Tess's Pov..

I pause for a moment, considering his request. Looking at Alex, he looked like he was really hoping I say yes.

I shrug my shoulder and then I huddled my lips together, kind but firm. "I would've loved to but I can't Alex. To be honest, I have a lot on my plate right now, I doubt that I have time to spare," I say and paused, studying his reaction.

"Plus, I'm taking my kids to the park this weekend. I'm so hooked up" I continued. "But I promise to make out time soon. I'm sorry" I added, a pleading look registered on my face.

Alex's face registers disappointment but he recovers quickly. "It's fine, Tessa. You don't have to apologize, I completely understand" he says, managing a weak smile.

I noticed his not so bright face, I sort of felt guilty, I mean we're friends and I should treat him like one, if not for anything he has been genuinely good to me over the years.
