Christian’s POV

I sped across the asphalt, my fingers working on dialing Ophelia’s number on the car phone.

“What’s up?” her sleepy voice came through the speaker a moment later.

“I need you to meet me at the estate,” I deadpanned. “How quickly can you get there?”

Ruffling sheets scratched the background. “What’s going on?”

“You’ll find out when you’re here. Try to get here in ten.”

“What? Christian—“

I cut off the line, my fingers tightening around the steering wheel.

I was teetering dangerously close to the edge, almost losing my shit.

Two things. Fear. Anxiety.

No..three. Anger was at the forefront.

I swerved the car into the estate ten minutes later. I bounded up the short flight of stairs to the meek-faced butler standing at the front door.

“Welcome home, Mr. Christian.”

I barely managed a curt nod. “Where’s he?”

“The chairman is up in his study.”

I took the elevator up, and a swift knock later, I was called in.
