Sonya's POV

*****

Callum finally seemed to come back to his senses after I barged into his office, his eyebrows furrowing into a frown as he gently shoved Amanda off his body while glaring at me.

"What the fuck do you think you're doing here?" He queried, dimming his eyes as he walked around his table and headed toward me, not even bothering to arrange his slightly undone buttons.

I felt my attempt at breathing getting harder and harder as I watched the man I called my husband walk toward me with contempt in his eyes as his gaze trailed my body.

"Well? Have you suddenly gone deaf or mute?"

 I clenched my jaw, glancing back only to see Amanda standing behind Callum on the other side of the office with a sly smirk on her face.

Enough is enough.

"C– Callum, you cheated on me. You've been cheating on me all this while?" I queried, my chest tightening and my stomach turning as if I was about to throw up.

I shouldn't be subjecting myself to this kind of stress right now that I am pregnant.

Just then, Callum scoffed, the disdain and spite in his gaze clear as he responded. "Cheat? How's it cheating when there was barely even a marriage in the first place? Not to mention the fact that you have never been the one my heart wanted."

He glanced back, smiling at Amanda who giggled before she waved at him playfully, ignoring my existence entirely.

My heart felt like it was failing and at this point, I didn't know what to say or do anymore.

Tears began trickling down my face like a waterfall as I slowly stepped forward and stretched my hands toward Callum, my chest heaving with each breath I took.

"And what do you think you're doing now?" He questioned mockingly, disregarding my tears as he scoffed. "Why are you still here anyway? Ugh, this bitch is ruining my birthday!"

He sounded pissed off but fortunately for me, he didn't do anything when I finally grabbed his right arm with both my hands, forcing him to look into my eyes as I kept on crying and sniffling.

I parted my lips repeatedly to speak, but my voice came out in croaks filled with my sobs, and it was getting harder to breathe. It was as if my lifeline had been cut.

"Babe, get the bitch to stop holding you already!" Amanda's voice echoed from behind Callum as if to add insult to my already festering wound.

I couldn't take any more of this.

"C– Callum," I muttered, sniffling hard to clear the snort in my nose and also to catch my breath. "D– Do you even love me? Even if it's just a... Even if it's just a li–"

Suddenly, without warning, Callum yanked his arm out of my grip, causing me to lose my balance since I'd subconsciously been putting my weight into holding him.

I fell face first to the floor, landing hard and even sending a sharp pain in both my arms and also my head.

"You delusional little bitch." Callum spat on my body despite my position on the ground, his voice dripping with hatred. "Get this into your thick skull. What we have is nothing more than an arranged marriage from our parents. I was never under any obligation to love you. How could I?"

I gasped, struggling to catch my breath as I heard Amanda's footsteps approaching just then.

My right hand went to my stomach, clutching it tight as my eyes fluttered weakly. A sharp pain shot through my stomach, causing me to squirm and gasp from the pain as my lips trembled.

"H– Help me," I said weakly, my voice weak.

It was then that my right hand went underneath my legs, and I discovered something that sent shivers down my spine.

I was bleeding!

"Oh, babe. Just drag the bitch out of your office and dump her there." Amanda's annoying voice remarked but it was becoming distant with each passing second.

I tried raising my head to get a view of the office and the people towering above me but that was almost impossible as my eyes turned.

"I didn't even touch her." Callum sneered with contempt, but those were the last words I heard before everything went black.

~~~~~
"She's waking up, doctor!"
"Oh, thank goodness. The poor thing is lucky to be alive."
"Call her husband and get him in here, please."
My eyes struggled to open as I felt my attempts at breathing getting better again. However, when I smelt the unwelcome scent of drugs and stared at the white ceiling, I realized where I was soon enough.
I was in the hospital.
"Madam?" A calm female voice spoke up from beside me just then, forcing me to slowly turn my head to its source.
Standing beside my bed was a female doctor with short black hair, a stethoscope around her neck, and a smile on her face as she brought down the log book in her hands.
"How are you feeling, madam?" The doctor asked, her voice soft and patient.
How am I feeling?
It was at that moment that I began remembering my encounter with Callum and how I had fallen on the floor and... And the blood!
When I remembered all that, a skull-splitting headache assaulted my head, forcing me to grit my teeth as I struggled to even look at the doctor.
"You don't have to sit up." The doctor said reassuringly, placing her hands on my shoulder. "Just relax. We're going to–"
Just then, I heard the door swing open and footsteps approaching, followed by another female voice speaking up.
"Her husband refuses to show up, ma'am." The voice whispered, but I was still able to hear it, and my heart broke once again.
Callum had dumped me here in the hospital and wasn't bothered in the slightest to check up on me.
Anyway, after a back and forth between the doctors and nurses, the kind female doctor finally came to my side and broke some news that shattered my heart once again.
"Madam, I'm sorry to say you miscarried and we could not save the baby."
My world came crashing down completely with these words.
    Stacy’s pov******Callum’s words had my heart racing, the thought of calling off our little alliance immediately flashed in my head but I waved it off. I had to remind myself again why I was doing this.“This is for Sonya” I thought to myself, nodding.“Stacy!” Callum’s voice brought me back to consciousness . I paused for a bit, gazing at him but the man before me still looked so keenly at me, he was desperately in need of answers.I recalled how I had overheard Stephen and Amanda that night, how they had met secretly in front of Callum’s house. I did not think it was in my position to tell Callum if his wife and best friend were scheming, also it seemed like a dangerous path to thread.“Callum,” I called softly, clearing my throat as I began to speak.“I am only here to help you with Sonya, I know nothing about Your wife and Stephen,” I said sternly, hoping that would make him stop questioning me.“Stacy please, you have to help me on this,” he said, running his hands through his h
    Callum’s pov******Stacy’s words reassured me, I was filled with hope just thinking of the agreement we had just struck. I recalled how Sonya had looked that day, how sad she had been when she found out about the public dinner I had with Amanda.“Amand!” I blurted out, recalling that I had not asked Stacy about Amanda and Stephen’s.“Arrghhh” I groaned, tilting my head to the back as I settled in my seat. I had been too occupied with winning Sonya back I totally forgot about Stephen and AmandaI took out my phone, navigating through the screen to put a call through to Stacy, but it was directed to her voice mail. I sighed, cleared my throat before I spoke.“Hi Stacy, I don’t mean to bother you, call me back when you get this we still need to discuss a lot of things” I said, dropping the phone back on the table as I looked around the house, reminiscing in my own boredom.I recalled how my life with Amanda was when we first got married, we had a blissful marriage like any other couple
    HOPECallum’s pov******Stacy seemed very shocked to see me, I had to pull her by the hand to the back of my car, constantly looking around the estate to ensure no one sees me.“Callum!” Stacy glared, pulling her hands from mine in a very rough manner. I had no intention of hurting her, I had just been too excited to see her.“What is this about,” she yelled, giving me a deadly steer. I could not tell who did it better between her and Sonya.“Stacy, calm down,” I said, placing my hands on her arms to make her stable.“No Callum, What do you think you are doing…….” She continued to go on and on, drawing attention to us.“Stacy stop!” I yelled, watching as she got startled and paused for a bit looking me in the eye.“Stacy, I don’t mean to startle you,” I began,“I really need your help,” I added, looking intently at her and hoping she would help me.“I cannot help you Callum,” she blurted out, confirming my fears as she pushed her way out of the corner and headed into the house.     FINDING THE LEADCallum’s pov**********I drove Amanda to the airport, the ride was a silent one. I kept stealing glances at her as she stayed silent all though.“Are you ok?” I asked, my brows furrowed. I really wanted to know what was running through her mind. She had been that way since she had that call with Stephen.“Em yes,”she stuttered, seeming uneasy. As much as I felt happy seeing her leave, a huge part of me still wanted to know why she had been in such an uneasy mood and what connection she had with Stephen.I watched her walk into the hangar at the airport, my mind reprocessing different thoughts. I knew I had to figure out what she was up to.“I cannot trust Stephen just yet, so who do I talk to,” I muttered to myself as I headed back into the car.“Sonya,” it suddenly hit me. “I should talk to Sonya” I said, starting the Infiniti on and stopping almost immediately. The wave of happiness I felt was immediately crushed when I recalled how Sonya and I had left things the
    A NEW DISCOVERY 2Stephen’s pov*********I slammed the phone to the ground as soon as I got off the call, Amanda seemed to be getting too involved in Callum’s affairs and it triggered me. I recalled how we had met in college, how she had fallen in love with me back then.Amanda and I had been the most popular couple in school then, but we had to separate when I had some financial issues. I winced at the thought of losing her again. Amanda had always been materialistic, meeting Callum Peters and striking that deal was all she needed to have me in her corner yet again.“I will not let you leave again Amanda, even if I have to take someone out of the way,” I said to myself, through gritted teeth. *************************MYSTIC WELLS APARTMENT “I am here to see Damon,” I said to the middle aged woman sitting behind the counter at the reception of the apartment. She had her hands on the desk as she ruffled through some papers while simultaneously looking into the computer before her.
    A NEW DISCOVERY Callum’s pov**********It was the first time I would be seeing her so vulnerable, it broke my heart to see her hurt so much. If only I could explain to her that I didn’t intend to make her hurt this much.“Sonya, pls don’t cry,” I said, cupping her cheek, but she pushed me away as fast as she could, driving off.I dashed towards my car, following behind her. I hated myself so much at that point. How could she ever forgive me now?“Amanda,” I muttered underneath my breath. It was all her fault for wanting that public dinner date. I felt remorseful for blaming my wife, but I couldn't help it. I had been really hoping for things to turn out well between Sonya and I and just when we were heading somewhere, it became ruined.My cell phone vibrated on the passenger's seat, I glanced towards the screen. “ Stephen” was sprawled across.I kissed my teeth in annoyance, making a mental note to return his call when I catch up with Sonya. Just as I focused back on the road, trail
