Chapter Three

A young man was sitting quietly in his office,focused on what he was doing on his computer while sipping a cup of coffee. In the office was a large sofa at one end,two luxurious chairs just opposite him, he was typing very fast as he must meet up with a deadline. A lady knocked on the door and he raised his head.

“Come in.” He answered.

“Sir, I sent the file to your mail now. Can you confirm it?” The lady said.

“ I hope there are no mistakes? We can’t afford mistakes now.” Henry said. 

“No sir. I cross checked it already.” The secretary replied.

“Very good. I will attach it and send it to them.” Henry said.

“Alright sir.” The lady said and left. 

 Henry is the CEO of Star’s corporation. The only son of Mr and Mrs smith. His father made him the CEO a few years ago and he made sure not to stain his father’s reputation. 

He is a boss who doesn’t tolerate nonsense. He is feared in the city, no one has ever dared him without facing the consequences. He has won numerous awards and also made a name for himself in the city.

Henry is the perfect eligible bachelor in the city. Aside from being the billionaire’s heir, he is handsome,tall, dark skinned. He has brown eyes and dark hair. The real definition of a handsome gentleman. He is the dream of every young lady but Henry seems not to be interested in anything that has to do with matchmaking. He believes he will find love when he’s ready and also with the right woman. He might be cold to everyone,but he is a preacher of love.

 He called the secretary’s office on the line…

“ Is everything ready?” He asked

“Yes sir.” The secretary replied

“Prepare the car. I will be there in ten minutes.” Henry said.

“Alright sir” she said and he hung up. 

Ann’s POV

Ann woke up the next morning still feeling good about the previous night. 

She took her phone and texted Martha first giving her the highlights of what happened last night and she also promised to come over after work to give her the complete details. 

She dropped her phone,entered the bathroom to bathe. After the shower, she dried her body,applied lotion and moisturizer on her body. 

Then she walked to the closet, grabbed a nice royal blue above knee fitted gown,wore it and matched it with a 4 inch high heels shoe. She applied a simple make up on her face and grabbed her bag. She checked herself in the mirror again and after she was satisfied with her dressing,she walked out of the room. 

She went downstairs and greeted Mary  and some other workers. 

“Good morning my darling, come and eat please. I’ve set the dining table for you.” Mary said

“Good morning to you too.” Ann replied. 

She saw her step mom and her sister at the dining table and greeted them obviously not expecting a response after what she did the previous night. 

“Good morning ma, hi Jenny” Ann said and nobody replied. 

They had a quiet breakfast unlike any other day in the house.  Ann finished her food and stood up,grabbed her bag and left for the office. 

A car packed in front of a large company and Ann stepped out of the driver’s seat. She has never really liked the idea of having a driver as she is someone who loves having her own private time.

The company belongs to her father George,who appointed his two daughters as directors in the company while he oversees everything. 

Ann walked into the company and was greeted by everyone. Her assistant and a lady who happens to be the company’s secretary approached her and greeted her. The assistant collected the bag from her and led the way to her office using the elevator. 

When they got to the office, the assistant dropped her bag on the table and Ann sat on her seat. She noticed they were still standing.

“Is there a problem?” Ann said.

“Yes ma.” The assistant replied 

“What’s the problem?” Ann asked

“The Julius corporation contract that we were awarded wants to have an official meeting with the representative tomorrow.” The secretary said.

“Is the meeting not supposed to be next week?” Ann asked 

“It was rescheduled and according to them,they sent Miss Jenny an email but she probably didn’t see it.” The secretary replied.

“Have you contacted Jenny? She was supposed to go for this meeting right?” Ann asked.

“Yes, we did. She said she can’t make it, and you should probably just go for it since you were the one who worked on the project.” The secretary replied.

Ann was so frustrated. She has always been the one working hard for the company while Jenny is busy lazing around and doing nothing. 

“No problem. I will attend the meeting.” Ann said 

“Alright ma. I will make preparations for you to leave.” Her assistant, Linda replied. 

“Linda, I want you to go to my house,ask Mary to pack a few clothes for me,and everything I will need for a 3 day journey.” Ann said to her assistant. 

“Yes ma.” She replied and left for her house immediately.

“Get my car ready for the journey. And book a hotel for me and Linda. Be fast about it. We need to leave today to be able to meet up with the appointment tomorrow. And also get all the necessary files on this project for me.”Ann said to the secretary.

“Yes ma’am” the secretary said and left.

Ann hurried to finish her work. Few minutes later, she was done with the important ones and decided to take a little rest before Linda got back. Linda still has to go to her own house to pick some clothes as they are traveling together. 

Linda came back about an hour later and they were set to go. 

The meeting was taking place in another city,it’s about a 4 hour journey from Ann's company. 

Few hours later,the car packed in front of a large building,a five star hotel. Ann and Linda stepped out of the car and a valet guy helped them to park the car. They went into the building,met the receptionist and headed to their rooms. They were both looking very tired.

Henry’s POV

An expensive sports car parked in front of the building and Henry got down from the passenger’s seat and went straight into the building. His assistant followed him with their bags and took their keys at the reception and led the way to their rooms. 

He went into his room and lay down on his bed looking at nothing in particular. Few minutes later,he brought out his laptop and started working on it. He has always been passionate about his work. 

He started working at the age of sixteen in his father’s company. His father taught him a lot and everything he needed to know about the business. He wasn’t allowed to have many friends because he was working almost round the clock. He only has two friends Tom and Lilian. 

These two have been his friends for a very long time.

Lilian has always liked him but he was not interested in her. She had always thought he was not aware of her feelings but Henry was actually pretending not to know as he did not want to be in a relationship with her and also he was protecting their friendship.
