Alejandro's POV

Camila doesn't touch the doorknob again.

She simply looks at me.

"I'm sorry."

I blink.

"For what?"

"I shouldn't have come down this hallway."

"You were looking for blankets."

"I still found something that wasn't mine to find."

Her voice is careful, not guilty.

Respectful.

I look at the old wooden door.

"It isn't your fault."

"I can leave."

She starts to turn away.

Without thinking, I stop her.

"Camila." She looks back. "You don't have to."

"Are you sure?"

I reach into my pocket,

Camila’s POVThe shouting starts before I even reach the hospital entrance. Camera flashes explode through the glass doors while reporters crowd the sidewalk, each microphone pushing higher than the next as though whoever shouts loudest owns the truth.I stop walking. “…Again.” Karen looks outside through the glass and lets out a long sigh. “I swear they breed overnight.”Brian joins us carrying two coffees. “What happened now?” Karen pulls out her phone. “They’re calling Camila a gold digger again.” Brian blinks. “…Seriously?”Karen turns the screen toward him. One headline stretches across the page. Nurse Manipulates Billionaire CEO For Fortune. Brian snorts. “They’re really running out of creativity.”I fold my arms. “I haven’t even had breakfast.” “They’re accusing you on an empty stomach.” “I know.” Karen gently touches my shoulder. “You don’t have to go through the front entrance.”I shake my head. “I have patients waiting.” Brian immediately points toward the doors. “Then we es

  • The Billionaire's Sixty-Day Wife   CHAPTER 82

Alejandro’s POVThe boardroom feels colder than usual. Not because of the air conditioning. Because every smile around the table feels carefully measured, as though everyone has already decided to watch before choosing a side.I place my folder on the polished table. “Good morning.” A few directors answer. Others simply nod.Victor arrives exactly on time carrying nothing except a leather notebook and an easy smile. “Morning, everyone.” His voice is calm. Warm. Relaxed.Like today’s meeting is just another routine discussion. Dylan leans toward me before Victor sits down. “…He scares me more when he’s cheerful.”I keep my eyes on the agenda. “I noticed.” “He smiles like someone who already knows the ending.” I almost smile. “Focus.”“I am.” He straightens his tie dramatically. “I’m focusing on surviving.” The meeting begins. Quarterly reports. Manufacturing updates. Research budgets.Everything moves normally. Too normally. Victor waits. He doesn’t interrupt once. He lets every depart

  • The Billionaire's Sixty-Day Wife   CHAPTER 81

Camila’s POVThe hospital feels almost normal again. Nurses hurry through the corridors with clipboards, visitors gather quietly outside patient rooms, and somewhere down the hallway Brian argues with the vending machine.“It stole my money again.” Karen doesn’t even look up from her chart. “It steals your money every Tuesday.”“That’s because it hates me.” “It hates everyone equally.” I laugh as I walk past them. Brian immediately points at me.“Camila, tell Karen I’m the victim.” I glance at the blinking vending machine. “…Did you press the button?” He pauses. “…Eventually.”Karen sighs. “I rest my case.” Before Brian can defend himself again, the elevator doors slide open. A tall man steps out carrying an elegant bouquet of white lilies.Victor. He smiles warmly the moment he sees me. “Camila.” I return the smile politely. “Good morning.”“I hope I’m not interrupting.” “Not at all.” He lifts the flowers slightly. “I came to visit Maria.” I blink in surprise. “You did?”He nods. “I

  • The Billionaire's Sixty-Day Wife   CHAPTER 80

Alejandro’s POVThe hospital feels strangely quiet after Mr. Harris finishes speaking. Just heavy, as though every hallway suddenly knows something it wishes it didn’t.Camila and I walk toward the parking garage without saying much.Neither of us is ready to break the silence.I finally stop beside the car.“It wasn’t fear…”Camila looks at me. “What?”“I kept thinking those patients stayed silent because they were scared.”I let out a slow breath.“They were.” My voice drops. “But they were protecting someone else.”She nods sadly.“Their families.”I unlock the car but don’t get inside. For a long moment, I simply stare at my own reflection in the window.“So many people.”Camila quietly steps beside me.“Alejandro...”“I kept telling myself there had to be one explanation.”I laugh once, short, bitter.“One greedy executive.”“One dishonest doctor.”“One terrible mistake.”I shake my head.“I wanted it to be simple.”She doesn’t interrupt, she knows I haven’t finished.“It isn’t.”

  • The Billionaire's Sixty-Day Wife   CHAPTER 79

Camila’s POVThe room is quiet when I walk in.Not the peaceful kind of quiet, the kind that feels like someone has spent years swallowing words they were too afraid to say.Mr. Harris sits beside the window with both hands wrapped around a cup of untouched tea.The curtains are open. His eyes never leave the parking lot outside.Alejandro walks in behind me and quietly closes the door. The soft click makes Mr. Harris flinch. His breathing immediately changes.I stop a few feet away.“It’s just us.”He doesn’t answer.I smile gently.“No police.” His shoulders loosen just a little. “No reporters.”Another slow breath.“No strangers.”Only then does he finally look at me.“Just you…?”I nod.“And him.” I glance toward Alejandro. “He isn’t here as the CEO today.”Mr. Harris studies him carefully.Alejandro speaks before I can.“I’m here because she asked me to come.”The old man keeps watching him.“You won’t interrupt?”Alejandro slowly shakes his head.“No.”“You’ll let her ask?”“I w

Alejandro’s POVI don’t tell the board, I don't tell the executives. I don’t even tell Grandfather. The fewer people who know, the harder it becomes for someone to bury the truth again. Only one person walks into my office before sunrise.Dylan.He closes the door behind him without saying a word, then drops two coffees onto my desk.“You sounded terrifying over the phone.”I look up from the pile of old files.“I usually sound terrifying.”“You usually sound rich.” He sits across from me. “This morning you sounded like someone found a body.”I slide the employee roster toward him.“The missing name.”He studies the page.“Someone physically cut it out...”“They wanted nobody to know the person ever existed.”Dylan whistles quietly.“That’s dedication.”“Or panic.”He looks at me.“What are we doing?”I take a slow breath.“We’re auditing everything.”“Everything?”“Every payment.”“Every approval.”“Every employee transfer.”His eyebrows rise higher with every sentence. “…That’s year

Alejandro's POV"What exactly is so funny?"The moment the words leave my mouth, the entire table goes silent.Good, because judging by the expression on Camila's face, whatever happened before I arrived wasn't funny at all.Several women suddenly become very interested in their drinks, others avoid

Camila's POV"I want you to be my wife for sixty days."For a second, I honestly think I've misheard him.Maybe the air conditioning in this ridiculously expensive conference room is too loud.
