room, I can't help but feel a sense of relief. It's an opportunity for all of us to regain a semblance of safety."I offered my apology, sincere and remorseful, acknowledging the upset Avelyn's uncharacteristic behavior had caused. "Once again, I apologize for Avelyn's boisterous behavior," I expressed, my words filled with a weight of responsibility. "To witness such a profound change in her demeanor is truly unsettling, especially considering her past nature.
