Clover’s POV

I wake up with a long sigh, already feeling the weight of Friday pressing down on my chest. The pressing announcement, the company’s reaction, and me in the spotlight.

What the hell am I even going to wear to this thing?

And more importantly… who’s going with me?

Grandma, of course. That part is non-negotiable. But who else? Kennedy? Braylee? Marty?

Marty might actually be a good idea since he is a lawyer, after all. I don’t know why, but something in my gut tells me I’m going to need one nearby.

I swing my legs over the side of the bed when my phone vibrates.

Dr. Eric Scott.

Hey Clover, just a reminder that you have your appointment with me next week. This will be the last and final treatment before we move into trials and seek approval. If you have any questions, please let me know. After that, you will officially be in the limelight.

I laugh softly to myself.

Eric and I joked about this after my second treatment. He said if everything continued going as well as it had

  • The Billionaires Blind Reckoning   The Announcement Part 2

Zade’s POVAs I arrive at the office on this Friday morning, preparing to see my beautiful wife for the first time in a long time, I let out a slow sigh. I don’t know what to do. My heart is beating a mile a minute. I’m stressed, but I’m ready.I know my father is coming. I know my mother is coming. Dustin will be here too, because he’s a shareholder, just like my father. But beyond that? I’m not sure who else is coming. I didn’t invite anyone else, yet it feels like half the damn city showed up. It’s starting to feel less like an announcement and more like a big-ass party. It’s early, and I know that, but my nerves are shot. I’m all over the place. So I go to my office and pour myself a small glass of scotch. I don’t overthink it. I need it. I walk around for a few minutes, trying to ground myself, until I finally look at the clock.Ten minutes to ten.I take two deep breaths, let them out slowly, then head toward the conference room. When I walk in, people are already seated. My eye

  • The Billionaires Blind Reckoning   The Announcement Part 1

Clover’s POVAs Friday rolls around, I let out a slow sigh. I’m supposed to be at the company by 10 a.m., and hopefully I can get there without any problems. Grandma Lola said she’d be here at 9, and we’re meant to arrive by ten sharp. I keep repeating that to myself that everything will be fine as I get ready.I take a shower and try to calm my nerves, but it’s hard. Today is a lot. One, I’m being announced in front of the entire company. Two, I still have to pretend that I’m completely blind, and three, I’m telling Zade that I’m pregnant. That alone feels like too much for one day.Once I’m done showering, I step out and start getting ready. I do my makeup as best as I can, carefully covering the scar under my eye. It’s not as bad as it used to be, but it’s still there, more like a straight line now. I take my time with it.I pull my hair into a high ponytail, because Braylee always says ponytails are my thing. I make sure it’s curly and just right. I finish my makeup with a matte r

  • The Billionaires Blind Reckoning   Dinner Revelations

Lucas’s POV As Adelina brings out dessert, a small porcelain plates lined with pastry and rainbow sherbet and I barely touch mine. My attention keeps drifting to my mother. She’s quiet now, too quiet, her gaze unfocused, like her mind is somewhere far away. That distant look unsettles me more than Daisy’s mouth ever could.I lean toward Emily. “Hey… I need to talk to my mom for a minute. Is that okay?”Emily smiles softly, completely unbothered. “Of course. I’ll be fine here.” She lowers her voice. “I’m not scared of Daisy or that leech Dustin, talking about people being leeches.”She rolls her eyes. “And your father? He doesn’t scare me either. He just wants everything neat and respectable since we’re technically employee and employer.” She winks at me.I shake my head with a small smirk before standing. I walk over to my mom, gently taking her hand. “Mom, can you come talk to me for a second?”She blinks, startled, then nods. “Okay, son. Yes. Let’s talk.”I guide her into the smal

Lucas’s POVDinner continues, silverware clinking softly against porcelain, the low hum of conversation filling the dining room. My father, Morgan Blackwood, clears his throat, drawing everyone’s attention.“So, Emily,” he says evenly, folding his hands on the table, “we’ve been seeing a lot of you lately.”Emily finishes chewing her steak, unhurried. She dabs her mouth with her napkin, composed, then looks up at him.“Yes, sir,” she says calmly. “Lucas and I have been spending a lot of time together.” She glances at me, smiling. I return it without hesitation.“Yes, Dad,” I add. “Emily and I have gotten very close. I’m really, really, into dating her.”My father scoffs, leaning back in his chair. “I think it’s inappropriate. You’re her superior. She works for you. That kind of relationship can reflect poorly on the company. On our name. And what happens if it doesn’t work out?”I exhale slowly, already bracing myself. “Dad, we’re adults. This didn’t just happen overnight. We’ve been

  • The Billionaires Blind Reckoning   Dinner Time

Third-Person POVZade remained lost in his memories, drifting through the early days of his relationship with Clover, how it began with curiosity and attraction, cautious and tentative, never rushed. What started as dating slowly deepened into something real, something lasting. He hadn’t loved her because of the accident. That wasn’t the reason. He had loved her long before that, loved her for who she was, for how she moved through the world, for how she made him feel seen in ways no one else ever had.Their love hadn’t been forced. It had grown naturally, steadily, until marriage felt inevitable rather than planned. And now, as Friday’s announcement loomed closer, Zade focused on one thing, bringing her back to him. Wooing her again. Reminding her of everything they were, everything they still could be.While Zade lived in the past, Lucas was preparing to face the present. That evening marked the Blackwoods’ weekly family dinner, a long standing tradition where everyone gathered to
